  1. Just got 4 tickets! Yay!.. Thats 4 more Villa fans in the home end
  2. Well i actually live just round the corner from the Pirelli stadium... There are loads of pubs around Burton & there used to be a "Pub run" many years ago starting at the top of Horninglow road North & then steadily heading down the hill all the way into the town centre... The challenge was that you had to stop & have a pint at every pub (Of which there are many) & if you made it into town still conscious then you were a true man lol! As for now many pubs have closed down due to the current anti-pub+club culture. So to the pubs ideal for pre match drinks:... Well the ground is situated on the corner of Derby Rd, Hawkins Lane (which comes from the town centre) & Princess way (Which goes into a large middle class housing estate called "Stretton"). The best pubs are in my opinion either in the town centre, The Lord Burton, The Devonshire, The Coopers Tavern (All drinkers pubs with the Lord Burton being right in the town centre & the other two being right near the train station (exit right & about 50 yards down the road).. Here is a map LINK: http://tinyurl.com/cbkqlng Also a decent pub on the Horninglow road called the Navigation inn & a little locals pub on Wetmore road which is probably the closest to the ground though never been in always seems busyish on match days. Let me know where everyone is going as i would love to come too .. I have tickets to the game (I'll be the one jumping up & down in the home end if Villa score lol) Also beware as Burton was actually recently voted the Chav capital of Britain I remember when they played Man U in the FA cup a couple of years ago.. their 3 Chavvy hooligans were mouthing off to the Utd lot until in town until the UTD lot turned out to be a crew & all stood up saying "OK who wants some then?" the Chavs were silenced!... You get the idea Oh & by the way Burton look a bit like Oxford Utd.. Most of their fans are armchair Man U & Liverpool fans.
  3. Reading this article it appears that Andy Carroll isn't into a move to VP anyways... He is mates with Mr Downing afterall & remember that "Take the p**s photo with him & Downing in too? Think he would do a job here but just cannot see him moving here. Link: http://tinyurl.com/d7c2e7a
  4. My goodness me i thought i was watching McCleish's Villa tonight! Absolutely shocking display of giving the ball away constantly & parking the bus. How we did not lose that game in normal time only the Italians will know!.. I have to say too that i just cannot believe the continuous over hyping of the simply awful Mr Wayne Rooney!.. What on earth does that guy have to "not" do to get a bit of criticism? It's now years since i actually saw him have a half decent game for England & yet listening to the media you would think he was Lionel Messi! .. I watched & counted & in the first half he was appalling & barely any better in the second apart from one or 2 very brief touches & the Penalty he scored...About 8 times from ten he failed to find his man & that was with simple 5 to 10 yard passes which a 5 year old could make! Baffling :?
  5. Can't say i'd fancy it No doubt all to to with the new Russian ownership.. Wouldn't be suprised to see a few Ruskies down there over the next few seasons.
  6. Close the thread he's signed on a 4 year deal for Reading (Russian owners) just on SSN!
  7. Was at the launch yesterday, some good bands by the way :winkold: Have to say i liked the long sleeved top better than the short & it does look much better with the PL badges in my opinion... Was a little unsure at first glance as it looked kind of "unbalanced" but then realised the ones i was looking at didn't have the GENTING logo on nor the PL badges as they were the ones for kids. Have to say when i realised that the Macron logo on the shoulders was actually light blue to match the sleeves & saw the fully fledged kit with Pl stickers & Genting logo it did look much more well balanced & actually quite nice... The more i saw the away strip though the more it grew on me.. Very slick & should be a real eye catcher in the kind of electric yellow/lime green.. Did only see it on the large posters however so guess the jury is still out on that one. Overall great day despite the rain & was great to go on the mini tour & be able to actually touch the European Cup too!!.. Shame someone nicked Carlos Cuellars top from the dressing room mind! The guide was not happy!
  8. Obviously this was for last season but whilst we are at it.... I don't believe we have a suitable captain at the club at this point with the current Petrov situation.
  9. Yeah, I agree. It was truly horrible watching us this season. I used to travel up to VP knowing full well I'd only see us score two goals at best. Another interesting stat: Mc teams only scored more than one goal in 10 out of his last 151 games. Shocking. That stat just really does say it all
  10. I remember another time we were all unsure & moaning about signing an ageing centre forward in his 30's... He went on to score the winner in a European cup final I wouldn't mind him here actually & trust PL's judgement..If he wants him he should know his abilities more than anybody so get him in!
