  1. Got to admit I agree with this, I read 'em all and it left me hollow. What on God's green earth could McLeish benefit from shadowing an NFL coach around for a week? The two sports have almost nothing in common. I'm seeing RL more and more as some completely inept spoilt boy billionaire who inherited it all and is playing at sports tycoon and failing miserably. He almost got it right with us by pumping money in, but then missed the bus when first ManC, then the recession then his divorce smacked him in the face. I didn't think it would come to this, but after that little read I have a deeply ominous feeling that other than the off field improvements, RL hasn't a clue as to how to run a football team. With this little whimsey, I think he's lost it completely.
  2. wow the continued illusion and delusion going on on RAWK is staggering, Plop fans going on about how the club has betrayed them, that it's just a PR stunt, that Suarez has nothing to apologise for and that Evra dropped his hand (again and again and again....) hilarious.
  3. Go for it, I did a fair bit of rock climbing and a little mountaineering years ago, got to Annapurna Basecamp and up around 16,000 ft into Langtang in Nepal, Did some climbing in Yosemite, N Wales, the Lake District and in Bavaria, I always wanted to do something bigger myself, I liked the big granite walls like up in N Pakistan, as well as here in places like the Bugaboo range. awesome stuff. Had bigger plans than anything that got done in the end but had a lot of fun and met some great people doing it. Got married and haven't put on any climbing boots in years now.
  4. ^ nicely posted, there are some things larger than football.
  5. how utterly sad and pathetic...or is that pathetically sad. Aston Villa fans are above this. Or should be. Good grief, I can't believe this nonsense.
  6. dirty player. simple as that I'm afraid. Wouldn't want him at Villa Park.
  7. as far as it goes, no, technically it doesn't matter a whit who is captain. However, since traditionally the England team has been followed by legions of young, impressionable kids who follow the side's every move, and since allegedly the England players are supposed to be role models, then one would HOPE that the captain would be chosen NOT ONLY on the merits of his playing skill, but also for his qualities as a leader and role model for youngsters. One would HOPE that this person would at least attempt to exemplify a semblance of civil behaviour on AND off the field as he would be a sports ambassador for ENGLAND. One would hope that the person chosen wouldn't frequent prostitutes, sleep with teammates wives/girlfriends, not bash people in the face while drunk at a nightclub, not stub burning cigarettes out in peoples faces, not spit at fans and generally behave like a human being, not a thug. wishful thinking I'm sure and a ludicrous concept in this modern age but one can only hope. By the way, before anyone jumps, I am using the above examples as examples of things "Bad" footballers do, not implying that JTerry has done any or all of those things himself.
  8. Wayne Rooney is nowhere near mature enough to be considered for this position. His reaction to the fans last year indicated to me anyways that he has a long way to go before he should wear the armband. Barry would be better in that role than Rooney.
  9. Scott Parker, a guy who doesn't give up, passionate and a fantastic work ethic. Would love him at Villa.
  10. I might be a little crazy to suggest this, but I am getting the distinct impression that Khaldoun is quite happy with the idea of letting CT rot, even if it costs his salary while doing so. I think he has a point to prove to be honest, and I think it's now a matter of pride. This guy is a sheik, extraordinarily rich, and I do believe he isn't about to allow some brainless Argie to take the mickey out of him. the massive fines will recoup some of the losses in wages, but I think if no-one comes in for him (and it's looking increasingly as though no-one will), then he will happily ensure CTs career is ruined. CT is a fool, and personally I hope I never see him play again, for anyone. This is a really great thing, in one way, if the above is in any way true, because it will be the beginning of the breaking of the spine of "player power" which in many ways is at the root of the cancer in football. Time to start honouring contracts, playing for the shirt and ditching the mercenary approach. Am I living in cloud cuckoo land or is there a light at the end of the tunnel?
  11. ^ Enjoy your win? What, d'you support another team then? Since when does a fan NOT be happy with a win? I'm missing something here or has the nature of the english fan changed since I used to live there?
  12. Canadian Villan here, excellent result, excellent win. Keane MOM, McLeish deserves at least a nod of some respect for this one, I'm a Villan, and I'm happy with this. We could be better, but we won, that's what matters. That is all. UTV
  13. New stand, only the bottom tier is open at the moment though. thanks for the info, never been there.
  14. what's with that upper level of the stands at Molineux? are there seats up there or is that the roof? looks either ass if they are renovating or there is an entire level unused?

  16. as a Canadian, I'd have to put money down on the wolverine, they are mean in the extreme. Anything willing to tackle a grizzly, I mean, come on.
  17. ^ ermmm, Tony, ideological blinders or not, that is so far from true I'm almost speechless. I mean, c'mon, surely you have to admit His Chimpness before 'bama must win the prize for sheer idiocy and incompetence??? I mean, Iraq, Katrina and so on have to count for something...
  18. You lot can laugh about this, we have to live beside this freakshow. It's bizzaroworld down there.
