  1. Obviously this was for last season but whilst we are at it.... I don't believe we have a suitable captain at the club at this point with the current Petrov situation.
  2. Yeah, I agree. It was truly horrible watching us this season. I used to travel up to VP knowing full well I'd only see us score two goals at best. Another interesting stat: Mc teams only scored more than one goal in 10 out of his last 151 games. Shocking. That stat just really does say it all
  3. I remember another time we were all unsure & moaning about signing an ageing centre forward in his 30's... He went on to score the winner in a European cup final I wouldn't mind him here actually & trust PL's judgement..If he wants him he should know his abilities more than anybody so get him in!
  4. Welcome Paul!.. Very pleased you decided to come here & try to awaken this sleeping giant. Have to say i am amazed at the number of "rats in the kitchen" which have emerged during this process & the incredible amount of pundits who clearly have blinked vision as well as players, fans & the like who have crawled out of the woodwork to try & belittle this club whilst it was clearly at a very low point in it's glamourous history. Ill informed & infected with sky4itis the lot of you & clearly you all have rather selective memories too. This club has enormous potential & as THE original World "superclub" way back in the day & also the 5th most successfull English team ever i simply cannot fathom the reaction of these people labelling us & even comparing us with the likes of Norwich City, Wigan etc.. Are these people actually real? We have just recently celebrated the 30th anniversary of winning the games ultimate prize & yet are then subjected to slants of "why would he go from Norwich to Villa?" We have a bit of a false image in no small part due to a certain chairman who resided here for 25 years or so & ran the place like a corner shop.. This for me is why so many have lost respect for this club.. 25 years is a long time & means there is a whole generation of fans, pundits & indeed players who simply were not alive when this club was last fulfilling it's potential so they just can't see it... Time to awaken the lion
  5. Thing is it is pretty clear that Norwich are purely trying to "Play" this situation to extract money from Randy... I understand they are angry at losing their manager of course & understandably so & indeed who can blame them for trying to get what they can from the situation? But then surely refusing to accept a resignation purely in a clear attempt to extract money from the situation when you will then happily accept that resignation will be rather a tough one to get through the courts? Who knows? i am certainly no expert in law so maybe i miss the point?
  6. I also have to agree Richard is weirding me out a tad... I even had a weird dream last night about a load of giant bats with huge pointy ears being sat around a big field with the two guys off Richards avatar laughing merrily in the middle of them eating grapes?!
  7. If the cap fits........ Not surprised we moan when we are constantly put down by the likes of TS & told what a diddly little club we are by these people & many others in the media as well as Managers & owners such as Whelan, Holloway etc etc etc.. Their attitude is they simply dismiss us as some piddly little club & then think we should all simply shut up & accept our piddly little lot & be happy about it...You know what? ....Up Yours Quinn!!
  8. ""Yes, you may have a top manager, but you won't rest easily, he walks out on everyone....including his wife!"" But of course have you not met his Mentor?
  9. LFC scenario is nothing to do with Lambert. Just last min brinkmanship. Sure your right just a bit jumpy until this is sealed completely
  10. Hmmmn... They are reporting on SSN that they have now found out he DIDN'T quit he just stormed out. Also a mysterious snag in the Liverpool-Rogers deal They are hesitating about the compensation??? Hopefully not linked to PL situation?
  11. I too scared to say to much until it's absolutely confirmed but if he does come i would be delighted with the appointment Definitely in the top 3 options for me so well happy & will back him all the way..IF HE COMES
  12. Another one off the list!.. Just announced on SSN that Claudio Ranieri has just been appointed new boss of Monaco!
  13. Well i think Martinez would be an absolute breath of fresh air to this stale old club. He is without doubt the most positive manager i think i have ever seen & that surely to goodness is exactly what we need here as Aston Villa has been strangled for far too long by a cloud of negativity... Negative press, negative managers, negative fanbase in fact negative from top to bottom to inside & out... The negativity is infectious & i think large swathes of our fanbase, & i'll include myself in that on occasion too especially last season, players & in fact everyone associated with the club has been touched by it to some extent over the last 2 dog awful seasons. Just take a look at many of the posts coming in already at the 1st hint that he may be the man................ Negative! Mr Martinez could have the exact opposite effect by similarly spreading a wave of positivity through the club...Positivity is also infectious & i can't wait for the day when we have a positive manager, positive football, positive players & positive fans & you know what? that may even generate some long overdue positive press about this great club! He promotes attacking attractive football & whilst any new manager poses a bit of a risk element i would be delighted if he comes here.
