  1. I think it's more likely he sees Keinan as a useful squad player who can score and provides something a bit different up front. Given Dean Smith has said he wants to have two players for each position, and we may well use two upfront in some games, I am assuming he'll want 4 strikers - to that's Wesley, JK, Keinan plus the new signing assuming Hogan goes on loan.
  2. Nope. And I think that this is the way that Dean Smith wants the team to play, so I expect to see it continue. I also think that Mings has the ability to be successful in the Premier League.
  3. The European window stays open until September - so we might be able to move Thor, Kalinic etc on after our window closes.
  4. Anyone know about this summer's minor redevelopment work? I know they've replaced signs at the ground. Anything inside the ground? I have read new LED video screens and an upgraded PA system. Also I think there was mention of re-opening disused hospitality areas in the Witton Lane and Trinity? I also think they were upgrading the LED ad-boards and flood lights to meet Premier League requirements?
  5. I don't think that's the case. Exceptions are considered on the basis of transfer cost (against the club's transfer record); wages (again against the club's wage structure) and the level of first team football they've played at. I am a bit perplexed why this is taking so long, as I would be surprised that the club announced the signing without the work permit being in the bag.

  7. Apparently there's lots of work going on at Villa Park, and it looks like some of the ideas from this thread have been taken on (for example I've seen pictures on Twitter of the Holte having claret cladding put on the metal roof supports). Anyone got any details of the other major improvements and pics? I'm a bit of a nerd for this sort of stuff.....
  8. Must be true then or as Ian would say teh edn of taht rmouru Very good!
  9. General, I think I am right in saying that contracts with two "platinum partners" have expired this season - 188bet and Thomas Cook. I'm assuming there's a lot of interest from other companies to become platinum partners - are any announcements due? Thanks
  10. I also have a totally different question.... Will we be announcing any further partnerships during the summer? I have seen that Thomas Cook are no longer our sponsor - is it likely that another partner will come in and replace them, and do you think that we will see more than one new partner join our stable of "platinum partners"? Thanks
  11. How many titles has Avram won? And what about in international football, how has he done there? AM's record is not too bad.
  12. General, I trust the board and I trust your decision making. I don't believe that you have gone into considering AM with your eyes closed - you are all successful people, and would be aware of the reaction. I suspect that you have looked at the candidates, and the requirements Villa have for a manager, and considered AM to be the best candidate. It is not someone I would have chosen, but I support the decision and the club. The only thing I would say is that I hope we sign a few players and get a good start! Impressive risk taking.
  13. Big John, the only fact in what you've said here is that Martinez turned down the chance to talk to us about the job. The rest is speculation and you've chosen to frame it in a way that fits your view.
  14. I think it is more than a rumour! BCFC say we have contacted them about him! Nope. What has happened so far is that BCFC contacted us asking us what our position on McLeish was now he had resigned. We e-mailed back saying that as he was a free agent we could speak to him if we wished to. That's it.
  15. I remember when we poached Graham Turner from Shrewsbury - arsenal chose George Graham from Millwall Arsenal chose an unknown wenger - we chose an unknown Venglos. Its high risk. Im just hoping he turns out to be a John Gregory type. I agree that it is a risk, but it is not an utterly outragous decision.
  16. There's a possibility anyone could go down next season.
  17. 1. No one had heard of Wenger before he joined Arsenal, and Fergie had only managed in Scotland before taking over at Utd.... Just because a manager isn't proven at the top it doesn't mean they are no good. RM should be given the opportunity to prove himself at a bigger club with a bigger budget. 2. Pat Murphy doesn't know what's going on inside VP, is close to MoN and has been bashing us since MoN left. I heard him on Radio 5 this morning and he was spewing cr@p.
  18. I am sure that Smetrov was certain that we'd stick with GH despite his heart problems too, as that would show Lerner's lack of ambition. I personally don't think it is possible to question his committment to the club based on the evidence!
  19. Wiki says that Hughes signed a 2 year contract with Fulham last summer..... :|
  20. I would be happy with Hughes. He was good at Blackburn, didn't get enough time at City, and has been good at Fulham. He or Moyes would do me.
