  1. I can't speak for everyone who was critical of the match but I am not 'worked up' myself. I am critical of the lack of creativity we are showing in the attacking third of the pitch and believe it needs to be addressed before the season starts or we will struggle to another mid table finish.
  2. OK, are we only allowed to point out our shortcomings once it is an official match then despite seeing the same problems in this match as we were seeing last season? I agree that there are preseason friendlies where you are just looking for a fitness workout, play players in odd positions, mix in youth players and make lots of subs and you can't tell anything from those. Then at some point in the preseason the matches get more focused, you start your strongest team and work on patterns and formations for the season. It looks like the Shrewsbury match was one of the latter types and it is worrying that nothing has changed from last season.
  3. Because we have been consistently poor for many years and are showing no signs of any improvement. Thinking things will be fine in the face of evidence to the contrary is the definition of blind hope.
  4. And we finished 6th in the Premier League after that successful preseason.
  5. Trump is beyond satire at times. The funniest bits of the comedy talk shows are not the jokes made by the hosts but simply the clips they find of Trump's lackeys or Trump himself saying or doing ridiculous things.
  6. Merkel is going to have an interesting autobiography when she retires.
  7. Shameful by the kid for posting racist guff? Shameful by the US president for retweeting rubbish found on Reddit? Shameful by CNN for tracking the source and threatening to out him? Or all of the above?
  8. I guess we'll never be able to judge the intent.
  9. Watch the whole thing from further out for context. In the build up Sagan is in front, Demare on Sagan's wheel and Cavandiah on Demare's wheel. Demare moves into the space to the right to overtake Sagan, Cavandish follows, staying locked on Demare's wheel. Sagan realises he is being overtaken by the two of them and shoves Cavandish into the hording to take Demare's wheel for himself. Ben Thatcher would be proud of Sagan's efforts
  10. Sagan has a bit of form for doing whatever it takes to make sure he gets the win. Wasn't Greipel also complaining about being elbowed by Sagan recently?
  11. I have seen a part of the interview quoted and he said the first bit: “What they are basically saying at the Congressional Budget Office, if you’re not going to force people to buy Obamacare, if you’re not going to force people to buy something they don’t want, then they won’t buy it,” the Speaker opined. “So, it’s not that people are getting pushed off a plan, it’s that people will choose not to buy something that they don’t like or want.” But I've never seen the rest of it shown or quoted anywhere else.
  12. The point is the Labor party gave people a chance to vote on their spending plan. May's deal was not in any manifesto.
  13. That's funny, Kid A was where I really got into them. Now I consider them one of all time my favorite bands, that album really was Marmite though.
  14. I was thinking the same thing. Stepping back from the fun of the election and thinking about things and you realise the UK has put itself in a self inflicted **** of a situation.
  15. Well, not to be morbid but you would have to subtract the Grenfell families who no longer need housing from that 120 units.
  16. The justification given for the cladding was that it would provide insulation and was done in tandem with a new heating system for the building. The aesthetics probably would have been a factor too, the Council probably saw it as a win win all round. It seems there has been a failure along the line with the fire regulations, either the strength of the regulations or their application.
  17. The UK government doesn't appear to know what it wants from the negotiations either. It is going to be a train wreck.
  18. I don't believe the conspiracy theory about police suppressing the number of fatalities. I think it is just that they are going on hard facts rather than taking a guess at the number like we are. If they find more remains they will update their total but until then they are just giving the facts to hand regarding the number of bodies recovered and the number of known missing people.
  19. There are some proper dickheads in the world.
