  1. You guys will drive yourselves mad. At least Wigan lost, eh. We still were always going to have to go out and win football games. We are playing Sunderland and Norwich still, games we need to get points from, and if we do we will be amongst them too. Norwich and Stoke were playing the two worst teams in the league today, and it's not like everyone is going to lose every game to help us. There is no need to freak out. We will stay out of the relegation zone by our results, never mind the other teams.
  2. "We have to get off the fence with our younger players earlier?" Here is the militant right-wing faction in the villatalk realm. Something like that. If good ship Aston Villa had been in good shape the last few years then we wouldn't have been relying on the likes of those mentioned at all. It has nothing to do with judging them or not , just we have been in a mess and they are all we have available. I certainly don't think anyone needs encouraging to judge our players earlier on this website. It's all a bit hard-line on here at the moment.
  3. I did something similar but broke it up. I think you pushed it too far with Reading, if not a few others! Obviously I hope you're right. I'd have done 50p myself.
  4. BJ10, you talk like you're going to war or something. It's a message board, eh.
  5. Regardless of injuries, sticking with a formation that results in heavily losing games is a stupid decision in my book. Yes injuries dictate a change every so often but that was sticking with something that clearly wasn't working and resulted in some awful performances and results. Note BJ10, the TEAM we put out in those games was weak in regards to personell, due to—funnily enough—injuries. As if it had nothing to do with anything. Also, funnily enough, we have been much better since those players have come back from injury, allowing us to change formation due to the players available. It is no coincidence that was the period we were relying on Herd, Lichaj, etc, with Lowton playing as a CB, where he is not the same standard as he is at RB.
  6. Reading could be a bit more solid looking with Adkins. Norwich's form is terrible, and they have to play us too, and if we beat them they would be right back in it.
  7. Eh? We're not in the relegation zone. We've got a very important end of the season but we're in a group of four teams in pretty much exactly the same position, with some nuances such as goal differences, games in hand etc. But we are in good form. Only one of those four teams need to do worse than us—Stoke, Wigan, Norwich, Sunderland. It's going to be tense but I hope we do good and continue showing the improvement of the last few months, since key players have been fit.
  8. If I knew how to do gifs I'd probably do one that showed someone yawning.
  9. Nice to see some reasonable comments for BJ10 to ignore and twist.
  10. Anyone who says this season has not been an improvement when it comes to style on last season, in my subjective opinion, is beyond help. It seems some people don't expect any setbacks whatsoever. It's ok to have a transitional period but nothing can ever go wrong. We've been shit for years but it must involve perfection to sort that out. It's magic wand thinking. Magic wands don't exist. At the very least, we are a team with potential now, where there was none before—whatever happens this season.
  11. Some of the GOOD things are very very subjective, what nice style? Worst defense a Villa team has had in the Prem and one of the worst attacking teams to boot. I don't find 50 yard passes that cut right through our defence to be anything near being a nice style, but that's just me. These GOODs and BADs sound a bit like : Bad : - small boobs - short legs - ugly face Good : - nice personality - can cook pizza - good with kids Anyway, don't want to get in an argument, but I find your stance a bit too aggressive. Fwiw I think Lambert should stay mostly because I don't think Villa would be able to attract a better manager, whether we stay up or not, and because I hope he's learnt from his mistakes, but there's no denying he's been terrible tactically and apparently isn't very good at inspiring a team too. Be fair, the bad are subjective too. I see the consistent use of straw man arguments in the likes of this. So you're saying the guy has an opinion on something so it can't be relevant? Your last statement is pretty **** subjective too! I don't think he has been 'terrible' tactically, and I definitely don't think people look unmotivated in the team. Yes, these are my subjective opinions 100%. The 352 is the only place where I waiver on this but I also appreciate that was during a period where we had a lot of injuries—and that we did get results with that formation too.
  12. So we agree then. So it does make me right. Methinks somebody likes to argue more than they like to think. Whatever comes naturally, eh.
