  1. What a complete bottle job this is from Olympiakos....dear me.
  2. Sherwood liked attacking full backs, do you not remember his comments on Richardson last season. I think he took one look at Cissokho spooning another cross into Row F and said not for me but it was an error as he can defend and we could do with that now.
  3. Mmmm how quickly were we 3-0 down at home to them last season. The Emirates wasn't pretty either (I was in the home end for that).
  4. I really think a lot of players have lost focus down there, maybe they've been too comfortable down there and that has lead to complacency. It maybe also ties in with Wales qualifying for euro 2016 as since then Ashley Williams has been making a mistake every game and that hasn't happened before, Sigurdsson has also dipped since Iceland made it. Think they need to go back to playing their first 11 as likes of Eder, Kyle Bartley, Leon Brittan and that awful Modou Barrow bloke aren't good enough to be starting in this league. If they win a game I do think they'll go on a run and climb away from the bottom 3 as there's still good quality there. Interesting to see how Monk does in his next job. I like him but he knew the inside out of Swansea, kit men, tea ladies etc which he won't have the knowledge of at his next club.
  5. Ayew is better than Weimann. Can't argue about any player coming close to the others you mentioned now Amavi is injured though. Lambert a good manager though....!
  6. Put him Monreal-Mertesacker side.
  7. The champions league group stage has its critics, I'm not a huge fan of it but this has to be the most dramatic night in years at this stage.
  8. Fair enough. His goalscoring record for Fernebache and also Lille is outstanding though, proper 1 in 2 stuff. I'm only mentioning them as players who were playing in France when Remi was managing there so I'd say players like that who he has good knowledge of will be more likely than the lower league recruits which has been our specialty last few years.
  9. Damm I was just typing out Seydou Doumbia on loan....just watching him play now. What's Moussa Sow up to nowadays?
  10. If English clubs are serious about doing anything in the Champions league they need to be signing Aubameyang or Greizmann, not Vardy.
  11. Do you not think a takeover would occur at any point. O.k It hasn't happened last two summers but that's with Lerner's 150m asking price, he couldn't possibly say that with a straight face to interested parties if we're relying on parachute payments and championship revenue streams. That's one of the things I'd accept relegation for, a takeover with Lerner out of the picture and a fresh start under someone else.
  12. Fooking 'ell Laursen getting it now....you'll be saying McGrath should've dedicated himself a bit more next....;)
  13. Ah interesting. You see if Amavi hadn't bust his leg I'm convinced we'd have seen 3-5-2 by now but we don't have anyone to play left wing back position.
  14. People are under the impression he's bench warming at Liverpool for some reason. Crouch is more likely if Garde is interested. A random one but how about Kevin Mirallas, dosen't seen to start anymore for Everton when I see their line up nowadays? Or Naismith.
  15. It will be odd having grown up watching exclusively top level football (first game was in 97). Indeed that will be the case for a whole generation of Villa fans with birth years from about 1985, anyone under 30 won't have seen this. Will certainly be a different feel to VP next season for the games. I want us to be in the top division as that's where we've mostly been throughout our history but given the last 5 years we do probably need relegation now to cleanse us if you like. No guarantee we'll come straight back but similar standing clubs like Newcastle and West Ham did. I'd probably sum it up as going back to the mid 90s, a bit retro. No wall to wall coverage, just a few minutes highlights on that channel 5 programme and that's it for the week. Also you can sign loan players on the day of the game so it will be quite funny turning up for an evening game and seeing someone who's been a Villa player for a few hours so not the long protracted negotiations you get nowadays. If it happens it happens. I'm fairly philosophical about relegation now when I'd have been devastated if it had occurred in 12/13. We deserve it for the way we've been run, infact if it guarantees new ownership let it happen.
  16. What position did he actually play? No one's mentioned it but he actually made the bench at the weekend so I think we'll see him at some stage over the xmas period with the rotation needed with the amount of games.
  17. Just couldn't believe how lucky it was that he didn't fall into a row of seats where people were but on the touchline. He had to have a leg amputated but that could've been a lot more tragic. Yes the game was incredible, it was a very good Arsenal team back then and we were pretty good ours even if the season predictably fizzled out post xmas as is our specialty. It was fun back then though, might get the youtube up of it later.
  18. He certainly played very well for Swansea down there, think he scored 20 + goals and a hattrick in play off final. Like Paul says though what motivation does he have now to do that.
  19. Yeah he used to do tactics in the Arsenal programme and the Online Tv show but they sacked him for his anti- Wenger stuff!
  20. Is Bellamy going to get the gig full time then? Not a big name but anyone who hears him on the radio will agree that Stewart Robson would be a left field but quite a good choice to replace Neville as he's generally spot on with the tactical analysis, just don't let him do Arsenal games!
  21. The last time we beat Arsenal at VP actually occurred to the day 17 years ago on Sunday. That 3-2 game which was one of the most dramatic I've ever witnessed at VP, not just the game but the Santa accident at half time.
