  1. Yeah, I totally agree with this.
  2. About better players than Kallis in general or better all rounders? Both really, so I suppose it opens up the question as to who is the greatest cricketer of all time? I'd said earlier Kallis is the best all rounder I've seen in my life time. It'd be a three way tie between Lara, Tendulkar and Warne as the best cricketer, from the time I've been watching cricket, I think. That said, I'd still probably give Sir Viv the title of the greatest.
  3. Pure class. A fitting way to bow out on a truly great career. Also nice that his knock took him above R Dravid (another top player) in the list of all time test runs scored. Factor in all the wickets and 200 catches in the field, he must be up there with the greatest cricketers to have ever played the game? He'd have to be considered, certainly. One of the best I've seen. However, there a quite few player I'd rate higher. Paul C made a good argument for Sobers as the greatest all rounder. Add to that, Lara, Tendulkar, Viv Richards, Shane Warne, Bradman, Imran Khan etc. Interesting to hear what others think though?

  5. Got this for Christmas, and just got round to listening to it today. Latest album form Bill Callahan of Smog fame. Very nice bit of chilled out Alt Country. He's got a voice as rich as fruit cake this lad. Opening track:
  6. MOTM the crowd in the second half, when they tried to rally the players. They responded by getting stuck in a bit more, but the lack of quality was obvious to see. It's easy to blame Lambert's tactics (or lack of), and I do, but the players just aren't up to it. What a mess this club is in.
  7. I've run out of ways to convey my utter dismay. It's like watching the Villa.
  8. Liking this. Very old school heavy rock sounding.
  9. Nice bit of Fuzzy German Doom http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9rc8ClU0zbI
  10. Yep Kapil Dev and Botham were bowling allrounders. Sobers and Kallis batting allrounders. I wouldn't rate him as high as Sobers. Sobers was an amazing talent. Sobers averaged 57.78 with the bat at a time they played on uncovered wickets. He played a much more attacking entertaining style as well. Kallis is an accumalator of runs and not rated as good as Sachin or Lara whearas in many peoples eyes Sobers is the greatest windies batsman of all time. Probably the greatest left handed batsman ever. Probably 2nd only to Bradman as the greatest batsman of alltime Sobers bowled left arm seam and spin and his bowling record compares favourably to Kallis. Their stats are close but talent wise miles apart. I'm not old enough to have seen Sobers play, but I fully respect that he's considered the greatest, and I'd not argue against that. Especially having been to Barbados, and heard in great length how good he was from the locals. As such, I'll happily edit my statement to read, Kallis is the best all rounder I've ever seen.
  11. Works canteens are just shocking. I sometimes work at BBC Studios in Elstree and believe me when I say you haven't eaten shit food until you've eaten there. It's always refried stodge with a side of hot-plate-warmed stodged and all slapped onto a tray by a furious Romanian. The glamour of TV for you. Yeah, our canteen is bad at the best of times, but with a skeleton staff in, it was diabolical today. I knew I should have took a packed lunch, but couldn't be bothered to make something last night. The weather outside is horrible, so I couldn't be arsed going out to the local super market either.
  12. In work today. Sausage, chips and beans out of the works canteen. Just what my waist line needs, more stodge!
  13. At last England show a bit of fight. Too little, too late, but a bit of fire in the belly! I do wonder if the Aussies would have played some of the shots they did, if they'd not already wrapped the series mind!
  14. When people talk of the great all rounders, Kapil Dev, Sobers, Botham, etc spring to mind. I think you can put Kallis at the top of the list now. A remarkable career.
  15. No more Maltesers Celebrations left. Christmas is over.
  16. He's got to go, hasn't he? Diabolical display. As soon as Gayle picked the ball up on the flank, I knew what was about to happen. Fair play Palace, the better side and deserved the win.
  17. Amongst other things, some socks (obviously), a nice new hat, a Star Wars alarm clock, a card board cut out of Yoda, some new tunes, and a signed photo of England Cricket Captain, Alistair Cook (which I would have liked a lot more, before the current Ashes series!).
  18. Full of cold just in time for Christmas, thanks yesterday's rain. Oh joy! Ah well, a bit of turkey and a some new socks from Santa, and I'll be right. Merry Christmas one and all. Take it easy, kick back and enjoy the day.
  19. Just had me a big steak with all the trimmings. Not eaten all day, so it didn't stand a chance!
  20. Just had a Bakewell slice, and gonna have some mixed fruit in a bit.
  21. I think it was released by Studio One, so the chances are they may have been. I'd be guessing though.
