  1. I take the view of Europa League being a good competition for the next season. A Trophy they will be among the favs for. They are so rich from their stadium and commercial income CL money isn't important for them.
  2. Chelsea will be a tough game. I just feel like the two home games being at 8pm might help us with the atmosphere. Also with our away from being good we can get wins at Brighton and Palace. It's in our hands The one worry is Spurs best form is against the top sides. You'd still hope it would be tough for them to win away to Chelsea and Liverpool, especially as both rarely lose at home. I think they've both lost only once at home since October. Then Spurs at home to Arsenal and City (who could win and clinch title that game) those are tough games. I think they'll get a win a draw and 2 losses there. I just hope we can bring the energy levels, mid table teams at end of the season like Brighton and Palace with nothing to play for. We will be treating those games as finals
  3. When I did the numbers. I thought Spurs would win 3 of the remaining 6 games, draw one and lose 2. Which gives them 10 points and end on 70. So we needed 70 points and a better goal difference (which is risky as they play Sheffield United last game of season) or we need 71+
  4. Watkins has scored 27 goals and has 12 assists so far this season. Let that sink in for a minute.
  5. More of these types of signings please Monchi. Ta
  6. Two wins from last 4 games and we'll end 4th. Chelsea next will be tough as they're chasing European football as 6th will likely be Europa League and 7th is Conference, but they are away to Arsenal mid week while we can have a rest and Luiz is back.
  7. Massive result. Massive Inching the goal difference ahead too
  8. Mings is a completely different profile of player to Torres. Mings is a ball winner, defensive CB while Torres is a progressive passer attack minded CB. They're perfect profile to play together. If we lost Torres to injury we'd lack his skillset once Lenglet returns to Barcelona. I think Torres Mings Konsa Frimpong is like the idea back 4 Moreno Torres Carlos Konsa another option. That type of symmetry
  9. Hopefully the crowd can do it today. We've 3 home games left we need the noise for all of them. Next two are at 8pm
  10. Down to the bare bones. Bench is incredibly weak and this team going to be feeling the Lille game. It's not the end of the world of we don't win. We'll be fresh ler for Chelsea who have to play Arsenal mid week. We need at least two wins from remaining 5 games to have a chance of 4th. A win today would be huge though. Any kind of win
  11. Europa League is the same. There is a big chunk of money that gets given out to teams based on their past 10 years coefficient. Just another way for the biggest clubs to take more than the rest. Ultimately PSR Amos over a 3 year period and CL is just one season. Even more than that we have squad cost rules which we can't just assume we'll be in CL every season. The main benefit is it allows us increase the club profile and get sponsorships
  12. I think we need a backup for Torres ala Lenglet. For the LCB progressive passer given how frequently we play with 3 CBs we need 5 at the club. Even more so I think we'll see Pau at LB like we see Konsa at RB allows us to invert our attack and have the RB play as a RW CDM is key, we need someone there. I wouldn't rule out an experienced loan option as we have used the loan market well and Emery and Minchi have a track record of using it. A loan would not block the pathway for Tim and allow him more time to progress
  13. Remember two things. One is that all wages even those players on loan are represented under wages. Plus in the last accounts we had to pay up Gerrard and his staff almost 3 years worth of wages. So it's skewed high as a result. Our revenue is increasing, higher finishing positions in PL and a European Cup run. We have brought in younger players and hopefully can move on the players on high wages we don't need like Chambers and Dendonker.
  14. I remember when Conference League came in there were issues with the big 6 in particular Spurs because the contracts had bonus structures based Europa League being baseline prize money and additional payments for CL. So qualification to ECL was a net negative almost
  15. What will be interesting to know is how much extra wages the players get for being in Europe. They have to play more games and there are more incentives into contracts so clubs better balance income and wages.
  16. Exactly, look what happens happens. It's been a stellar 18 months under Emery. Just think back to the Fulham game at Craven Cottage under Gerrard. I also think Emery is a draw for players. Players will be thinking, this is a coach who will improve then. So the club is a draw
  17. He's had a decent enough season so far. His goals and assists per 90 is close to his level last season at Leverkusen. I think he'll kick on next season and let's be fair. Bailey has hit another level and this kind of competition is what we want
  18. This isn't true at all. If we don't qualify for CL we will probably need to be bringing in profit from a big sale to keep us on right side of the rules of we plan on doing and summer transfers. I think we will need to do that anyway regardless because we need the headroom to bring players in. The financial gap between EL and CL based on our expected progression between the two competitions would be 15m or so
  19. This loan for Dendonker hasn't worked out. He's two years left on a big wage hopefully we can at least find a Loan. Chambers, Hause and Coutinho also need to be sold or loaned out.
  20. Once I realised there are not teams dropping out of the CL to EL next season I immediately thought of it like the ECL this season. We are surely one of the favourites to win it no? Imagine winning a properly prestigious trophy like the Europa League. Only winning the PL or CL is bigger. We also get qualification to CL too. It would be a next step for us that's for sure. The exposure of going deep in a European Trophy again.
  21. Yeah prize money is €19.5m if we win it and additional home income. Assume sponsorship bonuses too for the increased exposure. I think there might not be a huge financial gap between going deep like SF/Final in Europa League Vs getting a couple of wins and going out on playoffs in CL next season in terms of prize money and additional attendance at games. The sponsors bonuses might be different though
  22. We'll make about £20m for ECL this season if we make the final.
  23. I think he would have played a lot as the second striker instead of Tielemans. A position he's really suited too because of his high work rate off the ball and his excellent passing ability and eye for a goal. I think he'll really excel there next season. Hopefully better luck with injuries next season will give us a deeper squad.
  24. I was thinking what must be going through his head standing there with the rest of the team watching the penalties unfold in a European game with raucous support. This isn't a cold night in Stoke. Credit to the scouting team and Emery himself for seeing the talent for moulding here. Was a good buy
