  1. Doesn't help his confidence though either. what's the excuse for him looking garbage in 90% of the other games this season when the fans werent booing then? look, he's useless. that's just something we have to accept. the crowd booing doesnt make him any worse, and the crowd not booing doesnt make him any better
  2. the crowd booing isnt making stephen warnock a bad player lads
  3. i dont care if it means playing brad **** guzan at left back, stephen warnock needs to be taken out of the team now
  4. right, so a track record for relegation isn't everything. that's what you're saying? just to clarify? that doesn't necessarily make a manager bad, yes?
  5. mcleish as a man is a likeable character. he's straight to the point, and doesnt seem to have any real airs about him as a manager, he's the last one many of us would have wanted. yes he got blues to 9th and won a cup, but he also got them relegated a couple of times. however, it's worth remembering how shit everyone on here continually maintains that they were and are, so surely he didnt do any worse than expected. in fact he did exactly what was expected of him at worst, and massively overperformed at their best is he the right man for villa? no, he's not. but if he can do what he was undoubtedly brought here to do, which is trim the wage bill and keep us up, then it'll be mission accomplished id like to have seen him be backed properly to be honest. its one thing spending money for blues, but its another thing entirely having money to spend for a club that is actually known outside of england - even if that knowledge is on the wane. there's a better calibre of player up for grabs at an aston villa with money than there is at a birmingham city with money look at arry... he didnt do any great shakes for the majority of his career. he brought in more duds than quality in terms of signings. he relegated a few clubs a couple of times, and he played some god awful football on occasion. im not saying mcleish is harry redknapp mk 2, but what i am saying is that he's our manager and we all need to want to see him succeed. if you dont want him to succeed, you dont want the club to succeed. "he was shit at other clubs" doesnt cut it. he's not at other clubs now, he's at aston villa
  6. theres **** all point in signing players to be subs you sign players to be first team players and replace the players you have already there signing subs or squad players, unless theyre kids with potential, is an utterly, utterly pointless exercise
  7. collins makes more, he should be the one being pushed out
  8. i think that was the under current of his post
  9. he can spend a massive amount for two windows then trim it back to reasonable levels and use the terms of the rules to say he is working within the guidelines to get spending under control or he could choose to forsake Europe for a few years and focus on winning the league and building footballing income
  10. THIS!! they move it, they pass it, they have pace, they want to play and like the way they play. All the things villa don't. we had a guy capable of changing that in charge last season, but he would have been run out of the club even if his ticker hadnt given him problems that kind of football that people want will never, ever happen at villa. not because the club isn't good enough, and not because we can't attract the kind of players to do it, but because our fans, for the most part, are **** idiots who are unable to see beyond their noses something like that takes years to foster. it's a slow, gradual process, and you'll get a lot of hammerings on the way towards it. you'll lose far more games than you win for a few years, and you'll play garbage football for longer, before it all starts to come together we're never gonna see it at villa park because any manager attempting it would be booed out of the club within a year
  11. the lack of movement in the villa team has been there long before mcleish it was there under houllier, it was there under o'neill, it was there under o'leary it's not an alex mcleish problem, it's an aston villa problem and there's got to be a reason for it
  12. they had a very very strict wage cap up til recently anyway, i think 65k a week was their limit
  13. the "favourite to go back down" is always the newest of the 3 to the league, or the ones with the least fashionable name. it rarely has anything to do with the quality of football they play, since the bulk of people who back them to go straight back wouldn't be able to name a single player on their team before the season starts
  14. where did i say or imply that at all? im saying that moyes isn't a particularly good manager i dont get this why is he held up in such high regard? everton fans are getting sick of him, they list plenty of major issues with him, which are fairly apparent. for all his alleged talents, he's a point ahead of a villa team that plenty on here reckon are relegation fodder with the worst manager in the league. how does that make moyes a good manager?
  15. where did i say or imply that at all? im saying that moyes isn't a particularly good manager
  16. whereas our defence has warnock and collins in it. also, it wasnt their defence that was the problem, it's not like we tore them apart there. they offered nothing in midfield or up front either they're a point ahead of us, and if our manager is as bad as you and others make out, then that's hardly a stellar standing for them is it? so much better, that he's only a point ahead of him in the league
  17. no, coz should come in for gabby against wolves so we have a natural balance back in the team
  18. doesnt that make moyes a crap manager too? after all, he's managed not to beat villa who apparently have the worst manager in the history of football and a load of awful players have to say though, both teams are very poor, but still probably top half teams in the league, which goes to show how bad the premiership is
  19. ireland was the best player out there again. marc was poor, warnock and hutton were their embarrassing usual keane didnt have all that much time to do anything, but despite what some said in the match thread, i think he looked relatively sharp and may prove to be an asset theres no point playing gabby on the wing though. it's a completely waste of a player
  20. keane has done absolutely nothing to suggest he's off the pace
  21. is it just me, or does ireland look like he's stopped bothering since the second keane came on? im hoping that's not the case, but he's been doing a lot of walking around and not looking at the play
