  1. Funny. if you look back through this thread, every time MON loses, someone says the "honeymoon period" is over. He must be having a lot of honeymoons.
  2. Possession eans nothing tbf. Look at Swansea vs Newcastle. 68-32 possession yet Newcastle got 2 goals and all 3 points. Would be interesting to see what a premier league table based solely on amount of possession would look like (although I'm not going to do it).
  3. And through playing better football than anyone else they keep winning matches. That's just not on. :winkold:
  4. Barry did a lot more for thsi football club than Milner and though he put in a transfer request and did a crap interview he deserves a lot moer respect than he gets Spot on, although he will never shake off the shame of that interview in my eyes. Barry was a key part of the side for a long time and gave us a lot of value. Milner just saw us as a leg-up it seems.
  5. Probably worth glancing at how Mark Hughes has done with QPR as well... (That would be pl 12 w3 d2 l7 gd-5 pts 11)
  6. Dont remember him starting a game last season and couldnt get ahead of Hogg. He started two - although I expect he tries to forget about them. He was part of the infamous "weakened" team that lost 0-3 to Man C in the FA Cup (and IIRC was directly responsible for goal no. 3) and then played in the 0-1 "Had enough, Houllier out" defeat to Wolves.
  7. Pretty good goal, though, wouldn't you say?
  8. Yeh, Moyes has established Everton as top 6 regulars and no mistake.
  9. Thought their title hopes were dead and buried at Christmas time but you can't underestimate the old fox S'rAlex. Mancini's and Vieira's attempts at playing mind games over the past couple of weeks have been laughable and it is really looking now like skilled craftsmen v novices. Don't envy the manager who finally has to step into his shoes.
  10. When who goes? Are you talking about McLeish or Lerner (or maybe Faulkner)? :winkold:
  11. Was listening to Gary Lineker saying on MOTD last night that "if the Premier League had started when MON took over Sunderland, Sunderland would be third." That is indeed true - a table of results since 11 December (MON's first game against Blackburn) looks like this It's marginally misleading because not all clubs have played the same number of games but even on a points per game table it's a pretty impressive 5th. And look where Villa are. Right down there in the depths. It doesn't make you feel so good about Villa's season, or our recent history, does it?
  12. Really liked the look of this kid - a bit more more hope for the future. If McLeish could buy well in the summer and get a few experienced pros in to help the kids develop and withstand pressure in tough games, we could be looking at some progress next season. :?: :?:
  13. That'll be for next season, I fancy.
  14. I agree we sould remember this The Youth did us proud today. They can be pleased with the result and we should start being positive about how the kids are delivering for us. Sure they will have learnt an awful lot from today and there are plenty of coaching points about how to remain more composed under pressure and play smarter to keep the opposition at bay. But all in all, well done the kids!
  15. Phew. Glad we hung on for the point but I'm convinced Liverpool were there for the taking today if we had pressed them a bit harder rather than the usual of sitting back trying to defend a lead. We were often quite low on skill today but high on detemination so I'll give everyone 6/10. Well done lads, and thanks to Fulham, Chelsea and the Baggies for damaging our bottom 6 rivals.
  16. Well that was inevitable the way we have been playing. We could have won this if we had taken the game to Liverpool more.
  17. Doubt very much if we will get anywhere near 12th. I said a few weeks ago I would take 17th as long as we stayed up and got hammered for it. It's not looking so absurd now.
  18. How about an "Occupy Villa Park" camp?
  19. You have. No "IF" about it.
  20. That good hey  give him a chance eh? (suppose you've already forgotten, he scored one and made one in the first leg?) typical over-reaction :!: Why give him a chance? Let's start slagging him off now and continue it when he actually arrives. Then in January he can be sent out on loan and people can start posting about how much the team is missing him.
  21. Can you just note down the good things he has done that give you hope for the future?
  22. Sorry, but that hardly adds up to a player revolt. It's just niggles that are par for the course. Now if we had a player going to sulk in Argentina for months, after the manager has said he'll never play for the club again; one who fights with his team mates on the pitch and who the manager says he can't trust; the manager and captain openly disagreeing in the club website...etc. THEN you would have something worth posting about!
