  1. As other have pointed out, the minimum fee release clause is to protect the player, not the club. Even If the club wanted to let him go for free, they can. What they CAN’T do, is decline a bid that matches the minimum fee release clause.

Look I don’t know any better than you, and I’m not going to say you’re wrong. What I will say though I’m more likely to believe a source whose sole objective is to aggregate this information than a ‘hunch’ from a villatalker whose only supporting evidence is Football Manager. Coutinho is valued at £43m in football manager And they have Digne on £125k per week - and we all KNOW he’s on at least quadruple that.

We signed him as a side in the championship from a side that had gained promotion from the championship. He was an average player in that side. It would not be beyond unreasonable to assume we paid him an average wage. https://blog.mansion.com/sports/football/average-salaries-for-players-in-all-four-divisions-of-english-professional-football/ Maybe the ONLY reason we extended his contract was BECAUSE his low wage demands represented good value? It’s not beyond the realms of being realistic, surely? The wage you can demand depends very much on what other offers are on the table. Maybe he’s on more. Who knows? Regardless, some random interwebs people making up things like ‘gave him a big contract’ and calling the people who gave him the contract stupid and then labelling the player as a ‘wasteman’ as a consequence of the aforementioned work of fiction - is stupid. You know nothing. Don’t make shit up. Whatever contract he was given may well have represented decent value for us at the time we offered it to him. Edit: (I’m not referencing you with ‘you’, it’s ‘you’ as in ‘one’)

How do you know we have him a ‘big’ deal? I’d wager his deal isn’t particularly big. According to sportac he’s on £8k per week? I don’t know how reliable they are. Maybe we even made a profit on him based on loan fees? Prob didn’t even pay his wages while he was out on loan Maybe we even had recall options to provide essential cover in disaster situations? I love how people jump to bizarre conclusions. He has a contract and didn’t play for us therefore he must be a wasteman and a parasite.
  5. Above was meant in reference to prejudice. Now you’ve got me confused. I’ve advocated all along that if there is no prejudice, then it is not racism, and I have been thinking all along that you were saying ‘no, the intention doesn’t matter..’ But your last post (which Is difficult to quote from a different page on my phone) says that if there is no prejudice then it’s not racism? - which was my original point? So are we in agreement that intention matters? @bobzy
  6. Ok I get your point. So let me give you an example. Say you are passing by, and my friend and I (strangers to you) are meeting and he’s a Chinese chap. He greets me with a racial slur, and I return the greeting with a racial slur. We hug, with a laugh, and proceed with a conversation. Would YOU (I’m assuming as a white man) believe either one of us to be racist? Now put aside for a second your thoughts on the appropriateness of such greetings. The question is that in that moment, would you believe either one of us to be racist?
  7. I think where we disagree is that I believe that there has to be a negative impact associated with the distinction made on race. Where that be actual, or intended, it would still be racism. I think you would define any distinction made based on race is racism. Would that be a correct assumption?
  8. Exactly right. We need to understand there is a difference between racism and racial profiling. Prejudice has its own connotations, and I don’t think you’ve got the context right. ’Latin women have massive asses’ - statement of opinion. Not racist. ‘I love Latin women because I love a girl with a big ass’ - racial profiling, stereotyping, not racist, positive discrimination. ’I can’t stand Latin women with their big asses’ - Racial profiling, stereotyping, and racist. The sentence is racist at the end of the first phrase. The justification is irrelevant. I have expressed a prejudicd based on race.
  9. I won’t argue about that at all. Absolutely right, and I thank you all for it. But I don’t find what Monchi did offensive. But you’re right, maybe others do. But like I said, there’s a difference between what IS racist, and what could be deemed to be racist. He probably will never do it again because he doesn’t want to offend anyone, but when he did do it, I’m convinced he wasn’t trying to offend anyone. We’re all just getting offended too easily these days.
  10. Is it? You literally said if someone tells you something, it must be true. no exaggeration. Literally that is what you said. My whole point is that we’re just following what we are told without thinking for ourselves. And you’re telling exactly this.
  11. It doesn't come from a place of hate or anything - it fact, having a massive cock is deemed to be a positive, but it's absolutely racism. That's my point. Prejudicism isn't always a hate thing. It's just that the worst kinds of it are. If I was to say I love Latin women because they have big asses… is that racist?
  12. But you see, the dictionary definition (you may argue that it is outdated - but that’s a separate debate) would say that for something to be racist, you need to have the belief that one race is inferior due to that point. so back to your question. The context is key. Two girls discussing boyfriends, and one saying to the other that she loves black men because: ’They have massive cocks’ - absolutely not racist. Stereotyping yes, racist no. There is no intent to degrade the race based on presumptions.
  13. If someone is telling you that the world is flat, doesn’t make it true. Disclaimer: Guys, as a member of an ethnic minority I absolutely feel the love in your opinions, and I thank you for having them. This is for debate purposes only.
  14. Ahhh, you see, it’s the language used. I take your quote and send it back to you.. ’the average penis length of a man of African descent is greater than that of his European counterpart.’ Racist or not?
  15. I don’t follow. Please explain.
  16. You see, that’s where I disagree. if we look at the dictionary definition of racism: The Oxford Dictionary defines racism as “Prejudice, discrimination, or antagonism directed against someone of a different race based on the belief that one 's own race is superior.” If further defines the same as “The belief that all members of each race possess characteristics, abilities, or qualities specific to that race, especially so as to distinguish it as inferior or superior to another race or races.” (Oxford Dictionaries | English, 2017) The dictionary definition absolutely suggests that intent is key. There is clearly a difference between what is racist and what could be deemed to be racist. As a decent human being, I will always do my best to avoid any situation where I could be deemed to be racist. That does not change my belief on what IS racist. In fact, replace the word racist with offensive, as it applies to everything.
  17. Absolutely, but I’m not being told by those that it ‘targets’ I’m being told by those that it doesn’t target. Entirely my point.
  18. Interesting take. So you would separate the two?
  19. What is more racist? A white man taking honour and pride in representing himself as a black king? Or a black king being replaced by a white king? I am sick and tired of being told what is racist. What is racist is what comes from the heart. You could spend your entire life without using the word coloured and not painting your face black yet harbour the most vile feelings towards black people. Or you could paint your face black every day, and dedicate your life to helping the poor and sick in Africa. In my opinion: Painting your face black and acting a fool or stupid to imply that the way you are acting is in keeping with your appearance is 100% racist. Painting your face black in honour of nobility is not racist. Those that take stock offence to these things, and telling everyone else to take offence also, are ruining this world for everyone. And no, I’m not ‘white’.
  20. Next time aim for a 2. That way when you come home with a 3 you’ll be over the moon. You’re welcome.
  21. If City come calling, then that’s another £100m. Aaron takes his place… Rinse and repeat.
  22. I’m not sure I follow?
