It'd have been great to have him to come on. If Davis isn't going to come on when we're hanging on to a result with 15 minutes left away from home, when is he? That's exactly the situation I'd want him in. I guess Smith thought it was far more likely we'd be chasing a result, which is fair enough.

We did well to keep our shape and keep them away from our goal for large periods, especially in the first half. But even in the first half...Remember Kane's one on one, and his missed header? Once he's in the swing of things, that's two goals right there, he'll have been very disappointed to only score 2 with the chances he got. And before people start, I'm not getting hysterical, I think we'll be fine this season, and this game was never going to be an indicator of how we're going as a team. I just think 3-1 makes it seem a much closer game than I thought it was.

I haven't missed all of the snark if anyone dares to not get on board with the happy clapping. Close game, lads. We had them right where we wanted them.

I'm shocked by the 'good performance' comments, honestly. We got ripped apart. Not surprising, there should have been no expectations we'd go toe to toe with that team, but how many golden opportunities did they have? We shouldn't have been in that game at all, how it was still even with 5 minutes to go is beyond me. I thought Mings and Engels did really well. And it still wasn't enough to stop them having easily enough chances for that to realistically have been 6 or 7 on another day. I'm not too worried, there are only another couple of teams that will outplay us like that, but in no way was that a solid performance, imo.

To be honest, as hard as the back 5 worked, I think it'd have been robbery if we got a point there. They battered us, and we have their abysmal finishing to thank for the score being as flattering as it was. Kane should have had 4. They could have very easily been one up in the first 20 seconds. Plus that hilarious shot 1 on 1 outside the 6 yard box that went out for a throw... Very disappointed with Jack, he needs to learn from that, and fast. He's lucky he only cost us one goal, he almost cost us in the first half losing the ball deep in our first half by dicking about like he's playing against Rotherham instead of CL finalists. We got away with a lot of sloppiness, and it's clear they're on another level to us. Fortunately, most teams aren't as good as Spurs.

It's when, not if, isn't it. You can't play like this for a half an expect a result.

I'm not impressed by our defence, really. They'd have 4 by now if they weren't shit at finishing, they're making so many chances and just not scoring.

Chuffed to bits with that half, I thought we'd be trying to keep the score down by now. Organised and looking capable both at the back and going forward. We're benefiting from them being very rough, but we could have put the game out of sight with better finishing of our own.

A second could do this for us. I'm not convinced we can keep a clean sheet, but the 3 points are there for the taking, we've got to get a second before they step up a gear.

Nice bloke, shite footballer. He wasn't good enough for us in the Championship, there was no way he was stepping up at this level. I expressed surprise that he was even involved in our friendlies, as he clearly wasn't going to be used, I guess we were just trying to keep him in the shop window. No ill feelings towards him, but he won't be missed.
