  1. Is he out of contract this summer or is he just being offered a new deal as his performances have merited it?
  2. Loved when Milner threw it off the shoulder of one of the Chlesea players in the FA semi a couple of years back. Might have been Ivanovic or Alex - they didn't know what had hit them and Milner was off down the line. We just don't seem to have that assertiveness in the team at the moment.
  3. Lower league teams will always be super psyched up for set pieces too as it's the main area where two teams are generally equal and they will have their best chances.
  4. IF we can get through this season and get that magical 17th place I really hope we can go and buy a strong, good quality central midfielder with a bit of experience. I think Delph, and to some extent Bannan will thrive beside someone like that and get their confidence flowing.
  5. Exactly - compare what he's on to what Baker or Clark are on and what they have to offer. He should be on considerably less or even pay as you play. We're not a benevolent fund. Let Stoke or QPR give him a big contract.
  6. Remember Milner scoring almost exactly the same FK against Everton (I think) at VP a few years back.

Dion was pretty good on MOTD2 last night. He pointed out that for relegation scrappers we still had two or three players (Delph, Westwood, Zog) looking to receive the ball from the back four at all times. That's a big difference from the Bradford/Millwall games when the players were scared to death. There is confidence there.
  8. **** it - Utd have won titles with some of their divers. Remember Young against us last season. I couldn't care less what our players do to stay up. I'd gladly take a Thierry Henry handball if it gets us three points. In fact we probably need a bit more of that sort of behaviour. I'd rather be guilty of that sort of behaviour than a victim of it. Just to keep us up....
  9. Supposedly Cabaye and Demba Ba too.
  10. Not to heap too much pressure on his shoulders, but he might be what is needed to help Bannan, Delph, and maybe even Ireland fulfil their potential.
  11. Apparently he's not an ambi-turner. He can't turn left. It's why he was the back up.
  12. I guess the plan was to hold out for Sissoko for as long as possible. This guy's the back up. Or the back up back up.
  13. Needs game time to be ready for the new season and is three yellows away from a suspension. Other than that we're good to go.
  14. About half an hour ago it said 'Aston Villa are a stupid club' as the last line.
  15. Think 2-3 signings could have much a psychological shot in the arm for the whole squad as a talent/physical shot in the arm. Fingers crossed a couple more.
  16. Maybe we should go for Ekobo his team mate too. Best midfield partnership in L2 last season apparently.
  17. On the other hand Ireland had shown he could cut in the PL and was still a waste of money. In terms of exposing the club to risk Coutinho is a bigger liability than Ireland was.
  18. Sound remarkably similar when you think about it. Claridge will whinge for 90 mins here though.
  19. Not sure where to post this but thought it was quite interesting from none other than Houllier: http://goo.gl/olcWv None of those new players speak any english and Pardew admitted that he speaks very little french.
  20. It's 100% a psychological thing. It doesn't matter how much they practice and who it is that coaches them. It's a vicious circle but the only way for the team to improve defending set pieces is by not conceding. A clean sheet after they've cleared a good few corners and free kicks out of the area will do them the world of good. And they'll build on that to do the same in the next game. Then they'll gradually become calmer, more confident, and better able to concentrate on winning it. They're totally shitting themselves when they try and defend corners and this affects their concentration.
  21. Dishing it out for Morocco on ITV4 at moment. Needless to say they're being beaten by cape Verdi
  22. Mexes is a total disaster - always injured too. Would take DeSciglio though.
  23. Strange that he struggles to defend so much. Drogba was one of Chelsea's best defenders for set pieces. Perhaps it's because the whole team are basically a bag of nerves when we have to defend set pieces.
