  1. It's still unlikely that we will go down so there is probably no need for anyone to revise their opinions. The point is that unlikely things do sometimes happen so apart from one or two people who have wrongly been saying dogmatically that we definitely can't go down, nobody needs to change their opinion. Don't know why everything has to be in black and white on this site and there is so much angry finger pointing all the time.
  2. and anyone who thinks it can happen doesnt seem to understand maths or football if we lose every single game we have left 10-0, we'll stay up I dont understand maths and football.......Please explain :? Oh dear  It's got nothing to do with maths at the moment tbh. It is about probabilities - which is what a lot of the discussion has been about for most of this thread. It is still highly improbable that we will go down - just a little less so than it was at 2.59 pm today.
  3. A lot depends on whether McLeish will learn the lesson from today's game. When we play attacking football, we are capable of scoring a few goals and that will get us points against lesser sides. If we play cautious, containing football, of course we're not going to pick up points because our defence is gash, dumb ass.
  4. It couldn't really have gone worse for us today, could it? QPR winnng has really made me feel ill. Game against Bolton critical now.
  5. You missed out the bit where you explained how Heskey had ANYTHING to do with the third goal. I mean, that's just silly.
  6. Gio Martin! (Still expect Man C to win 4-3 though)
  7. Wolve beating Bolton would actually be good for us because it keeps Bolton 7 points behind (assuming we lose to Chelsea).Agreed. Out of Wolves and Bolton, Bolton are the only ones who could realistically catch us imo.Wigan beating Stoke not so clever though.

  9. Looks like that's where we're heading with Villa...
  10. Actually, there's not much anyone non-medical can do to help at present but I really really want Villa to win tomorrow, for Stan.
  11. The idea of someone's career being over at the age of 33 made me frown a bit. I think you mean "this phase of his career". Let's think positively on his behalf!
  12. Cripes, that is terrible news. Like Neil Lennon says, Stiliyan has the heart of a lion, and I truly hope he can overcome this. It is a massive blow for Villa. I am sure he will fight this with everything he's got. For me, the story that sums him up is the one about how, as a 19-year old just arrived at Celtic, knowing very little English and unable to understand what his team mates were saying, he worked in his spare time in a friend's burger van so he would be forced to pick up the language. Such a determined guy with no airs and graces.
  13. And that gives us two advantages over people who are very young. (a) We are much wiser ( We have seen really good times at Villa (and of course some really bad ones)
  14. Pires of course. Though I haven't thought too far back to GTMkII - probably Kinsella has a shout.
  15. There are loads of other anti-McLeish accounts on facebook - just a selection are I Hate ALEX Mcleish 706 likes Alex Mcleish What a W*nker 590 likes Aston Villa Supporters - Sack Alex McLeish. 857 likes Aston Villa Supporters - Petition to sack Alex McLeish. 829 likes And so it goes on... Of course, there could be double counting between the sites. My favourite is Birmingham City Fans - We Want Alex McLeish To be Next Aston Villa Manager 1,809 likes
  16. Anyay. according to the BBC we had two shots, so CLOSE THE THREAD!!!
  17. Good list. I'll take all those. I think I might add Nobby Solano in 2004, although the little rat did spoil things 18 months later by packing up his trumpet and sodding off back to Newcastle at the first opportunity. Similar thoughts might apply to James Milner.
  18. Dennis Mortimer for me. It was when I realised Saunders was going to build a seriously good team.
  19. I think he made his point quite clearly already at Bolton away last season. Didn't he score 2 against us then? Yes. I guess that helped to make up for the facts that it was his "assist" that helped Bent get our first goal, and that he was woeful in defence all afternoon.
  20. Whatever the truth (and we will never really know it - maybe get a bit more if anyone writes their memoirs sometime) it was pretty inept of Lerner to let things drift throughout that summer and not bring his differences with MON, that were obvious for all to see, to a head and resolve the issue with more than 5 days to go.
  21. If anyone thinks Cascarino is "on the side of the fans" that is a big mistake IMO. He seems to go through life looking for chances to knock Villa and this is just the latest bandwagon. Have to say he's a bit late coming to the party, as well.
