  1. I so want to believe this. I can just picture your mate up a ladder in the corner of Lange’s office taking suspiciously too long to fit a light bulb……
  2. I don’t think he would be a good signing at all. I would rather give one of the kids a run than Will Hughes. I hope to god we are trying harder than this?
  3. The “Journalist” Danny Owen must be paid by the article as his output is crazy - 20nr so far today all on different clubs in different leagues, 6 in the last hour. This is totally made up bollox looking for clicks.
  4. Even on a free I don’t get this. It just doesn’t fit, I am not having it.
  5. Kozak has a bad press, he was very unfortunate and in a poor team. We have had lots far, far worse
  6. Exactly this. The signs from recruitment so far has been good, but the chances of having fairy story obscure league/lower division player bought for peanuts who turns into the next Mahrez is very slim. All we ask is they deeply assess/scout and make a calculated decisions based on where he will play, what’s needs developing and when he will likely blossom. Lots of teams are now using statistical analysis and moneyball, all it does is narrow the risk, there will likely be failures as much as successes, if we can’t accept that we just pay £50m+ and high wages for ready made players.
  7. I’m the same with Berg, don’t know enough about him. Think I would prefer Anguissa and sure he would cost less. But this comes from a position of ignorance
  8. He put on a tidy showcase today? Looked an improvement on Luiz today, but very similar to Luiz, maybe too similar. I think McGinn has been poor bar two showings, for 18 months.
  9. But what if we sign JWP and Bissouma or Anguissa or Ruben Loftus Cheek?
  10. They have over half a million followers so are no fly-by-night chancers, but no idea on track record? Followed by quite a few sensible/influential Villa fan accounts.
  11. England player, solid & dependable, great set-piece taker which we are poor at and have more opportunities than most to take advantage from. But you’d hope for someone a little more dynamic, but depending on price he seems a quality addition to the squad.
  12. But the vast amounts of money helps provide for all the other things that makes it happen. Its surprising how persuasive endless amounts of cash can be in football.
  13. Is it the real Percy or the fake Percy who showed up for laughs last summer?
  14. To an extent, although this table also presents a position that all the “successful” teams carry significant debt. Therefore debt = success Burnley have seriously wealthy owners, but seem happy with only maintaining premiership status. If you have ambition, at some point you have to roll the dice.
  15. Poach - from Palace or Wolves? Nuno will good for Palace, he will move them forward. Wolves: Neto would be nice?
  16. I am not excited by this, but I have learned to trust the judgement of the management's recruitment who have barely skipped a beat in 12 months. I feel more than ever that we have a very good team looking after recruitment and are making the right decisions for personnel and the prices paid for them.
  17. Missed out by the smallest of margins. Its interesting that only Ollie, Ward-Prowse and Lingard who will stay on and play with the 26 man squad in the friendlies/warm up games - that means they are very, very close. But it I find it starnge that they are likely to get game time in the warm-ups ahead of the tournament - why give game time to players who wont be there? Very odd, but shows how highly they are thought of - it can only be good for Ollie.
  18. I read that on twitter too but I think its bullsh*t. Lots could happen between now and the close of the window but I do expect him to stay for at least one more season.
  19. His time will come, he is getting better and better, I reckon on his current trajectory he could be second choice to Kane by the end of next season (when its the World cup?).
  20. Press reckon Sterling is heading out of Man CIty, where will he go? Whilst we unlikely have the clout to land him at the moment, he would offer a might solution to our forward quandry
  21. No thanks. And the club seem to want want players on the up. I would happily see Rashica arrive, especially if he is now £13m, thats seems a reasonable gamble for a squad player (especially as Trez is out long term). Hope we have some bigger targets though; Buendia, Tammy and Rashica would move us forward again, but I also think despite the local press putting a lid on speculation of late, I do think there will be a couple of unexpected quality signings.
