  1. I'm not sure that sort of stance is allowed on this site, Mantis. Pick your side and prepare to battle! :winkold: (FWIW, I completely agreee.)
  2. It certainly appears to be the case (that some are). Would seem a little odd though, given KMac's comments about MON being very helpful with his file on West Ham and talking him through it. You'd have thought that if MON was so vindictive that he's time his departure to maximise the negative impact on the club, he wouldn't go out of his way to talk the interim boss through his dossier on the upcoming opponent, would he?
  3. The general message though appears to be that whilst Fonz has more talent, Weimann has much more application and desire. I only saw the reserves a few times last year but from what I saw, I'd have to agree with that. One particular instance I remember was Fulham away. Fonz took a knock at about 35/40 minutes and basically stopped playing. He indicated he wanted to come off and the coaching staff insisted he ran it off. He wasn't interested and just stopped running altogether. It was clear that the coaching staff were very p'd off at him for not even trying. From their reaction, it seemed far from an isolated incident.
  4. I hardly ever make it to VP and I've been most sanguine about the whole thing. Therefore your point is undermined and on that basis the entire post must be complete b******s from start to finish
  5. Never got round to seeing it at the cinema. A mate of mine says it's the funniest film he's ever seen. I'll definitely be picking it up! I was in the same boat - really wanted to see this when it came out but somehow managed to miss it. I watched it last night for the first time and I have to say, it was magnificent. The funny bits are very funny but as Chindie point out, the real meat of the film is in what it's saying. The scene's where the lead character is telling his son a revisionist version of the Lion King where the characters are Jihadi is so poignant. Will never listen to Dancing in the Moonlight in quite the same way again
  6. Have to say, I was hugely underwhelmed by this when I went to see it at the weekend. I'd been looking forward to it since the beginning of the year and couldn't wait to see it. I agree with the comments re sound & vision but for me, the script was sorely lacking. There was no real set-up, I felt nothing for the characters and I believe I laughed about 3 times during the whole thing. Maybe I built it up a bit too much going in but certainly, compared to how much I was looking forward to it, I felt massively let down.
  7. Yeah, as I said above, mercenary maybe isn't the right word. I guess I just don't like the fact that as soon as things aren't going his way, he moans and wants to move on. If he wants to play football instead of collecting splinters, he'd be much better served by putting in a shift and working hard.
  8. Nope. Personally, I think he's a mercenary because he signs a contract to provide his services to a team and as soon as things aren't going quite his way, he angles for a move. If he worked his nuts off instead of just moaning, he'd probably stand a much better chance of playing and if not, he'd have a queue of clubs waiting to take him on. Everyone saw how lazy he was at Arsenal when he wasn't happy and he spent an awful lot of time telling people quite how unhappy he was. I just think he is a player who shows no class and who runs moaning to the press every time he isn't happy instead of getting his head down and doing the job he's paid for. Thinking about it though, maybe mercenary was the wrong word. Having seen what happens when people leave Man City, he'll probably know he'll be out of pocket when he leaves (due to the exorbitant wages they pay and their unwillingness to compensate players they move on) so maybe it's not all about the money.
  9. NRC was also reluctant to pass to Albrighton last night too..... I don't think it was personal, just think NRC doesn't have the capacity to look up and pick a pass. (also looked like someone had swapped his boots for clogs last night!) There were a number of times last night where NRC had an easy pass on and he decided to take on the opposition. Can't remember him managing it successfully though. I do wonder if maybe it's harping back to the tiff with MON about his distribution. Back on topic, I was looking for the Ireland thread this morning as I thought (particularly in the 1st half) he was the one ray of light in an otherwise gloomy evening. I know as Villa fans we are somewhat bipolar so I'll be careful not to be too effusive in my praise but you could tell with his runs, passing and positional play that once he's bedded-in, he is going to be a real asset to the team.
  10. So he becomes manager, is in Birmingham but doesn't go to the game? You are having a laugh. Anything Ian Robathan says is pure and utter bollocks. Didn't say I believed any of it. Just passed on what Ian was saying to see what discussion it would give rise to. The guy is full of bullshit. To be fair, he is generally quite clear that he is just passing on what he's been told but I take your point - he should probably be a bit more circumspect about what he commits to print.
  11. Just some tweets from someone called villa_insider whose provenance is in question:

  13. We all already knew about the press conference today being cancelled? Ianrobbo posting lots of speculation about Hitzfeld too today though. Apparently several sightings in Brum yesterday. As Jez says, probably all balls but there was even a suggestion of Hitzfeld and DOF with Bradley as coach. If Hitzfeld was at VP, do you not think that he'd have been picked up on the cameras that were constantly pointing at the empty directors bax when they showed Lerner's reaction? Who said he was at the game? (Don't think for one minute I'm taking these rumours seriously, mind you).
  14. We all already knew about the press conference today being cancelled? Do we actually know its been postponed though? Guess we'll find out soon enough

  16. Reo-Cocker! How could he not put that in?
  17. more wooden than the Cuprinol man!! a typical ITV pundit Even Deano looked slightly embarrassed to see him desperately try and string a sentence together. Poor Ugo.
  18. How awful is Ugo as a pundit? Shocking performance.
  19. I'm not one to be a dickhead about grammar on forums but seriously... I'm not one to be a dickhead about grammar on forums, but seriously... 8) I'm not one to be a dickhead about grammar on fora, but seriously... (emoticon) Apparently not. Had a big argument with proof-reader the other day who was insistent that the plural of forum in this context is forum. Apparently fora is the plural of forum in the Roman context only. (I did show him countless on-line dictionaries that discounted his position but he went all OED on my ass). Wait, what was this thread about again?
  20. Not saying it doesn't hurt. It's just that never having broken a bone in my body before, I'd always imagined it'd have hurt a lot more than it does.
  21. I always thought it hurt like stink when you broke a bone. Apparently I've been walking round for a month with a broken humerus. That's the last time I have sympathy for someone moaning about the pain of a broken limb.
  22. Katow-jo is my cousin. Go in peace.
  23. Think it was only yesterday, actually Mike! To be fair, I don't remember any of this nonsense last year.
  24. It's actually a really decent boozer, The Albion. Good Curry too.