  13. Love how you moan at people for the way they view things and then make the outrageous claim that everything is down to one game. And that if we hadn't lost to Chelsea we'd be sitting in 12th position and had won the league cup. Well, tht game did a lot of damaged, don't you think? It ruined the player's confidence for a long time and it's very plausible that if the result had been more "normal" we would be sitting safer now and maybe even at least got to the final. I don't believe that result is the difference between what's happened and us sitting comfortable in 12th place and winning a trophy. I think it's a ridiculous suggestion to be honest. To dismiss it with hyperbole does not make you right! I don't think he should suggest it was the sole reason, but one factor in a messy winter period where we struggled for players, as I posted above.
  14. Dismissing an 8-0 hammering to a young team carrying a lot of injuries, where the numbers were made up with squad players like Herd and Lichaj, while missing the influence of Gabby and Vlaar and a rejuvenated N'Zogbia? Also consider Delph has only just started to perform. We were struggling for players at that stage. It was a difficult period for many reasons. Injuries to key players being the biggest, imo, but losing 8-0 was never going to help confidence.
  15. More like three Westwoods. There's our squad depth right there.
  16. I looked at the stats between Gabby and Weimann, who have both been great this season, imo. Gabby's got 8 goals in 24 appearances in the league, and 10 goals in 28 appearances overall. Weimann's got 6 goals in 24 appearances in the league, and 11 goals in 32 appearances overall. Gabby's best season for the club was 16 goals in 46 appearances, so for the amount of games he has played he has been having almost as good a season as he has ever had for Villa, and not playing as the main striker besides. I think the front three as a unit are class as I'm sure most will agree, and as I see it there is no coincidence that Gabby coming back from injury has coincided with our much much better run of form. He is an outlet this season when we counter—he rarely loses the ball and he comes deep to collect/runs the channels and his passing has improved greatly and happily he is scoring goals again. For someone who doesn't always come across as the sharpest how he has developed his game has impressed. A very important player for Villa I think, and if he had been fit all season I fancy we'd be in a much better position.
  17. He was treated the same by pretty much 4 managers in a row now. It might be us but it seems it's him. He has had chances. It's a shame he got such a big contract so early as maybe in a way that stopped him being able to find his level (whatever that is) and playing consistently. The wages he's on is an albatross around his neck, I think you could say.
  18. I never said the wage bill would be increased to the same level it was, obviously. The club can't lose 50million a year, and we as fans can't just expect the owner to cover that. Especially not to that high level. There are no two ways about it the finances have been a mess and they did need sorting. Now it appears we aim to build sustainably with the young and hungry players route. I think we will even potentially be interested in experience too. I don't get why the high wage bill is an excuse. It's plain logic. We had a high wage bill with players not deserving what they were on, coming to the end of their careers so that they had no resale value. The aim has to be to have not even one player hanging around picking up huge wages and contributing nothing. We still have half a dozen or so of them. Get rid of them and their wages can be applied better and elsewhere. Benteke is on 20k a week. It's a totally different approach to what we have done before and it is a transition still in process. I do not believe it has to mean we are always going to be battling with relegation—I believe we can finally be a team to get behind again but you can't turn everything out in one main transfer window, and the awkward window that it is in January. i don't think we shouldn't have experienced players per se, what we shouldn't have is bench warmers and people who don't give a shit on massive amounts of money. we're getting close to FINALLY getting rid of all the overpaid underperformers. then the new start begins. let's just hope that's in the premier league Well put.
  19. This website has been broken in the last week by 2 people. MODS! Isn't there something that can be done? Can BJ10 just have his own thread so he can ruin that on his own as this has gone off topic. This thread is now about him and it is stupid. He has not been proven "right" in any sense and if he can't see that more shame on him.
  20. I wonder what you think about all the money we've been losing, because to me in that light Lerner's cost cutting seems pretty logical. I think once the wage bill is sorted out with the departures of people like Ireland, Hutton, Makoun, Bent, Dunne etc. (I know some have gone, but only recently) that Lambert will get money to spend. I don't see Lerner as a miser at all, especially not considering how much money he has spent!
  21. What the youth manager said has nothing to do with what people have been having a go at BJ10 for. THe youth manager isn't going to come out and say "Fantastic, the kids have made it! Hard work over" is he?! The kids still did well. BJ10 still made himself look like a bit silly, and he's one of two people who seem to be doing that the last few days. And the other one is.........
