  1. Derby were worse than us, remember they lost 6-0 at home to us and there were hammered on a nearly weekly basis, ended up with a -69 goal difference. You'll do well however to find 4 worse teams in the premier league era than this one. Those joke QPR teams that finished bottom in last few seasons were better than this set of mugs.
  2. He's been better since around xmas in fairness but against top class opposition him and Gana still look so poor. As someone said elsewhere he must've sacked his agent for not pushing through the Leicester move! Their plan B was Kante aswell. It never rains....
  3. Just before they were awared it I was about to stick a tenner on a penalty being next goal in the match as it was about 20/1 and it's a bet I like to do once you get past 75th minute mark. It's fair to say the laptop would've gone through the window if I'd placed the bet and seen them then do that!!
  4. Cahill is a vice captain, started every game in the Euros qualfying so is a Woy favourite and will be playing week in week out for Chelsea from now on. Not a bad squad otherwise Ronnie, nicely balanced.
  5. Wasn't that more about the players lack of keeping possession although it was his crazy subs at 2 nil. Regardless he praised the fans again. He dosen't have to do it.
  6. Putting 10p on us staying up dosen't count. I think we'll struggle to reach 20 points after today, that has knocked the stuffing out of me.
  7. France are massive favourites to win this. I agree on Germany, they've lost a bit of experience at the back since the world cup, looking at the back 4s they were putting out in qualifying I wouldn't be losing sleep as a striker facing them. Spain are still Spain, England still have a massive issue getting passed to death against them. Regarding England's chances, the format helps them. They'll get out of the group and winning the group will mean playing a 3rd place team in the 2nd round won't it? With England it's can they finally beat a major nation in the quarter finals of a major tournament as that's been beyond them for the last 20 years.
  8. *Quickly stops typing out Ian Holloway's name....;)
  9. It's a London club though....they've won two carling cups in last 20 years, same as us never enough yet look at their coverage compared to us even when we were good enough under MON. West Ham are the same. I hear enough of their fans on phone ins aswell to want to move to Ireland and watch Eamonn Dunphy.
  10. Same here. I remember feeling sick over xmas 2012 when 15-0 happened. I also remember physically shaking at the end of the QPR win that season so desperate was I for us to stay up and I'm sure others were the same. Now three years on it's time we went down tbh. We add nothing to this league and really need to rebuild out of the spotlight and away from as many world class players as possible. As the goals went in today I just shrugged my shoulders. In fact I wanted Benteke to score as I still love him and would've been amusing to see VP applaud an opposition player scoring. Just immune to it now. Probably the only time I'll feel sad about the current state will be the afternoon when relegation is actually confirmed as that's when reality will set in.
  11. If you think the media goes mad about Liverpool.... A Spurs title win, no just no.
  12. Milner will be in for his versatility. Probably last tournament for him though as others will overtake him. I like him anyway much more than the other two. What is D*lph going to offer against good teams in the knock outs, you've seen him in the big games for City being subbed at half time I presume?
  13. Of course but no team is going to win the league with 70 points. It will be high 70s I'm sure so Man. City have very little margin for error now.
  14. I've stopped going to home games Liverpool, Arsenal, Spurs and Manchester clubs as I don't enjoy them and haven't for years. Mentioned it elsewhere but since 1999 we've played around 50 home games against Liverpool, Arsenal and Man. United and won....two of them. Even more bonkers when you consider our good records at Emirates and Anfield in last 6-7 years. As regarding rest of season I got my ticket for Everton yesterday, it's only 15 quid. No interest in Spurs game, that's another home game where we meekly surrender. I do usually go to Chelsea at home as we do give them a game most seasons at VP for some reason but doubt I'll bother now. Will probably go to the Newcastle game though. A chance to relegate Newcastle again but big reason is purely to watch us playing a Premier league match at home. Lord knows how long we'll have to wait before the next one. It could be 1 year or 15 years like Sheffield Wednesday and Leeds.
  15. It's a squad arguably past their best though. Mentioned it in the other thread but a spine of Hart-Kompany- Toure-Silva-Aguero is fantastic but most are near or above 30 now and Aguero and Kompany are very injury prone. It's very similar to Chelsea a few years back with Ballack, Essien Drogba. Kept a few of those a year or two too long and their motivation in the league went.
