  1. Absolutely right. And equally, if you’re going to post prejudiced views in the Qatar WC thread, expect them to be challenged. Although one point I would dispute is that you can’t take for granted that some posters have ever criticised the UK or US over their policies, and even if they do - they would always stop short of putting sanctions on them. [edit]
  2. Head and shoulders above everyone else.
  3. I’m his biggest fan. but he was awful today.
  4. If we win 7-0 we go above Chelsea! come on!
  5. probably just trying to replicate his tactics team talks
  6. Yes. You’re right. But it still isn’t illegal for you to exist. What you describe is bad enough, and is so much more powerful than clichéd hyperbole There is no need to exaggerate it. You STILL don’t understand the hill I’m on. I’m not trying to defend the Qataris stance on homosexuality. This whole debate started after I asked why the states were not being criticised in the same way. For the UPTEENTH time: IF YOU ARE GOING TO CRITICISE THE AWARDING OF THE WORLD CUP TO QATAR BASED ON A **** UP LAW, BUT ARE QUITE HAPPY TO ACCEPT THE NEXT WORLD CUP IN AMERICA WHERE THEIR LAW ALLOWS LEGAL PAEDOPHILIA, THEN THE ONLY EXPLANATION IS THAT YOU ARE PREJUDICED. That’s my hill. Thats the point where I started. But I get accused of ‘whataboutism’ and you conveniently don’t answer my question by ‘bowing out’ because I have a very ‘odd hill to die on’. So let me ask YOU, @bobzy, directly. Do you have a problem with the United States co-hosting the next World Cup?
  7. Woah! When did I not accept that this wasn’t an expensive World Cup? Of course it was. That’s irrefutable fact. Ticket prices were 50% higher than they were in even in Russia. What I’m saying is that you say it became inaccessible to the ‘vast majority of the world population’ on THIS occasion - it was already inaccessible to the ‘vast majority’ of the worlds population back in Russia. maybe it became inaccessible to an even greater percentage- but prob 80% of the world population already couldn’t dream of reaching a World Cup game even if it was in their own home town! Lets not pretend the ‘vast majority’ got priced out only now - which is what you implied.
  8. The ‘vast majority’ of the worlds population haven’t been able to afford getting to the World Cup since it first began. You do know that the ‘vast majority’ of the worlds population live on under $5.50 per day? I think they’ve got bigger things to worry about than if they can afford to watch a game of football, and whether it should be in the winter or summer, or if Harry Kane can wear his rainbow armband. Market forces is not Qatars fault.
  9. Quite a few of my friends attended. They’re not rich. I suppose ‘rich’ is a relative term though. From the corruption point of view I agree. It horrible to think that EVERYTHING is for sale. But out of interest, who do you think should have got it? Bidders: Australia Japan South Korea USA Qatar
  10. Lol! IM the brainwashed one lol yh, you’re the one saying a country that just hosted a successful World Cup was ‘entirely unsuited’ You need to pick your hills better. please do bow out.
  11. You’ll say what exactly again and again and again? A country that just did a fantastic job of hosting a World Cup was ‘entirely’ unsuitable to hosting a World Cup? One of the safest, cleanest, and well organised world cups to have taken place, but you still hold the view that they were entirely unsuited? A summer event? By tradition, not by rule. In fact, the world cups are usually held at a time when the football season is over - ie conditions are no longer suitable for football to be played? Go figure. You saying again and again and again is what this entire debate is about - your prejudice towards the Qataris. They did a **** brilliant job in hosting the World Cup. Our politicians and media telling us how evil they are is more about their own worry about what we might see when we get there. A safe, clean society where citizens pay no tax - while our interest rates and mortgages and price of bread steadily push us into poverty. ’but, but, but… we’re inclusive! They’re EVIL!’ And boy do some people swallow the whole narrative without even thinking.
