  1. Nooooo Why are we scoring. We can't afford extra time. Just exit this competition and focus on Bournemouth
  2. They obviously are. That's what odds are. Probability of something happening
  3. We're 1/2 or 1.5 in betting which is a 67% chance. Are you getting a probability from Opta or implied by betting odds?
  4. Having lived through so much pain for Villa wanting CL so much and making it do or die was stressing me out to no end. Being defeatist is a way of avoiding the pain of failure. But what is failure? I think we are now a top 8 side and we can compete for trophies and CL places and win any football game against any side. If we end 7th one season and 5th and get CL another as long as we can be sustainable and compete isn't that success? So by that metric this season is a success a resounding one. Nothing that can happen over the final games of the season can really change that Once I look at it from that perspective life isn't as stressful and every game doesn't bring agonising levels of nerves and stress.
  5. If we end up 5th sporting wise the Europa League is a better competition next season as there are no CL sides dropping into it. So surely we'd be amongst the favourites to win it. Also if we can make the final of The ECL we'll have a decent enough seeding for Europa. The loss of the extra CL place for Prem was a blip this season most seasons there will be 5 and with Europa we'll have an opportunity to win that and qualify. 5th and Europa League of that's what it ends up as is progression. Sporting fate robbed it of being CL qualification this year but of we get to 70 points whatever happens that's a huge achievement with the injury problems we've had. I worry a little this summer about the finances but seeing how Rogers has turned out so far is encouraging in terms of recruitment. While a season with Ramsey, Mings and Buendia back fit would be welcome boost. Duran is progressing too.

I use a chest strap with a watch, both Garmin. A watch is ok but sometimes it just goes wrong and gives HR that is clearly wrong. If you use the watch in combination with your percieved effort then it's good tool as they track everything for you and you know when the HR is wrong. If you want an accurate HR then get a chest strap (they are comfortable). The key thing to remember is you should be doing 90% of all your exercise at an easy effort. Easy means you can speak a sentence or two and hold a conversation if required but people would know you're exercising. The more you can build up to doing weekly at Easy pace the better. I think jog walk jog walk is the way to start and record how long you have done and look to increase the amount every week. I'm going to say it again. EASY, if you are reaching an effort where you are struggling then you are going too fast. It's all about effort levels, as you get fitter you will just be moving faster for the same effort. The key is walking / jogging / running the effort nothing else.
  7. Yeah moment the draw happened knew how bad it was and said at the time. Been slow motion since. If we can't get 7 or 8 points from our final 5 games we deserve to go into Europa League. We'll have a great chance of winning that too.
  8. Bournemouth game is must win now. We need to build a gap to Spurs as it'll heap pressure on them.

The speed a person runs or jogs at is irrelevant. What is relevant is the heart rate being raised by the increased exertion. Everything flows from that. So never worry about it. Just keep the motivation to keep doing it.
  10. In terms of points. There's no difference between the competitions now? 2 point for a win, 1 point draw and 1 point bonus qualifying for next round? Winning a final gets you 2 points for a win and another point? Or just the 2 points
  11. Well the difference about getting it this season is the financial aspect given our finances right now. The new format and the prestige it can give us. Plus looking at what Emery has done with Villareal going to semi final. It's more important right now as it's a kind of sliding doors moment for the club. If we don't get CL we need to sell a player like Luiz this summer so it's more the combination of losing it so late in season and the consequences of that which is why this whole run in has been so monumentally stressful unlike any other season as can see the two paths. Like our playoff final against Fulham there's a sporting prize and a financial consequence all on one thing
  12. Bournemouth, Chelsea, Brighton, Liverpool and Palace. It's there for us if we are good enough for 4th. If we get 5th and don't get Champions League we'll just have to go win the Europa League then.

Exactly, also it's a great way to start the day, you feel full of energy after a run. Parkruns are great because you can meet up with people catch up have a chat and grab breakfast after.

Rule of thumb which (as far as I know and most of people I know agree it's pretty accurate) is anywhere from 8s to 15s per km onto your best half marathon time. Depending on how fit and effective you are at longer vs shorter distances. So you're around 3m20s for half so should be 3m35s for full distance so around a 3h13m time. Running a 3h31m is like 5m per k which is probably just running close to where your aerobic threshold is. Maybe you've gone out too quick and not practiced fueling. Could be you needed to work on more long slower runs at aerobic threshold to improve it as maybe the gap between LT1 and LT2 was big. (ie aerobic and anerobic) so you end up using glycogen stores up around 25k (like I did in Paris due to being ill)
  15. Asked too much there. Looks like it goes to wire now for Villa. 4th or bust

Something isn't adding up, your 1:31 half should have you down at a sub 3:15 marathon at least. Maybe you need to tweak something minor like pacing or fuelling.
  17. His job is to get engagement in the show and in youtube clips. He's doing his job by saying outlandish things. Emery will likely leave for Madrid or Barcelona at some point. I think he will certainly see out all of next season with us. After that we move into the territory of "who knows"
  18. He any chance of making it to the French Squad?

Best thing you can do is jog and walk intervals. Jog a minute and then walk, jog a minute then walk. Etc.. The body is about adaptations. You should focus on easy exercise and look to increase the volume of amount of easy. These this myth that to get fit you need to be going hard and max your effort to improve. This is a fallacy. I still remember after about 5 or 6 years of basically unhealthy living around time I was in Uni and started working after. I decided to get fit and ran out of the house and down the road and around the corner and had to stop and walk back, wheezing and had a metallic taste in my mouth and lungs felt like they were on fire. Just build up slowly and the body adapts. Simple as that
  20. Best thing I could ever tell anyone about Money. Look at what you spend it on. People always want to earn more money, but most people are so wasteful with money that if they earn more they'll just waste it. For me everything has a value question. Take a new TV or new Laptop, if I currently have a TV or laptop what benefit is the expenditure going to get me in terms of improvements over what I currently have? Those items however have a utility over the period of time I own them. The stupidest thing to waste money on are things that are "brand recognition" items, like expensive clothes that give you no extra utility over regular clothes. So what are you getting by spending 3x more in something vs another? Same with Cars. The big issue with increasing these type of living expenses is you then will always require income to that level, you won't want to "drop down". All your spare cash between you outgoings and incomings should just go straight into mostly you Pension. By far most tax efficient and can afford you early retirement if you are wise enough throughout your life.

My guess is you don't run the volume of easy runs needed to get your aerobic threshold to level needed. Hardest thing to learn by far about running is that you need to run 80%+ of it at an easy pace zone 2 and never leave that zone. 180 mins a week of easy running over a prolonged period of time continues to eek out faster and faster speeds at that level. The key to fast marathons is your aerobic capacity. Once you run to your HR and measure time over the distance instead of running a pace over a distance you can see the benefits. Easy running takes next to zero effort and you don't feel tired after it.
