  1. not only that, but we'd also need at least one of the current bottom 3 to pick up 10 points from 9 games (10 games for bolton) when they've just about managed twice that many from their preceding 29 games (28 for bolton) PLUS have qpr and blackburn pass us it's not going to happen if we lost all our remaining games we'd still stay up this season, such is the lack of quality at the bottom of the table
  2. Teams don't sell players and then continue to pay their wages, no. shows how much you know
  3. Don't see why? He has hardly earned the 16M he has cost us so far? A couple of acceptable performances is not good enough for a player of his reputation? Plus AM will never set up the team to play to his strengths and Ireland hasn't got the drive or intellegence to fill the Keane role? Get rid while he is at least worth something!! Another Shit Lerner/Faulkner signing!! he's been our best player for 85% of the games he's played for us :? :? :?
  4. not considering the march collapses. those 6th place finishes will NEVER look good in my eyes because of that

  6. hopefully muamba pulls through, goes on to have a fit and happy life, and we tonk bolton on tuesday obviously the latter is the least important though
  7. the wannabe football manager complaining in the other thread about the wannabe accountants eh...
  8. so by that logic, every manager in the world knows exactly what they're doing because they're actually the ones in the jobs. meaning fans should shut up complaining about them likewise every player in the world knows exactly what they're doing, and they're all great, because they're pros after all. again, meaning fans have no right to complain or question performances? because that's essentially the logic you're putting across here

we got a fairly big deal over the line for our company recently, and our partners' press release about it made it onto one of the wall street journal's websites pretty chuffed with that
  10. Well yes and no. The problem with O'Neill's "squad" players were that they were rarely used and were over-priced, over-paid and under-performing shites. That's what got us into the shit. Every team needs a squad. yes, every team needs a squad, but you build a squad by buying first team players to relegate your existing first team players to the bench, not by buying players who aren't good enough for the first team to begin with
  11. wouldnt be many win bonuses, goal bonuses or clean sheet bonuses over that time period to be fair
  12. had a go at this myself and got approximately the same figures however it's worth remembering that our last figures were from june 2010 to may 2011, so there wouldve been a LOT of high earners in there who we've since moved on
  13. Maybe the manager isn't as stupid as some think and another reason he is being singled out for praise is to increase his potential value. I too would be happy to sell Ireland for anything over $6m, his purported $80k a week wages could go on 3 to 4 squad players. buying squad players is why we're in this mess to begin with
  14. I guess we will be paying him significantly more. we probably trebled it to £20k low risk for us, relatively speaking, massive payday and a move to the premiership for him
  15. I would like to see this Edna stevens guy we signed tbh. his season started in march 2011, not sure we'll see much of him this season, but he should be very, very fresh for the start of next
  16. might he offer something similar to what keane offered us on his loan spell? ive not seen him so im not sure, with a scoring record that's not all that impressive id be hoping he's got a bit of creativity and good movement to him
  17. And just drop herd, thinks its a bit harsh he's really stepped up this season.. think he deserves his place tbh. i agree, but what i said was based on craig sorting his tackling out... how likely is that in fairness
  18. if craig could sort out his tackling a bit, id like to see him back in the club sitting behind gary and ireland
  19. we're safe 11 points off the relegation places with 10 games to play. for us to be relegated we'd one of the bottom 4 to pick up 12 more points than us in 10 games - that's more than half the points each of those 4 teams managed in the previous 28 games. that's just not going to happen
  20. not a lie. a lie is intentionally failing to tell the truth. this would be most managers' aim for any club only a lie if he knows he plays defensive football, if he thinks he doesnt, then its not a lie they're quite clearly having great difficulty with it if that's the system he's trying to play, because when they're on the pitch it looks nothing like it. again, that's not a lie he obviously believes that, why else would he sign him? do you reckon he thought "hutton's **** shit, ill go buy him"? if he thought we played well that day and that we were unlucky, that's not a lie if he believes that then it's not a lie if he believes that, and i see no reason why he wouldnt, then it's not a lie none of those things are lies though *edit* for the record, im not defending him nor his performance at the club, im just saying that to call him a liar shows a complete lack of understanding of the meaning of the word
  21. what exactly is it that makes him a prick? i dont buy into this thing that he's lying. he said we wouldnt sell downing for £50m or whatever, but that was never his call to make. if the owner said we're selling him, then that's that. he obviously doesnt think he's a negative manager either. technically if you look at the players he's picking, you'd be inclined to think that he's not, he's just not a very good one who gets his tactics wrong and can't use the players properly. what outright lies has he told? as for shifting the blame, it does look like that a lot of the time yeah. but we dont know what instructions hes giving the players in the dressing room, it might actually be the case that they genuinely arent doing what theyre told to do. that's not absolving him from blame though, if that's the case that's very much his problem to fix
  22. cahill was a rough around the edges promising kid when he was sold, he wasn't one of our best players. had he stayed at the club he might never have matured into the player he is now due to lack of match time
  23. to be fair, we only tend to sell players who make it clear that they want to **** off and who won't be signing new contracts. barry, milner, downing and young were all intent on leaving. we offered them new deals and they said no, so we couldve forced them to stay and got nothing for them, putting us further in debt (imagine what our books would be like without the transfer fees for them, on top of the wages we wouldve had to keep paying them), or we could sell them for as much as we could get like it or not, there wasn't much of an option there the problem is that we renew player contracts awfully, putting full power in their hands when they decide enough is enough
  24. if martinez gets the sack, and we get rid of mcleish, there's only one way that's going to work out