  14. I can't see how we are even involved in all this Martinez talk... Nothing has come from loose lips i'm a closet Liverpool fan Whelan nor from any of the local media... Daily Mail doesn't count as they simply make it up as they go. There is just a distinct lack of smoke around the whole situation So for me it's nothing more than he was given permission to talk to Pool & is still ongoing. The rest for me is just media BS.
  15. No that story is of Kev Mac & Gareth Southgate Presume it was this one Link: http://tinyurl.com/csb382m
  16. Well it seems business at VP is closed once again until Mr Lerner gets back next week... It's usually Tuesday isn't it? Clearly nothing happening here untill then :|
  17. Yeah thats my take on it too..Whelan was on SSN last night saying it would cost 2-3m to get him as he signed an extension i think last season or just before it... Also criticised Liverpool in a sense by saying he didn't think as Americans they quite understand football over here & they may not be willing to give RM complete control of footballing matters from youth level to 1st team & RM would insist on having that which could just be a potential sticking point...No mention of us though at all just that if he didn't take to Pool job he would love him to stay at Wigan.
  18. I think the problem here with the process is not the time it's taking to actually find & appoint the right manager..Obviously we all want the club to find the right guy & if that takes a bit of time then so be it... but rather the fact that we have a dog awful squad of players here that has narrowly avoided relegation for the last 2 seasons & we have just released another 3 of our best back up players in Heskey, Cuellar & Guzan so that squad is now even weaker than it was last season. OK we have Brett H incoming but he is a midfielder so replaces none of those 3 although was badly needed. So i think that is where the concern of some is arising from.. not the actual process of the manager search in itself but rather the urgency due to the state of the team underlying the whole situation.. It's a conundrum it really is.. We could find the right guy but even he may struggle with whats at his disposal player wise & he is getting less & less time to rectify the situation as each day passes. So this is in no way impatience or petulance at the speed of the manager hunt but rather genuine concern as to the current state of the team & the time it is going to take to sort it out. At least thats my concern. We also have the Euro's which will shorten the window for transfer activity to a point surely as one transfer usually bounces off movement involving another transfer etc ..Well the Euro's will clog up that movement to a point thus stifling the transfer market for a while. Maybe it won't matter ..who knows but i think it's this which is causing what on the surface appears to be impatience ..It's not, it's just fans who care deeply about the club panicking a touch i guess... At least thats my take on it especially when it appears all the main "young & vibrant" type managers are either showing more of an interest in other vacancies or a lack of an interest in ours! I want the right man..of course & if that takes some time so be it. But i also don't want him to be handicapped with a lack of time to assess the current squad, make changes & prepare for the new season :?
  19. I am now getting rather frustrated with this football club once again i have to say.. We have Liverpool = Moving in on Martinez = 1 of our apparent targets West Brom = Now in talks with Ranieri according to reports in the Telegraph tonight Lambert = Would rather stay at Norwich Rogers = would rather stay at Swansea Aston Villa = Randy Lerner about to fly of home once again for another 3 or 4 days with yet again apparantly nothing sorted apart from the fact all the best targets are not interested or are off elsewhere :? My interest level even in our new manager search is now dwindling pretty damn quickly... It's just so dull it defies belief! We need something to cling to here Randy!
  20. I guess we actually know next to nothing really do we?! Despite hundreds or pages of ITK's, Press reports, Hints, tips, Betting indicators & cryptic comments......We know a big fat 0
  21. Nah he's surely off to pool... I don't think we are now capable of attracting any one of any Ilk. Whelan just been on TV saying basically he ill probably go to Pool unless they won't give him complete control over football matters from youth to 1st team...But its totally different to the belittling stuff we got pasted with last summer....Oh & this!
  22. Agreed! I think i am right in saying most players contracts & many holidays end in June so we need to have someone in place by then surely? The thing that worries me is if we get another "i will asses the squad this summer" speech as this has been a major hindrance over the last 2 summers already De ja Vu or what
