  1. if we get 2 draws, then for us to go down we would need ALL the following to happen: wigan to get 8 points from chelsea, united, arsenal, fulham, newcastle, blackburn, wolves qpr to get 8 points from united, swansea, west brom, spurs, chelsea, stoke, city blackburn to get 8 points from united, west brom, liverpool, swansea, norwich, spurs, wigan, chelsea bolton to get 7 points from fulham, newcastle, swansea, villa, sunderland, spurs, west brom, stoke We would need only 3 of those clubs to do those things, not 4. yeah i noticed that after i'd posted it, still, it's not gonna happen. a win and we're safe
  2. oh i know, i wasnt replying directly to you, i was reinforcing your point
  3. why not come up with some chants to get the message across? "**** off mcleish, we don't want you", "you're ruining our club, you're ruining our cluuuuuuub, you scottish tosser, you're ruining our club" and so on? booing is worthless, because nobody outside the fans knows who the target is. 90 minutes of telling mcleish that it's him we blame, while giving the players encouragement wouldn't be long in showing exactly how we feel
  4. unless mcleish is coaching our players out of the ability to defend set pieces (which they lost long before he arrived) then i think it's fair the players get some flak too The players should be criticised as well, but I don't think they should get abuse at games. Our inability to defend set-pieces isn't solely down to the players. Surely they must work on this kind of thing in training? well the issue with that is, how do you train players to defend set pieces when the attackers are useless at them? im sure the defence look like world beaters on the training ground for corners given the abject lack of movement our attackers have

  7. the fixtures left are: liverpool (A) stoke (H) united (A) sunderland (H) bolton (H) west brom (A) spurs (H) norwich (A) 4 points would probably see us safe, 6 would definitely see us safe. not in the slightest big worried about going down tbh. bolton have: fulham (H) newcastle (A) swansea (H) villa (A) sunderland (A) spurs (H) west brom (H) stoke (H) blackburn have: united (H) west brom (A) liverpool (H) swansea (A) norwich (H) spurs (A) wigan (H) chelsea (A) QPR have: united (A) swansea (H) west brom (A) spurs (H) chelsea (A) stoke (H) city (A) wigan have: chelsea (A) united (H) arsenal (A) fulham (A) newcastle (H) blackburn (A) wolves (H) plenty of games between the bottom 5 where they can't both win. wigan have a horrendous run in, genuinely can't see them picking up the 6 points more than villa they'd need to pass us out, and qpr aren't far behind with their remaining games, again they'd need 6 more than villa to pass us out. blackburn could pick up as many as 12 points from their games, but with their goal difference villa would only need to get 6 more to stay ahead of them if it was just 1 or 2 strings of results like that you'd need, then maybe, but realistically you need 3 teams to put together better runs for the last 7 games than they have all season, while playing the teams around them. they can't all go on those runs
  8. im right here, and i stand by it
  9. the irish season is a summer one, so basically he started preseason in january 2011, played the full season in ireland plus the europa games then joined us in january without actually having any kind of break at all. he's likely nto going to feature til next season

    Stan Petrov

officially or not, the guy won't be playing football professionally again, not at his age unfortunately

i think the point is that it's more important than what happens on the pitch

villa statement: "The Villa Board received news today that our long-standing captain Stiliyan Petrov has been diagnosed with Acute Leukaemia. We expect to learn more about Stiliyan's situation in due course and we have moved quickly to support him and his family. Stiliyan developed a fever following the Arsenal game last Saturday and subsequently underwent tests. Haematology experts confirmed the diagnosis today. We expect to learn more about Stiliyan's situation in due course"
  13. the best one is still "It's not where about you're from Alex, it's about where you're taking us"
  14. there's nothing to this story. ballacks agent said that the mls were talking to ireland back in october, and had made him a good offer. that's before he was really back in our team. im sure he liked the sound of it then when he was sitting around scratching his bollox, but he's playing now and he's always made it clear that he wants to make it work at villa he won't be leaving us for the states in the summer
  15. where was the emphasis in those comments? was it "arsenal are an elite club, we cant EXPECT to beat them" or "arsenal are an elite club, we cant expect to beat THEM"? because they're 2 very different things
  16. and anyone who thinks it can happen doesnt seem to understand maths or football if we lose every single game we have left 10-0, we'll stay up I dont understand maths and football.......Please explain :? for us to go down wolves would need to take 12 points more than us from from 8 games (they have so far managed 22 from 30 games), or wigan would need to take 9 points more than us from 8 games (they have so far managed 25 from 30 games) or qpr to take 9 points more than us from 8 games (they have so far managed 25 from 30 games) on top of that, we'd also need bolton to take 8 points more than us from 9 games (they have so far managed 26 from 29 games) AND blackburn to take 6 points more than us from 8 games (they have managed 28 points from 30 games) that's not going to happen. it's just not. one of those teams might get the required number of points more than us, and pass us. but we need THREE of them to three teams out of the bottom 5 to all of a sudden pick up more points in their last 8 games than they managed over their games for any given 40% of the season so far come off it we are shit. but we are surrounded by lots of shitter teams. 2 wins and we're top half ffs. 2 wins for qpr and they're still behind us
  17. and anyone who thinks it can happen doesnt seem to understand maths or football if we lose every single game we have left 10-0, we'll stay up
  18. one of the worst signings in the history of the premier league when we were chugging along nicely, just needing goals to add to everything, we go and buy him and then change the whole style of play to suit him, followed by a disastrous run of form and kissing goodbye to our shot at the big time seems to be a nice guy, and certainly isn't the worst player ever to play in the league, or for us, but in terms of transfers i cant think of any that were more destructive for a club
  19. Sorensen Hutton Samuel > Stephens (Based on the fact he's actually played in the premierhip, not on potential) Mellberg > Collins Laursen > Dunne Barry > Ireland McCann > Herd Carew Delph (on Villa performances) Taylor = Guzan Agbonlahor = Agbonlahor Bouma > Warnock Young > N'Zogbia Hughes > Beye Ridgewell Lichaj Moore > Heskey Berger = Bannan Bardsley > Baker Gardner > Makoun (based on villa performances) Olejnik = Marshall Osbourne = Johnson Maloney = Gardner Angel > Delfouneso Whittingham > Jenas (based on villa performance) Baros > Weimann (based on villa performance) Djemba-Djemba Phillips Berson Kiraly Agathe O'Halloran Hendrie I'd argue that the 2006/07 squad was a stronger squad than our current one
  20. because we've played 28 games this season, so it's a look at our team now vs mons team at the same point in his first season
  21. i was going to disagree with that, but when you look at our last starting xi, you're spot on Given > Sorensen - 1-0 2012 Hutton = Bardsley - 2-1 2012 Warnock < Bouma - 2-2 Collins Cahill (as he was then) - 3-3 Ireland > McCann - 4-3 2012 N'Zogbia < Young - 4-4 Albrighton < Carew Then - 5-4 2007 Petrov Now < Petrov Then - 6-4 2007 Herd < Barry - 7-4 2007 Agbonlahor = Agbonlahor - 8-5 2007
