  1. Out of the above I'd love Essien but I'd have worries about his fitness. As for Lennon, O'Neill should have signed him when Ramos wanted to offload him for £2mil, and we would have had a midfield of Young Barry Petrov Lennon.
  2. The problem with that formation is that the full backs are completely exposed, we do not have the full backs in place for the system either going forward or defensively. If you are suggesting a 4-5-1 in which case it could work, however I would be very much against that set up, mainly as Gabby is not a winger as he can't cross the road not to mind a football.
  3. He's clearly a young lad and wants to force through a move to the premier league. With the way their director is talking he clearly feels it is necessary.
  4. Hoping this goes through. We definitely need another striker and there's not man strikers who can bang in 16 goals in any leage at the age of 21.
  5. 3rd top goal scorer in the Belgian League last year and his strike partner Jelle Vossen was second so he probably help him out with a few of those. Get him in I say. Plus the talent coming out of Belgium in recent years has been fantastic.
  6. Like his age, but is he prolific enough?
  7. Don't believe it for a second, after the money Wolves made last week they'd be mad to sell, and could probably ask for £12mil seeing as they got £10m for Jarvis & £14m for Fletcher. The fact they paid so much will clearly mean they won't sell cheap. Much better options available.
  8. With regard Berbatov, it's obvious that we are lacking in supplying the forwards with decent balls, so I dont think another front man is the immediate option (although we definitely need one), I'd like a box to box midfielder in the Tiote/Essien mould and also a tricky pacey winger who can beat a man, add in a left back a striker and maybe a few more squad players.
  9. Berbatov would be mad to move to us. Granted he'd get games every week but he could move to a lot of leagues and be a superstar. Plus, there's his wage demands, for a club who is trying to cut wages he could prove a huge gamble.
  10. In my opinion, we need a few bulky players, our team is the lightest I have ever seen it. A midfield that includes Holman, Bannan, Ireland, N'Zogbia. None of these lads are physical beasts. KAE looks strong and agile but I think we are missing a lot of physical players, even in the back line. Need to buy some men as oppossed to boys!
  11. I'm expecting at least 4 players this week. Expecting is probably the wrong word hoping or praying would be better.
  12. I did a post previously which showed who we paid in the accounts year ended 31.05.2011. I since applied what I thought was a realistic wage (in some cases very generous) for the players and multiplied it by the number of weeks they were paid. The wage bill only came to £54mil of the £83mil we paid out in wages, now it does not include non-playing staff, but I still think it makes for interesting reading.
  13. What was Arsenal's last week? Or Newcastle's at the start of last season. As someone above said, KAE was our best player and Hazard has played 3 games and been Chelsea's best player in all 3.

    Relegation

Squad? What's a squad. I'll tell you what has happened, we beat Juventus and a few other sides in the Peace Cup a few years back using youth players and the board clearly felt they were miles better than what they are. In my opinion none, yes no of the recent graduates are good enough, Weimann as a fourth choice striker is the only one I'd have, I'd to turn the game off after Fellani's goal today, N'Zogbia, Ireland, Bent, Dunne, Given, I'd sell the lot. Bring in 12 players between now and January.

That's not acceptable we are Aston Villa not Reading, Wigan.
  16. 6 players in 6 days. Can't see it. I wonder can Henke find some good players for The Championship.
  17. When you look at the last set of financial statements which was concerned with the year ended 31.05.2011 our wages amounted to £83million. First team players we were paying at one point or another were as follows. Friedel, Guzan (7 months), Marshall (10 months), Young, Warnock, Dunne, Davies (4.5 months), Clark, Beye, Cuellar, Collins, Lichaj, Baker, Lowry, Walker (5 months), Bouma (1 month), O'Halloran (1 month), Shorey (2 months). Downing, Young, Pires (6.5 months), Ireland (5.5 months), Albrighton, Bradley (4 months), Delph, Makoun (4.5 months), Petrov, Reo-Coker, Bannan (11 months), Osbourne (8 months), Hogg (8 months), Herd, Johnson, Milner (2.5 months), Sidwell (7 months). Carew (7.5 months), Agbonlahor, Delfouneso (10 months), Heskey, Bent (4.5 months), Weimann, Harewood (1 month). When you compare those to the season just gone. Given (10.5 months), Guzan, Marshall, Parish (8.5 months). Young (3 months), Hutton (9 months), Stevens (5 months), Warnock, Dunne, Collins, Clark, Cuellar, Lichaj, Baker (11 months), Beye (5 months), Lowry (6 months). Young (0.5 months), Downing (1.5 months), Hogg (3 months), N'Zogbia (10 months), Jenas (4 months), Ireland, Albrighton, Delph (11 months), Makoun (3months), Petrov, Bannan, Herd, Johnson, Williams, Gardner (11 months), Carruthers, Grealish. Keane (1.5 months), Bent, Agbonlahor, Delfouneso (11 months), Heskey, Weimann (11 months), Burke. And finally this for the first 2.5 months of this financial year. Given, Guzan (1 month), Marshall, Siegrist. Hutton, Warnock, Vlaar (0.5 month), Dunne, Clark, Stevens, Lichaj, Baker, Lowton, Williams, Collins (2 months). Ireland, El Ahmadi, N'Zogbia, Albrighton, Holman, Delph, Makoun, Bannan, Herd, Johnson, Gardner, Grealish, Carruthers. Bent, Agbonlahor, Delfouneso, Weimann, Burke. No idea of the exact figures but for me our wage budget at this moment in time can not be over £50mil, and maybe even under £40mil.
  18. Was talking to a Sunderland mate of mine, and he's quiet excited about Fletcher & Johnson and reckons they will have a very good team if O'Neill can sign a right back (didn't want to spoil that for him.). Told me the likely first XI and it left Gardner, Ji, Bramble, Larsson, Westwood, Meyler, Bardsley, Vaughan, Saha, Wickham, Elmohamady, Campbell & Killgallon all fighting for a place on the bench. That's 13 players and knowing how opposed to shipping players & changing his team Mon is, I started to think the wage bill must be enormous, if there is 24 players all capable of starting within the team.
  19. Another lad saying it's Olsson and that he was there. Saw a rumour of £2.5m & Warnock.
  20. Not at that price. For 10m you want a top class player not an 'he's alright on his day player'. Haven't we learnt anything from our N'Zogbia lesson ? And to be fair to Charlie, he's had far more 'great' days than Jarvis ever has How there's an 8m valuation difference between Jarvis and Kightly is baffling. I get the feeling Wolves value that 1 England cap at about £5mil.
  21. Jones averages a goal every 5 games, he'd be like Heskey 2.0. Plus, whats he on at Stoke? No point, go out and buy someone on the continent, Lukaku on loan would have been ideal. If we buy Jones and he eventually goes very stale we'll be stuck with a big enough earner who is not prolific. Same to be said about Defoe, Id love him here, but his wages and age are a huge negative despite the fact he is brilliant!