  16. The premier league was a lot stronger back then really. Liverpool should've won the league in 08/09 with the best midfield in Mascherano-Alonso-Gerrard and most inform striker in europe in Torres but they were up against a Man. United of VDS, Rio, Vidic, Evra, Rooney, Ronaldo, Tevez etc. Chelsea weren't a factor in the title race but they still had great champions like Cech, Drogba, Ballack, Essien as regulars. This was all reflected in the european results back then, 3 english teams in champions league semi finals. The premier league is nowhere near as strong with quality of players imo but it does make it a lot more interesting regarding title races.
  17. He's a good manager, he showed that at Villareal and Malaga, just not elite level as don't think his tactics in the biggest matches are that great, look at how he's approached the recent Barca games playing 4-4-2. The season they won the league they stuck at it but got lucky Liverpool choked after beating them 3-2 at Anfield. That said they should still win the league cup, could win the FA cup and I have a funny feeling they'll have a good run in the CL.
  18. Probably a best example would be us in 08/09 and 09/10 seasons. What did you feel at the end of those seasons? Yes we probably overachieved in both challenging for top 4 but finishing 6th I felt disappointment we hadn't pushed more, particularly Arsenal in 08/09. Especially as we barely won a game from March. Think the reaction on here reflected that at the time.
  19. Yep made 2k this weekend so far, 25 quid on 33/1 West Ham to score last minute winner v Liverpool and a few more. (obviously dosen't happen every weekend!) So how many games should you play to determine a league winner, 100? In a 38 game season you have good times to play teams and bad times to play teams. It's enough to determine the best team.
  20. O.k so we're only 3 months away from it being named now. Thought I'd start it after seeing Woy on MOTD last night give some worrying answers...the usual of we can fit Rooney on the left again, oh dear. He did in fairness though make a good point that this is probably the most flexible England squad in a long while. They can play 4-4-2, 4-2-3-1 or a 4-3-3. Although whether that will maximise the talent or be a case of shoe horning players into positions as we saw at the World Cup is very much open to debate. Anyway though contary to popular belief there are a fair number of English players playing very well in the league this season. Leicester guys, Dier and Ali at Spurs, Butland has been brilliant at Stoke and now Forster is keeping clean sheet after clean sheet at Southampton. With keepers Hart, Forster and Butland is probably the best state England have been in with Goalkeeping in 20 years I 'd say since you had Tim Flowers and Nigel Martyn as back up to Seaman. Defence not sure really on fullback, lots of options but are their really stand out picks. Some would have Clyne as RB, others Kyle Walker, Woy will probably go for Phil Jones....o.k I joke I think. Smalling and Stones would be my CB picks but Cahill is a regular so doubt that. Midfield is an important pick. I wouldn't lose any sleep if Henderson, D*lph, Carrick etc didn't get called up, to me they're part of the lost generation. Let's say Miler, Ali, Dier and Barkley instead. And what to do upfront? Kane, Vardy and Rooney are certs (before we have another endless Rooney debate he is Captain so he'll obviously go). What happens if Sturridge and Welbeck both stay fit and score hatfuls in the run ins? 5 strikers plus a winger or two is a bit much for a squad of 23 I think. I'll post my 23 near the time as we all full well know a key player or two will get injured. Interesting to think who will or won't make the cut, not an easy squad to pick at all.
  21. Out of title race. Can only get a maximum of 84 points, title winner will be something like 78 points. In their state they're not winning 10/12.
  22. I love you gharperr but just seen this re-reading your post: The gift that just keeps on giving....
  23. Surely we should ban our players from tweeting so soon after games especially when we've just been hammered as obviously people will be ready to abuse. No idea what he's on about anyway.
  24. Yes I'd say that. Even though defensively we've been good in last 6 weeks I've always felt there's a clanger or two in Bunn as his decision making and positioning is dodgy. Things like flying out at Vardy. No idea what we do with Guzan's confidence also shot...maybe we should've signed a keeper in January...oh.
