  1. Working out in the states in 2005, I served Michael Stone (Oliver Stone's kid) nutritious food on a daily basis. He came to the summer camp that I was working on for the summer. You wouldn't have thought he was the son of anyone famous, great guy. I apologise in advance for the next one as it's my previous life as a nerd coming to the fore and I'm sure I've posted it before. It may come across as a bit long: Soon after the Playstation launched, I entered the "Psygnosis HMV Challenge". Didn't think much of it, but gave it a blast in Brum (playing Wipeout, Destruction Derby, etc). It finished about 11am (well my slot did anyway) and the lovely Joanne Galvin and Michelle Harris (Producers for as-then Psygnosis - if you're keen you can see their names appear when you complete Destruction Derby ) told me to come back about 4pm. Didn't think much of it as I knew I did well but the day was long. So I trundled back about 4pm and got told that I had won (). What they then did to me was even more less expected. They handed over a Playstation and the released Psygnosis games (Lemmings 3d, Destruction Derby, Discworld and Wipeout) with the promise that I would get Krazy Ivan and Assault Rigs when they were released. I was also told I would go to the final in London ("you mean you gave me a Playstation and games and it wasn't even the final?!"). So, I went to London for the "grand" final. Met Dominic Diamond who continually took the peas out of my accent and was generally a word removed (I did actually type "word removed"). BUT! I was king and the world was good again. It turned out that the other heats didn't get the Playstation (that's what happens when you have the product managers run your heat ) and they had to think up another prize for me. Instead, I got a Sony 16" TV (it was widescreen, I'll have you know) and a cheap Sony stereo. I even got Psygnosis branded Christmas cards for a few years after :notworthy:.
  2. Gremlins. Firstly, because it's on now. Secondly, because I'm half drunk. Thirdly (and most importantly), because it has Phoebe Cates in.
  3. I'm not so sure. Dropping him now would drop his confidence even further and that can't be good. He needs a goal and quickly (anything will do). Once he has scored one I think he will settle down and start playing like the Rooney we know he can be. Bringing Gerrard up behind him would be a start and that will hopefully allow him more time and space on the ball.
  4. I have a feeling that we'll see some big changes on Wednesday (according to SSN, Capello has already confirmed). Joe Cole to start, Lumpard dropped (well probably not) and Gerrard sat behind Rooney and Defoe.
  5. One thing that irks me a bit - he keeps saying "I'm here on behalf of the team". Isn't that what the captain should be doing? Methinks Terry should be captain. Apparently, the players have a meeting with the manager this evening for a frank exchange of views and when asked if their views offended Capello he responded "so what?". Boredom is an issue and if the press are to be believed, the players have been ordered to rest in their rooms for 5 hours a day.
  6. Will be interesting to see what Terry says in the news conference (about to be shown live on SSN). Lots of reports of disharmony in the camp.

Lucid dreams are what you want. Being able to control your dream. Imagine the possibilities!
  8. So, Slovenia need to avoid a loss and we need to win. They're going to park the bus in front of goal and we have to hope that we get a bit of luck. It's going to be a very, very tense game.
  9. Aye, if it ends up with us 2-2 and US game at 0-0 then it goes to lots. Basically, if we draw we need to score 3 more than the US do against Algeria and hope USA doesn't win. Yep, if we win and USA draw then both us and Slovenia go through. Algeria can still go through if they beat USA but they need to score 4 more than Slovenia or something like that 8) (I think)
  10. I think having to jump off a very tall building would be good. Falling that, firing squad. A few shots in the head, sorted.
  11. Apparently, he was 45 meaning he had to retire from FIFA matches. The Italian FA raised their limit to 46 to allow him to referee in Italy for another year but he resigned. Aye, I remember the talk of him coming over here too.
  12. I would have loved to have seen Collina ref in the Prem. Arguably, the greatest referee there has ever been and a travesty that he was forced to retire by FIFA at 45.
  13. I still say we'll top the group. We'll win against Slovenia and Algeria and it wouldn't surprise me to see a bit of a backlash on Friday against Algeria with Rooney finally entering the competition.
  14. Complete with a Springsteen "born in the USA" horn!
  15. All the best for the following week, General. I wish to pass on my thanks to all those involved in the "team" this season (to include everyone connected with the club). We've done remarkably well and it bodes well for the future. Happy end of the season to you.
  16. I think had Barry stayed, we would have stagnated. I hated it at the time, but given how well we've done this season, I'm pretty certain it has been good for us. A huge part in my reasoning has been the form of mighty James Milner who has flourished being in the centre (which he himself has recognised as where he thrives).
  17. I'm looking forward to tonight's episode, purely on the basis that it's apparently the best so far. I have been disappointed, but think it can redeem itself as a top notch war drama. No way that it will ever live up to Band of Brothers but then nothing really could.
  18. I'm having a very drunk drown my sorrows alone type of weekend. Yesterday was the Morgan's spiced and tonight I'm on some naff cheap wine - I got 2 bottles for a fiver during the week (probably taste like vinegar but hey ho). Roll on work on Tuesday so I can feel normal again.
  19. As it stands, we're going to finish the day in 6th. Anything can happen in 45 minutes though. If we don't come out looking more purposeful, I will be shocked. Come on lads, we can clobber them!
  20. Absolutely, an early goal is vital! Get 'em going Martin!