  12. Apologies I got mixed up with a different article. https://www.equalitynow.org/learn_more_child_marriage_us/ Quote: What is the “statutory rape exception”? Statutory rape is when one of the parties to sexual activity is below the age of consent. It does not have to be forcible, because a minor is not legally able to consent. 18 U.S.C. Section 2243(a), on the Sexual Abuse of a Minor, applies when a person “knowingly engages in a sexual act with another person” who is between the ages of 12 and 16 and is at least four years younger than the perpetrator. 18 U.S.C. Section 2243(c)(2) allows a defense to this crime when “the persons engaging in the sexual act were at that time married to each other.” This means that, at the federal level, child marriage is viewed as a valid defense to statutory rape. This law not only suggests that the federal government condones the practice of child marriage, it allows an adult to engage in sexual activity with children as young as 12, and gives sexual predators an incentive to force a child to marry them. The law can effectively turn child marriage into a “get out of jail free” card for predators. This law must be repealed. Repealing 18 U.S.C. § 2243(c)(2) is a simple, commonsense step towards aligning U.S. laws with international standards and discouraging child marriage and rape in the U.S.
  13. That’s the way the law makes you feel. Which is a horrible way for anyone to be made to feel, and is wrong. But it is NOT illegal for you to ‘exist’. You would be breaking the law if you had sexual relations with another man. So you could ‘exist’ and not have sex. I am NOT saying that that is ok before you jump down my throat. I’m just saying it’s NOT illegal to exist. Im not arguing AGAINST gay rights, I don’t understand why you guys just don’t get it. Im just sick of the constant criticism of Qatar and the blind eye to your mates across the Atlantic. Now why don’t YOU imagine you’re a 10 year old girl. And a 70 year old man applies to the court to marry you, and the court says ‘yes that’s fine, and perfectly legal.’ Getting **** by a 74 year old man time and time again when you’re 14 years old. Imagine a life like THAT, if YOU can. https://www.independent.co.uk/news/world/americas/200-000-children-married-us-15-years-child-marriage-child-brides-new-jersey-chris-christie-a7830266.html
  14. Whilst I agree in the overall view, in THIS case, I think Emi deserves any criticism. I love the guy, and I wish he stays with us forever, and I think he’s hilarious. BUT… this Mbappe business lacks class no matter what angle you throw on it - and any subsequent criticism is fair game.
  15. The bizarre thing is that it was US (the British) that went to the majority of these countries and INTRODUCED the bloody laws against homosexuality in the first damn place! Two Argentinian women took off their tops in the stadium. In Qatari law they could be prosecuted for indecency. The west celebrated it. Put them on the cover of newspapers. Basically made them famous, and rich. Encouraging all women around the world to ‘get their tits out for the lads’. You do that and we’ll make you famous, and rich! But it’s the Qataris that don’t respect women. It’s the Qataris that treat women as objects. We know how to treat women right. We idolise them. So long as they get their tits out. There were probably 30,000 women at the final? The two that I remember are the ones with their tits out. We’re a proper advanced society for sure. Well done us! Should’ve been jailed if you ask me.
