  1. Cool Britannia to me, is Northern Uproar playing to 5 people, at in store gig at Pretty Green in Manchester, 15 years after they has a couple of minor hits on the back of it. File under Meh.
  2. Ah an old school England batting collapse! How many runs did Tuffers get?
  3. I'll not judge, till both teams have batted, but you've got to say that was an almost perfect start for England.
  4. Is 'with your mom' an acceptable answer in context? Only if you're American Or some uneducated Northerner... just to keep the peace. Oh, not this again. "Mom" is NOT northern - it's midlands/Brummie. Yep, a lot of people call their mom, mam up here.
  5. I never used to go to the pub on Christmas Day, but in the last 4 years (since my parents have moved to a different town to me) it's become a bit of a tradition for a few regulars to go to the local on the night, and have a bit of a lock in. There's usually some free quaff on the go, and a buffet of left overs from everyone's lunches. The guitars come out and we have a bit of a sing song. It's bloody great.
  6. A warm up for what's to come...
  7. Is that you Shane Warne? Nothing wrong with the way Cook captains the side at all, in my opinion. Generally speaking I think he is naive and tends to play too defensive. I can see why that's said about him, but he gets results. The same was said about Strauss, and we won back to back Ashes, and became the number one test side in the world with those tactics. Also for a captain who is too negative (and let's be honest bang out of form with the bat), he still managed to win his last series 3-0, against a team captained by supposedly the best captain in the world. When we start getting white washed, and lose more that one sereis on the bounce, then I'll start to question him. Until then, if aint broke, don't fix it.
  8. Pick my brother and his mrs up, drive to my parents, exchange gifts, dinner, The Queen, cup of tea and a slice of Christmas cake, drive home, pub, lock in for the regulars. Oh and then home to watch a a bit of the Boxing Day Test (although I'll probably fall asleep, due to the amount of ale I've put away).

  10. Happy to go with Tremlett, if he gets the nod. The Aussies will not enjoy facing him. Think the batting line up is pretty nailed on, with Carberry opening, and Root at 6. I've got no problems with Bairstow as WK either, if Prior doesn't make it. The talking is pretty much done now. The Aussies have done what they do, and told the world they're targeting this batsman or that bowler, and we're no good. Well let's just wait and see.
  11. I was born on July 5th We share a birthday. Same day as Stan Petrov's too.
  12. You are Alan Partridge, and I claim my £5.
  13. He just liked being Panthro. I wasn't complaining, I got to be Lion-O. I remember there was also a time when it was argued whether Darius or I was the hardest lad in school. I think it was due to the fact I was taller than most of the other lads, rather than my fighting skills. Although going back to my original point, I was an excellent Lion-O. Ha ha. Ginger! I'm not ginger. No ginger child has ever been a contender to be hardest lad in the school, ever.

  15. Vassell Nope. Me and Darius used to play ThunderCats together. I was Lion-O, he was Panthro.
  16. Oh and my local boozer is independently owned and run, and buys it's beer from independent breweries, which is nice.
  17. I'm guilty of going for the easy option, and getting groceries from the supermarket. In my defence, I hate shopping with a passion. If I can buy it on line I will, with one exception I'll come to in a moment. If I'm unfortunate enough to find myself in the town, I do like to use a local butchers, called Taylor's. Their meat is always of fantastic quality, and their pies are out of this world. When it comes to record shopping, I'm a strictly independent man, these days. I tend to mostly shop at Sound It Out, in Stockton (you may have seen the documentary about it), but if I'm in Leeds or Newcastle, I'll use Jumbo and RPM. If there's something I desperately want, I'll get it ordered in to my local shop. Other than that, I love to have a sift through charity shops, markets, car boots etc, looking for gems. I will buy on-line, but I'll only do so if that's the only way to get hold of a particular record. I'll always try to use an independent seller, or buy direct from the label or artist. I used to use Amazon, but I try and avoid them if possible, these days.
  18. I was at university with Russell Tovey (Actor from Him & Her, Gavin & Stacey, The History Boys, Being Human etc). I went to school with Darius Vassell. I have interviewed World Cup Winner, Jack Charlton, while working at a radio station.
  19. A friend of mine is a Theatre Technician, and I can confirm you are correct about Bobby Ball, and The Grumbleweeds. I've met a fair few z list Celebes through his work, and most are just normal people. Paul Daniels was a surprisingly decent chap, as I'd heard he was a t*sser. The Chuckle Brothers are an odd pair. The smaller one especially. Also I'm not sure if he counts as a celebrity, but Chico (of X Factor fame), is a bloody lovely fellow, if a little dim.
