  1. That would make sense if the team was the same. Villa this season are basically equal to a promoted team, their first season in the premier league. Eck, had a premier league team and was still shite. What a load of bollocks. Lambert inherited the bulk of the team that was left behind by McLeish. The fact that he has chosen to exclude a number of them from playing most games and brought in his own shit (Benteke possibly excluded) is his own doing and everything to do with his failures and incompetence as a PL manager. Pacbuddies, look at the squads and you'll see you're wrong. Cuellar, PETROV!!! Collins, Dunne, Heskey, all gone and replaced with 20million, to a squad that was already thin. Like it or not all those players (maybe not Heskey) would have made a difference this season but they all had to go with the wage situation. This is not the team McLeish had with more players added. He's had one proper transfer window to turn this team around on a much lower budget - he's doing as expected in an insanely tough situation as far as I can see.
  2. **** Darren Bent. Change the record. When did Delph become good?
  3. Can we stop comparing him to Sissoko. Sissoko is NOT a Defensive Midfielder. Sylla IS ans he's been pretty good at it too during the last few months. It doesn't make me any less furious at Lerner that we didn't go for Sissoko? I was also saying to the above poster lets give Sylla a chance to show what he can do first before we judge him. By many accounts we did go for Sissoko.
  4. Aye, I think he looked a bit clumsy. Hopefully it was nerves...
  5. He did look like he was shitting himself. To be fair to him it's probably been a crazy few days. I don't think it was the right time for him to come on, no way you can judge him in that circumstance, but if you did want to judge him he's got some work to do. The starting team looks to be the best we can do at the moment.
  6. Honestly, I don't think he's that bad at all. He had a nightmare in the cup game but aside from that I think people are nuts. And to say he is one of the worst players to have been in the shirt - shit - he's not that bad. He can play football unlike some I've seen.
  7. I also bet a lot of my money that if we stay up he stays. Why is everyone so **** moany all the time. There's nothing any of us can do about any of this and we're not down yet. **** I had to do the prem predictor - I was generous to everyone else but (somehow) we survive, and with the second worse goal difference. Up the Villa. I'd love to see Benteke playing for us in the Prem next season.
  8. I bet everything I own that he stays next season no matter what league we're in.
  9. Played well. Shame about losing out to Fellaini. Fellaini's shit in the air too.
  10. Ha, has Weimann become the new scapegoat? Keep yer heads on people. Everton are a good team and Fellaini is a nightmare to defend against. He's caused trouble to better defences than ours (all of them are better ...) There is no quick fix to the situation we're in and at the very least we need to be picking up points in games like this - away to the team fifth in the league. We had quality upfront and played well against a good team, that bodes well. There are positives to give us hope. It was so shit to let that last goal in but we are not doomed, we just have a massive end of the season ahead of us. As for Gary Gardner, again, come on people - he's being positive. There is nothing wrong with staying positive, it's a good sign that the players haven't given up yet. Some people go way too far into hysteria, in my opinion.
  11. He answers it in the example he uses: "Harry Redknapp strengthened" By spending ridiculous money (babies).
  12. Pathetic, useless etc etc? That about sums up our fans. We have attributes in the team that will give us a very good chance of staying up. Everton are a good team nobheads. I'm as gutted as anyone but we've got fight, played well - things don't have to be all shit. Getting out of relegation is going to be tough but we can do it. More performances like that and we'll be good.
  13. Yeah **** Chelsea. Come on Villa! Second half like the Newcastle second half please
  14. I was responding to the stat of how few teams came back up after being relegated. I was a bit half-hearted and should really have explained myself. Many people have been obsessed with the bad examples of teams being relegated and languishing down the leagues, but West Ham and Newcastle seem to have done alright out of it (yeah, Newcastle have been a bit crap until their last game). Villa are a big club and we're not going to have the financial problems of Birmingham or Leeds or Portsmouth. We're not punching above our weight, if anything we're punching below. I'm not condoning relegation and feel quite optimistic one way or the other.
  15. Villa are a much bigger club than Watford etc.
  16. Landon Donovan, an attacking midfielder equivalent last season made 26 appearances and scored 9 in the league. Dawkins was on 27 appearances and scored 8 goals. Many of us would have taken Landon Donovan and not written him off so easily. The way he got picked up by Spurs a second time suggests they did see something in him worth persevering with. Nobody knows until we see him play.
  17. I'm definitely "remaining positive". I hope we give it a go. I feel better now than last year and even if we do get relegated I'll feel better than last year. There was nothing worse than seeing a future of Eck. That was much more bleak than this, imagine Villa never trying to play football ever again.
  18. We'll **** stay up. These signings (may) give actual balance and options in midfield and might take the pressure off Westwood and get KEA playing. We have a lot of players back from injury playing better now, who were missing over christmas, there's no reason why we can't pick up some form now. It won't be easy but we've got to be behind the team. We do have quality. If Sylla is any good at all - he could be McCann level, anyone just to get a bit of grit in the centre - then that will be an improvement for the whole team - defence and attack - and hopefully it'll make us competitive again, as we have been at parts of the season. Lambert's teams traditionally finish well, so lets see how we do.
  19. Is that the same info about Palacios coming on loan? Wasn't that just a lie of twitter reposted to look like you had information?
  20. I think it was a big part to do with Bent not being on the pitch. Palacios - if he's fit, fine - he can do the job in a very important position
  21. Can I have your season ticket if you're really going to bin it? Or are you just trying to be controversial? There doesn't seem to be much money at VIlla, nobody's happy about it but what are you going to do about it?
  22. Hairyhands admitted he was on a stupid **** windup last night.
  23. Can you give the season ticket to me? It would be like recycling, which is for the good of the world. Oh, and you're being a nob (but can I still have your ticket)