  16. Did I say that it doesn’t happen? No Bobzy, no I didn’t. I suggest you learn to read. This is the problem with a few of you posters here. You just don’t seem to grasp basic points. At no point did I say the persecution of homosexuals does not occur. At no point did I say that this persecution is ‘ok’ The point I made was that a few posters here seem to just focus solely on this ONE issue and refuse to acknowledge ANY positives from the World Cup. Their constant comments describing the Middle East as ‘backwards’ has racist undertones that make their prejudice no better than the Qataris. The Americans allow children as young as 10 get married to older men. I’ve pointed this out several times, but you ignore it. No outrage, nothing. Just ignore it. Why? Well, I wonder if it’s because one set of people are white skinned cousins, and the other are dark skinned ‘backwards filth’ Not one of you will criticise the states. Not one of you will have reservations about watching the next World Cup. Not one of you will post the criticism again and again and again. What about these children that are being legally f*cked in the states? Do THEY not have a ‘right to exist’? Should we boycott the next World Cup until the states change their law to something not so backward? But you guys couldn’t give two shits about that. Maybe because they’re white? I don’t know, I can’t possibly know what goes on in your heads. Now you’ll all get together and try to make me out to be some kind of pantomime villain, but AT NO POINT DID I EVER CONDONE THE QATARIS TREATMENT OF THE LBGT COMMUNITY. You saying that I deny it happens is a lie - probably for effect to try to undermine my points. Is it wrong of me to suggest that you guys are equally vocal about the legal paedophilia in the states? Is it wrong of me to ask that at least you acknowledge some of the positives gained from this World Cup? As I wrote before, focusing SOLELY on negative aspects is by definition prejudice. And a few posters here have repeatedly stated that the World Cup should never again be awarded to certain countries. Well, it seems you’re perfectly happy to let old men marry girls as young as 10 - so long as it’s a ‘white law’ MY summary: There were some really really good aspects to this World Cup, and it was a great success. The Qataris need to 100000000% stop persecuting homosexuals. The Americans should be ashamed of their backwards laws and should: 1) End child marriage 2) change their gun laws I don’t believe that we should stop them holding a World Cup because of that though. I can say all of that, because I’m not prejudiced. Let’s hear that from some of you (won’t hold my breath)
  17. Utter hyperbole. yet more cliche tripe that you heard somewhere being regurgitated. This right here is what really winds me up. Exaggerating things damages the cause. It is NOT illegal to exist. It is illegal to perform homosexual acts. There is a huge difference, and you claiming it’s one and the same doesn’t help. if you stuck to the completely valid point that people should be allowed to be who they wish to be and do what they wish to do without risk of prosecution or persecution , you’d get a lot of respect and total agreement from me. If you’re going to add a healthy dose of hyperbole then I’ll call you out on your exaggeration.
  18. I absolutely agree that it was handled in a corrupt way. It really isn’t my point. There’s a lot of bad taste around the whole thing, and it’s not my desire to champion the Qataris as some kind of amazing people. My main issue here is the overt prejudice on display under the guise of championing inclusion. It’s so hypocritical it’s unreal. Part of the definition of prejudice is to ignore positives and to focus on negatives to try to confirm a certain narrative, and I have seen it time and time again from certain posters. Some people will refuse to acknowledge ANY positives. There isn’t a country on earth without issues. The real corruption here is that the Qataris needed to pay so much to get the World Cup in the first place. Without that they would never get the cup. Blatter gets dogs abuse for being corrupt. But let’s take a moment to think what would happen if there wasn’t the corrupt Avenue to get the biggest ticket in town. A select few countries would just take it in turns holding the tournament - claiming that only they had the infrastructure and experience to be able to hold such a tournament. it would be the Big 6 Mafia all over again but on an international scale where they split the pie into large pieces and let everyone else have the crumbs. The media and tabloids have done their very best to undermine the tournament from the very offset because they hate that the Qataris got it. They hate the fact that it was a success. And you have people like certain posters who regurgitate their agenda repeatedly. I bet those most vocal against the hosts have never even been to the Middle East - and the limit of their knowledge comes from the Daily Mail. It’s hard to take people seriously when there is no balance to their views. No one was arrested for being homosexual. They even said everyone is welcome, just be respectful. Basically don’t be lewd, and you have nothing to worry about. Homo OR hetero. Yet… non stop throughout the whole tournament everything just returned to the same point again and again and again.
  19. Number of people arrested for being homosexual at this World Cup : 0 number of posts by you moaning about qatar holding the World Cup: 23,454,565,565,543,676,325.
  20. When are you going to give this a rest? Non stop bleating about this. When are we going to hear your criticism about the next World Cup being held in a country that allows legal marriage between 70 year old men and 10 year old girls? Or does legal paedophilia not warrant your constant moaning? Or maybe for you mainly white societies are allowed to do what they want without criticism.
  21. Who’s no 16?
