He's actually, on average, had more chances than he had last season, taking more shots, yet still failing to score. He's out of form, frustrated and desperate i think. Gotta agree with you sometimes he really does just loo like he's given up because he's in a rut, yet at other times it's like he's pissed off at himself and he wants to do something. Saw him make a good track back to press Bournemouth that stood out for me (obviously not the role of a striker but showed decent willing), but his decision making is poor - like when he should have passed to Gil first half and just ran towards him instead. Desperation. Needs a goal. Needs to put more effort in though instead of giving up.

He was under Valencia's ownership and unlikely to win a regular place in their side, but saying he came from Valencia is like giving Chelsea the credit for developing Courtois. I'm sure it's merely coincidental that two of Elche's side from last season and now in the Villa team. I am not kidding when I say that the direct replacement for Carles is actually a more effective player. There are loads of players around in Spain plying or learning their trade in lesser clubs and scouts ought to know who they are - but it depends on being the right fit and, like all signings, there's more luck involved than people are willing to give credit for. He came from Valencia's academy though didn't he?

Thats a good call actually. I cant actually remember seeing him play last season for the bogs, which if he did play, says it all really. I saw him preseason start a couple for Citeh, he has porential to be very good but needs to get his head straight and focused on football. Will Lambert get the best out of him? Wouldnt bet on it. Or they can afford better players now?

I'd like to see Grealish start to see what he's really got. We only see half an hour/20 minutes of him if he comes on. And the rest of the team are usually playing shit. Otherwise send him on loan to get some proper playing time in the Championship, where he'll develop and come back stronger. If he does go on loan though id want a winger coming in.

Sanchez alright, Gil decent, Hutton decent, Guzan decent. Tactics weren't great Skrtl isn't going to let Benteke bully him so long balls were wasted. Gil's passing looks promising though and I'm glad we aren't relying on Andi, Gabby and Hutton to be creative.

Not really, we weren't in anywhere near as bad a situation when we signed any of those four, they were all close season signings. Also for the above mentioned players moving to Villa was a step up, moving from Valencia atm is a big step down. I think/hope Gil has big potential, but don't think he's there yet. Still think he alredy is a big improvement on Gabby, Andi, N'Zogbia Some pundits and Spanish pundits/coaches saying he's a real talent. Even been likened to Isco! Quite exciting.
