  1. Luiz has definitely played himself into this game with the yellow, and a player of his class goes a long way to securing the draw we need.
  2. Looks like the three spots are pretty much sewn up unless Forest collapse. Everton would be 10th without the deduction, above Chelsea!
  3. It's pretty hard to define what 'legend' status entails, but I'd put one of the key ingredients as being universally liked/thought highly of. I don't think anyone that splits the fanbase can really be a 'legend' since half the fans don't even like him. In the same way that Martin O' Neill is not a legend, despite what Amazon Prime footage says, because loads of people hate the bloke. Modern 'legends', I guess people like Petrov and Laursen come closest, pretty much universally adored by the fanbase.
  4. I see where you're coming from but disagree - I think if the players are available, even if they cost a premium in January, we should be making acquisitions with a view to next season. We've seen what this guy can get out of players given time, so I think anyone we buy should be seen as a player for next year and not someone that's going to come in and start many matches this season. Give them a few months to bed into the system and learn from the master.
  5. Same mate, missed that one, missed the Brighton match last season too! Half five kick off against arsenal, usually a good kick off time for atmosphere as people have had a few pints. If we start the game like we did against man city it should be a cracking atmosphere. I'll be tanked up in the Holte End doing my bit anyway.

    Unai Emery

Kids these days often support players rather than clubs, apparently. I think I might have become a die-hard Unai Emery fan.

    Unai Emery

It really is an education watching this bloke's team. He's something else. Any other manager in world football would be a disappointing step down now. We have the best keeper in the world and I genuinely believe the best manager in the world.
  8. Absolutely this. Much prefer it to the sky knobheads wanking each other off.
  9. Guessing this ref is getting a Very Poor from everyone then. Joke. We can have these. They'll have to sub their best player to keep him on the pitch. We can make good changes.
  10. Nope. It's got a margin of error of about a foot if two players are moving between frames. Pisstake
  11. Played well. Looked good with the ball, a couple of times when he was getting closed down he wasn't afraid to play it long. Didn't have many shots to stop but when he needed to claim the ball he looked assured. I'm not his biggest fan but this will do him the world of good, and I assume he'll get another go in Bosnia. Good for him.

    Matty Cash

I thought the little one-two he did before playing a pinpoint ball to Diaby which the keeper saved well was one of the best moments in the match. Love Catty Mash I do.
  13. Maybe, but go for the third and end up drawing and it's out of our hands. I fancy us to get a point against Zrinski, Emery obviously does too.
  14. Good that. Could have won it by more. Second half we absolutely bossed it and had our chances. Delighted to see good minutes for Ramsey and especially Moreno (despite the 'get him off' shouts after 20 minutes in the match thread). Rubbish ref. Yellows for nothing, never heard of playing advantage. Didn't go tonight as I've got a stinking cold so decided to stay home. Hope everyone gets home safe.
  15. I thought he took a swipe at the lino but looking at it again he's swiping the hand of the player who's pulling his shirt.
  16. Well, I don't think a single villa fan would have guessed that lineup. Konsa paired with Lenglet instead of Carlos, Luiz and McGinn both starting and no Watkins even on the bench, all seems wild. Certainly didn't expect Olsen. But, manager has earned our trust and then some.
  17. It's as bad as goal music. Drown out a period of natural celebration with some shite.

    Unai Emery

I feel like I know so much more about football now after watching his team play for a year. What a master of the game.
  19. I assume it's a VAR thing rather than the ref himself, but the 'handball' went out for a corner. The ref gave a pen then rescinded it, and the game restarted with the Fulham keeper. There's no way the ref blew the whistle before it went out for a corner, so how on earth are the laws of the game set that we lose possession and a scoring opportunity there? The whole system is mental.
  20. You and I know that, but I imagine there's a lot of people at VP, especially the older folk, to whom the very concept of a 'wallet' on their phone is utterly alien. But like you say, a conversation for another time and place.
  21. I would imagine that at least 50% of people going through the turnstiles wouldn't know what NFC was, so we'd need a fair bit of user education. I'm not old (I'm not young either but I'm not old) and I work in IT, but I still don't trust using NFC and carrying my ticket in my wallet - still took a paper backup to both European games so far! More a scepticism about villa's capabilities for using tech that works than a comment on Google wallet or NFC in general though.