  11. Welcome Paul!.. Very pleased you decided to come here & try to awaken this sleeping giant. Have to say i am amazed at the number of "rats in the kitchen" which have emerged during this process & the incredible amount of pundits who clearly have blinked vision as well as players, fans & the like who have crawled out of the woodwork to try & belittle this club whilst it was clearly at a very low point in it's glamourous history. Ill informed & infected with sky4itis the lot of you & clearly you all have rather selective memories too. This club has enormous potential & as THE original World "superclub" way back in the day & also the 5th most successfull English team ever i simply cannot fathom the reaction of these people labelling us & even comparing us with the likes of Norwich City, Wigan etc.. Are these people actually real? We have just recently celebrated the 30th anniversary of winning the games ultimate prize & yet are then subjected to slants of "why would he go from Norwich to Villa?" We have a bit of a false image in no small part due to a certain chairman who resided here for 25 years or so & ran the place like a corner shop.. This for me is why so many have lost respect for this club.. 25 years is a long time & means there is a whole generation of fans, pundits & indeed players who simply were not alive when this club was last fulfilling it's potential so they just can't see it... Time to awaken the lion
  12. Thing is it is pretty clear that Norwich are purely trying to "Play" this situation to extract money from Randy... I understand they are angry at losing their manager of course & understandably so & indeed who can blame them for trying to get what they can from the situation? But then surely refusing to accept a resignation purely in a clear attempt to extract money from the situation when you will then happily accept that resignation will be rather a tough one to get through the courts? Who knows? i am certainly no expert in law so maybe i miss the point?
  13. I also have to agree Richard is weirding me out a tad... I even had a weird dream last night about a load of giant bats with huge pointy ears being sat around a big field with the two guys off Richards avatar laughing merrily in the middle of them eating grapes?!
  14. If the cap fits........ Not surprised we moan when we are constantly put down by the likes of TS & told what a diddly little club we are by these people & many others in the media as well as Managers & owners such as Whelan, Holloway etc etc etc.. Their attitude is they simply dismiss us as some piddly little club & then think we should all simply shut up & accept our piddly little lot & be happy about it...You know what? ....Up Yours Quinn!!
  15. ""Yes, you may have a top manager, but you won't rest easily, he walks out on everyone....including his wife!"" But of course have you not met his Mentor?
  16. LFC scenario is nothing to do with Lambert. Just last min brinkmanship. Sure your right just a bit jumpy until this is sealed completely
  17. Hmmmn... They are reporting on SSN that they have now found out he DIDN'T quit he just stormed out. Also a mysterious snag in the Liverpool-Rogers deal They are hesitating about the compensation??? Hopefully not linked to PL situation?
  18. I too scared to say to much until it's absolutely confirmed but if he does come i would be delighted with the appointment Definitely in the top 3 options for me so well happy & will back him all the way..IF HE COMES
  19. Another one off the list!.. Just announced on SSN that Claudio Ranieri has just been appointed new boss of Monaco!
  20. Well i think Martinez would be an absolute breath of fresh air to this stale old club. He is without doubt the most positive manager i think i have ever seen & that surely to goodness is exactly what we need here as Aston Villa has been strangled for far too long by a cloud of negativity... Negative press, negative managers, negative fanbase in fact negative from top to bottom to inside & out... The negativity is infectious & i think large swathes of our fanbase, & i'll include myself in that on occasion too especially last season, players & in fact everyone associated with the club has been touched by it to some extent over the last 2 dog awful seasons. Just take a look at many of the posts coming in already at the 1st hint that he may be the man................ Negative! Mr Martinez could have the exact opposite effect by similarly spreading a wave of positivity through the club...Positivity is also infectious & i can't wait for the day when we have a positive manager, positive football, positive players & positive fans & you know what? that may even generate some long overdue positive press about this great club! He promotes attacking attractive football & whilst any new manager poses a bit of a risk element i would be delighted if he comes here.
  21. I can't see how we are even involved in all this Martinez talk... Nothing has come from loose lips i'm a closet Liverpool fan Whelan nor from any of the local media... Daily Mail doesn't count as they simply make it up as they go. There is just a distinct lack of smoke around the whole situation So for me it's nothing more than he was given permission to talk to Pool & is still ongoing. The rest for me is just media BS.
  22. No that story is of Kev Mac & Gareth Southgate Presume it was this one Link: http://tinyurl.com/csb382m
