  1. Don't usually brag but I did say that Gabby and Weimann would score today, in the pre-match thread. Come on you Villa boys!!!!
  2. Gabby and Weimann will both net today, just to silence their critics.
  3. It feels like it because every game he misses we lose . I didn't realise he'd missed half of each of the last two seasons!
  4. I'd say we don't look relegation candidates. But, we would need to keep our best players fit. If we do that, I can see us finishing as high as 10th. If we suffer injuries to key players throughout the season, I'd say we'd finish around 15th.
  5. I want some concrete evidence that suggest Ron is injury prone at Villa?

  7. I hope that we do manage to commit him to a new deal. My fear right now is that we have had a bid for Delph and Lambert is lining up Cleverly as a possible replacement, which I really do not want to happen. By the way, congrats to Fab on his England call-up. Should have happened at some point during last season with the form he showed!
  8. No can't be.. I hope not too but, with the Villa at the moment, anything is possible.
  9. What if..... Lambert is looking at Cleverly because we can afford his wages and, he sees him as a replacement for Delph, whose wages we can't afford to renew? It might be possible that Lambert has been asked about Delph and knowing that the club can't afford to renew a contract on the wages he gets now, he's decided to cash in and replace him with Cleverly.
  10. Yeah like "we sell you Cleverly and then you sell us Vlaar". Joking aside, if that happened I would be mega pissed off!
  11. Can see him doing well then getting tapped up by one of players from the Sky collection, especially as he's in his last year of his contract. Would just be our luck.
  12. I don't know how he'd fit into our team. For me, Sanchez plays DM and Delph plays between him and the AM who will play behind the striker, a position we have been trying to fill for ages. I would personally prefer to see our own starlet - Jack Grealish - have a chance to develop and show what he can do given a regular chance. In addition to the above I'm not sure that Tom Cleverly is all that good anyway.
  13. I wasn't at the game and I haven't seen any highlights. All I know is this; it is unacceptable for a Premier League team to go out of the cups, without a whimper for three years in a row, to lower league teams. And, especially if the club's only league ambition is to avoid finishing in the bottom three places each season. I understand resting the main 'keeper. I can also understand resting certain other players such as Vlaar, Delph, Cissokho, Gabby and Weimann because of their importance to the positions they play in. But, last night's team should have been strong enough to have won against a league one outfit and, for it to happen for the third season in a row is simply unacceptable. There's only one real common factor between the playing and management staff from all those cup defeats - Paul Lambert. I'm not saying Lambert should be sacked, probably because I have no trust in Lerner to fill the position with anyone worthwhile, but, I am saying that Lambert needs to sort himself out and get these guys performing better than us fans have become accustomed to. It's simply not fair of him, the players or the club to keep churning out dire performances and expecting the fans to put up with it. This summer's signings are of a higher calibre than the last two seasons so the club's management needs to start making sure that the football churned out is a reflection of those higher quality signings.
  14. This lad was awesome against Newcastle. I really hope he sustains that form and become a fans favourite.
  15. Don't know about any other homegrown Villa fans but this kind of story fills me with absolute pride. Why should this lad support the Villa over any other English club? Don't know the answer and couldn't care. I'm glad to have you part of the Villa family mate. Glad the players/occasion lived up to your expectations. Up the Villa!!
  16. No disrespect mate but I can't see no black dude in that pic! Joking apart, Fab seems like a really decent lad and his performances keep getting better and better. I still believe he would make a very good attacking midfielder if he had free rein to go forward and stay there.
  17. I have to admit to not always being a fan but this lad played well today and has a great touch on him. But, sort out those set pieces please!
  18. Quality player who will become a legend if his form is continuous and he stays a long time.
  19. Not that I think we were amazing going forward but we did have chances and did create stuff - we just don't have any decent strikers fit at the moment. We had two fit strikers on the pitch. Neither got in the right position, at the right time, to make the required impact.
  20. He's used to playing left back and is probably as shocked as we are to see him playing attacking midfield. Probably needs a few games to adjust. But, I would rather see Grealish there to be honest.
  21. This guy just has an aura about him that says "go out and get my name and number on your shirt". Which is what I'm going to do. One of my favourite goals of all time was scored by Carlos Alberto. This fella carries the same name so I intend to have that, and his number, on the back of shirt.
  22. To add to my last post, I was not in any way saying we weren't good defensively. In fact, we were outstanding. I was merely backing up the point of another poster that they were missing their best striker. For the record, I am thrilled with our defensive look. My only concern is our attacking threat. I am sure the stat of having no shots on target in our first home would reinforce that. I didn't suggest he was!
  23. Probably because it's pathetic to accuse fellow fans of being "sheep" just because they're content with a 0-0 draw against a decent team while our two best strikers are out. Not saying that I agree with the OP but, Newcastle also had their best striker out and we were the home side - without a shot on target. Did they? I'm assuming he means Papiss '10 goals in his last 60 league games' Cisse. Hardly their best striker but that doesn't fit with the narrative that we only kept a clean sheet because of who they were missing. Yes, I meant Cisse. Say what you want about his recent strike rate, he would have still posed more of a threat than Riviere.
