  1. Now the anti-Diaby nonsense has sunk to this level of sloganeering, it’s probably just time to give this thread a rest. We’ve just got through to our first major European semi final in 42 years and all some people seem to want to do is slag off one of the players who has been part of this successful squad and has been regularly picked by Emery to play in important matches both in the conference and the premier league. That last fact should tell you a bit more than your own eye test.
  2. Oh, yes, I can see that might be true because the second sentence of the rule refers to yellow cards not being carried forward but doesn’t mention pending suspensions, so by implication they are carried forward. Not very clearly written if that is the case.
  3. It’s just ridiculous to say he was “awful” in those games.
  4. This is from The UEFA regulations The briefing that Emi is suspended for the semis appears to have come from the club but I think they’re just teasing us.
  5. I had no idea we had been taken over by Elon Musk and Jeff Bezos
  6. And our coach, the most lovely , respectful, polite man IN THE WHOLE WORLD, got booked for having a go at Fonseca. Didn’t ever expect to see that.
  7. I’ve just watched it again. Did the female commentator say after the last penalty save that Martinez had “balls of steel”???
  8. Olympiacos it is! Their goalie saved three penalties in their shoot-out!
  9. It’s more to do with the judgement that he should be sold immediately “cutting our losses” as someone put it. This is such foolish nonsense and I am sure deep down you know that.
  10. If what I have set out is “glimpses” in your book, we are not disagreeing, you just chose the wrong word. “Performances that helped us win 7 points” would do through.
  11. The commentary was so ridiculously shit this evening that I switched the sound off after 15 minutes and was able to concentrate on the match rather than getting angry at the drivel they were coming out with.
  12. What he did in March to get him player of the month was Assist for Digne’s winning goal against Luton Goal against Ajax Assist for Zaniolo against West Ham Goal against Wolves and assist for Konsa in same match. Amazing though that Emery hasn’t managed to get him ticking!
  13. That was nerve wracking. We were pretty much overrun in midfield all match and that made life a lot harder but the defence did a decent job and we did create a handful of really good chances. We probably should have won before the penalties. Magnificent performance in the shoot out and Emi gets my MOTM award just for those two saves. Incidentally, just before the final penalty, my Europa Conference League app sent me a notification that Emi had a red card. Did anyone else get this? I recovered from the heart tremor just in time to see him save the last pen. Memo to conference league app: please don’t do this again. So, next up Bournemouth! What a brilliant season this is!
  14. Which is a big change from about a week ago when he was voted player of the month but, hey, yeah, let’s sell him at the first opportunity - plenty of replacements available! Then let’s sell Torres, Bailey, Cash, Digne, all of whom have been Villatalk whipping boys in the past, and let’s send Rogers and Duran out on loan, two other excellent Villatalk recommendations.
  15. I hope people asking for Konsa to be moved to RB in place of Cash are at least doing so with a sense of irony (ref. the 7 million posts in the past few weeks asking for the exact opposite to happen). I actually thought we got more of a grip of the midfield as the game went on and ended up with a couple of decent chances - in particular Douglas Luiz’s. Let’s hope we can build on that in the second half. I reckon one goal now will settle this.
  16. I have so much enjoyed the mind-stretching and abstruse discussions here about coefficients and I came here today distraught that last night’s real world results have reduced the issue to irrelevant rubble. However, I am encouraged that we have now moved on to an exciting debate about probabilities, so this thread can go on helping me to study for my advanced maths A Level.
  17. Really people sometimes post such nonsense on here. Moussa Diaby rubbish? Rubbish!
  18. Excellent game today. Really strong when on the ball and did a lot to blunt Arsenal’s midfield efforts. Super distribution too. I think we probably have come to expect this of him now so he doesn’t come into contention for MOTM as much as he should..
  19. He is learning so quickly and obviously benefiting massively from having Emery as coach. One of they real bargains of the last transfer window.
  20. Yes, it was a good analysis, particularly about the tactic of keeping Watkins, Diaby, Zaniolo and Rogers in attacking positions while Arsenal were attacking.
  21. I reckon even @TRO would approve of that! Excellent performances all over the pitch and perfect game management by Unai. It was particularly pleasing that we came out for the second half very very focused and took control of the game - none of that 45-60 minute wobble nonsense today! Every player was MOTM today but the bedrock of our success was the defending in the first half and Carlos was central to that so my vote goes to him. Now… what are the prospects of us catching up with Arsenal and Liverpool?
