  1. Dutch international centre back who gave up champions league football to come here for the same money Wiz and his beloved Norwich paid for Snodgrass.
  2. Genius move by Lambert letting him play a few games while we were in the US.
  3. Not all but even 10% would equate to about £50million.
  4. I think he'll do well there. Liverpools problem in recent years has been performances against the weaker teams. He will make sure they are tough to beat & his possession style of football should be effective against the weaker teams in the league, that being said I think he needs to strengthen the back 4 and I also read a nice article on the decline of Pepe Reina in recent seasons.
  5. The same could be said about Brendan Rodgers, who's record isnt half as impressive as Lamberts.
  6. To be honest Id get over it if we were like man city. In fact Id love it.
  7. Not sure but I hope not.
  8. bit different, Wickham had been touted as a real hot prospect for a few years not sure Cresswell had similar enough hype It was £8mil with add ons rising to £12mil.
  9. The Cleveland Browns addressed rumors of being sold by issuing this statement from owner Randy Lerner: "In connection with current rumors and press inquiries, I can report that I’ve been approached by Mr. Jimmy Haslam, who is interested in making an investment in the Cleveland Browns. We are currently in negotiations and both sides have agreed to keep that dialogue and its details private. Given that any transaction would require League approval, care has been taken so that this process will not be disruptive to the organization, in particular the football team, as it prepares for the upcoming season. We will share further details or make an announcement if it becomes necessary.” Clicky
  10. Could well be us. We seem to like players not mentioning us when talking about deals. I think the 3 clubs linked were us Sunderland & Wigan. Cant see MoN being in for someone who hasnt played in England & Scotland before or isnt the country's Zidane.
  11. Ipswich got £8.1 million of Sunderland last year for Conor Wickham! Wonder how much they can get off us, if, we are indeed interested.
  12. Ipswich Town are in the Championship and are expected to challange for promotion to the Premier League next season. Think he's talking about Rhodes.
  13. not that bad for cresswell really. hes a main player at a club that is still something like the 5th or 6th richest lesgue in europe, he signed a contract extension only last year snd the fee also reflects potential. 4-6mil is not so expensive in those terms. If he only had a year left then we might get him for 2mil. But why would you pay 6M for a player that is unproven at this level when you could probably look abroad and pick up the same potential about 1 or 2M. Arsene Wenger has been doing it for years. They slap stupid fees on English players and then people moan we have too many foreign players in the league and the England team is suffering. This is also very true. If Wenger actually suplimented these players with the odd 25million player they'd walk the league. Here's hoping that Lambert's time in Germany means he has a few contacts and can snap up some cheap German gems.

If he only had a year left then we might get him for 2mil. I know what you're saying, I think the figures just seem huge considering, it wasnt so long ago that £1mil would be an awful lot of money for the top goal scorer in Leage One or Division Two. In fairness out of the last few to win golden boot in that division, 2 have gone on to score a goal each in The Premiership, Jason Scotland (versus us) & Simon Cox. Although all have proven very good Championship level strikers.
  15. 6 mil?! Please tell me this is a joke. I was stating had Mcleish still been in charge and a bid of £6mil came in for Gabby right after the Norwich game, that AMc would definitely have had to have a look at that bid with serious consideration, especially when you factor in his wages. I'm a huge fan of Gabby and he's scored some very important goals for us, but from a neutral point of view I think £6mil wouls have been realistic at that time and a lot of people on here would have snapped someone's hand off for it.
  16. The price of lower league players is atrocious at the minute. The figures being touted for this Cresswell lad & Rhodes just seem crazy considering what they've done. In fairness to Wenger he got that Jenkison lad for a million quid.
  17. Nice one, I'd love to see Dunne & Collins gone before WHU.
  18. One thing I will say is I feel O'Neill doesnt have the silly money he had here up at Sunderland. That being said I do think Dunne, Collins & Warnock could all be good value was he to sign them, but only him. He definitely needs a left back as I checked and Bardsley played the bulk of his last few games at left back. Plus he would appear to be collecting centre halves there and I honestly (King Carlos aside) dont think I'd have any of them here.
  19. Its tough to say Gabby has a really poor 2 seasons in terms of goal scoring and Carroll's value is always going to be inflated due to the silly money Liverpool paid at the time. Also Gabby is at the moment on a downward slope, while Carroll pretty much hit rock bottom before a strong finish (by his liverpool standards) to the season coupled with his performances for England in the Euros. If you look at Gabby before O'Neill left I believe we could have got up to £15mil for him, had City, Liverpool etc come in for him. However, at the end of last season with AMc in charge you'd probably take something like £6mil under serious consideration. To get Carroll before he joined Liverpool you'd have thought £15mil - £20mil would be more than enough considering his lack of experience at this level and how well he would have appeared to have adapted to the league. One thing which is very interesting is Gabby has 53 goals in 214 premiership games or 25%, Carroll has 20 in 83 or 24%.
  20. Ian Taylor & Andy Weimann tweeted around an hour ago that they landed in Heathrow and are getting a coach to BMH. Hopefully some transfers
  21. To be fair 3 first team strikers of Bent, Gabby & Carroll would be simply awesome. Just looking solely at a creating chances point of view. If you had him in the box the amount of headers he could knock back to DB for simple tap ins, and the knock ons out the field that would leave gabby in a race with a defender would mean a lot of goals. That being said, it is quiet obvious that Lambert is focusing on a possession game and keeping the ball on the floor, while I do think Carroll is imense, he does not suit this system, as Brendan Rodgers has stated and therefore I dont think we'll be seeing him in a Villa shirt anytime soon.
