  1. the only question with ravel is could lambert manage him and get the best out of him ??doubt it. He said in the interview about Gil that his character was important and Sanchez said he was a good lad who worked hard. I doubt he would want a trouble maker.Dembele swap for Delph would be amazing. Sorry but you must have heard wrong. What Lambert actually said was "He's a good lad and Sanchez said he worked hard at the defensive side of the game so he's straight into the side on Saturday".
  2. Good luck to him. I'm not that excited at the signing because we've been there and done it with Tonev and Helenius but I hope this lad gets off to a flyer and carries on from there, God knows we need him to!
  3. After Lambert's first season where, I believe, Gabby, Benteke & Weimann all got into double figures, didn't Benteke and Weimann both get awarded new deals? Gabby also got one this season and since then his performance has dropped too. I can't help but feel that those three have become too comfortable for their (and ours) own good. Maybe a couple more attackers coming in, together with those being dropped here and there, will create enough competition to give them the kick up the arse they all need.
  4. Nothing to do with seeing or not seeing him play. His record shows he scores 1 in 12 so the only real difference he could make is by being able to create. A 5 year deal for a relatively unknown youngster from a lesser Spanish club doesn't fill me with excitement. I know Sanchez played for them but at least he showed at the World Cup that he looked a decent enough player. I hope he works out for us and I'll support him like any other Villa player but, it doesn't mean I can't have an opinion about the length of his contract and the fact he hasn't got much of a goalscoring record.
  5. Lerner seems happy just as long as we don't get relegated. Therefore, he probably couldn't give a toss how they play just as long as he can still advertise us as a Premier League club.
  6. Well unless he fails his medical tomorrow, it is. 5 year deal, £4m fee. You're way ahead of me. Where did you hear this? Guillem BalagueVerified account‏@GuillemBalague All done between Carlos Gil and Aston Villa. 5 year deal and around 4m euros as confirmed by Spanish press this afternoon Sorry to be so negative but this deal scares me. 5 years is a long time if if he turns out to be another Tonev and if he is decent he'll just go back to Valencia anyway. I struggle to see how an unknown Spaniard is going to help us this season, unless The Rock has bigged him up to Lambert as the new Messi or something. I hope he does well and doesn't take long to settle but this deal seems risky to me.
  7. I think people also forget that Gabby and Delph also fall into the "high earner" category. Delph seems certain to go this summer, if not sooner. So, that will be at least two of them off the books. Maybe the manager will have extra funds at his disposal?
  8. I hope this wonder kid is creative because looking at his goalscoring record he seems worse than both Weimann and Gabby.
  9. Personally speaking, I think he's a bit of a pig. The imporkant thing is that Lambert get's the chop It would still leave a few on here scratching their heads.
  10. Personally speaking, I think he's a bit of a pig.
  11. Platt and Cowans was the best midfield partnership I can recall down the Villa so, for an attempt at a quick fix at least until new owners come in, I wouldn't mind Platty given a go with Sid as his number two. Although, I guess there would be a lot of people disagree with me on that. I do like the sound of Laudrup and Laursen too! We need people here who give a toss about the club and its fans!
  12. He was pure class today today and nothing to do with how poor most of the others were. Think it was Clarky who took control of a situation in the box and dribbled is way out of danger? There's always been a really good footballing brain inside of him but for some reason he hasn't shown it the past couple of seasons. However, he's now performing at a level that we probably all thought he was capable of when he first broke into the first team.
  13. He needs to play 433 with a middle 3 of Delph, Sanchez and Bacuna/Cole/N'Zogbia. Westwood and Cleverly are too average and the same player. He also needs to get Grealish up amongst the front 3. I would play Weimann at home and Gabby, for his pace, away.
  14. Something interesting about what you said about those front three who did so well at the end of Lambert's first season - they've all received new contracts since then! Makes you wonder if any of them really do give a toss about the club.
  15. I agree completely. I do think, for me personally, that if he was backed properly from the get go we would be in a far better possession though. Lambert is a far better manager than he is showing. I don't think he's as good a manager as people would have you believe. He did well at Colchester for a while and then went to Norwich and turned them around drastically. However, for me, the rest is down to momentum and familiarity. I doubt Norwich would have stated up had he been there another one or two seasons.
  16. Randy Lerner = rich coward. Get rid of Lambert before he leaves you with a club ever harder to sell because you're in the Championship.
  17. That's less than a quarter per game in a sport where a positive result is based on on least one third!
  18. He succeeded at Norwich because of momentum. He brought virtually the same group of players through two leagues into the top flight and they gave their all for him. He's now joined a club with bigger expectations than purely survival and it's found him out.
  19. Can anyone defend his performance THIS season?
  20. We're not as bad as this manager is making us out to be! After our next 3-4 games, at this rate, we will be in the bottom 3. We have a good run-in where we could potentially get 10-12 points but not with this fool in charge.
  21. I'll have a guess at Hughton or Holloway being the next man in. Hughton wouldn't be bad but Holloway would show Lerner to be really clueless.
  22. He's the only person who seems to not get what is wrong game after game. I dread to think the clueless billionaire owner will drag in next but surely he has to be better than this clown? We're losing 1-0 away at the club bottom of the league and our manager brings on Weimann and Richardson. Why no Grealish or Robinson. To be fair, I say that without seeing the subs bench but, if available, why not give them a go?
  23. Not at all. I believe it's a nurse who aids women back to ahem "full health" following child birth.
  24. Get back to the beach before the tide comes in?
  25. Learned a lot from that actually. Well done but........would Lambert?
