  1. Feels more and more like a waiting game unfortunately. I'm just glad that we've got people running things now who also realise this. We'll get who we need eventually I have no doubt.
  2. I reckon this is spot on. We're Aston Villa a Premier League club, but we can't (yet) afford to poach other Premier League club's top talent and (thank McGrath) gone are the days of signing aged players with ”Premier League experience“ looking for a final payday. If there were any young Premier League players with enough quality or potential to play for us, then their club isn't going to want to let them go I wouldn't have thought unless on loan, so who does that leave us with as a potential source of new signings?

Not sure how, but I ended up having us finishing in 15th when going through the BBC's predictor thingy. I pretty much just put us down for a loss against any team in the top 6 or 7, a draw if playing away against anybody else and a win at home against anybody say 8th and below. QPR, Wigan and Southampton to go down.

  5. So why did he make the substitutions then? Just for the fun of it?
  6. Well yes and no. The problem with O'Neill's "squad" players were that they were rarely used and were over-priced, over-paid and under-performing shites. That's what got us into the shit. Every team needs a squad. yes, every team needs a squad, but you build a squad by buying first team players to relegate your existing first team players to the bench, not by buying players who aren't good enough for the first team to begin with Well that depends entirely what type of squad you're building and what restraints you have to build it. Yeah, sure, if money is no object I'd keep "Stevie" hanging around but money is an issue and if we can replace him with 3 or 4 inferior players (in terms of skill) for the same wages then I'd jump at it.
  7. Jealousy is an awful thing to have didn't you learn to leave all that bad feeling at home ? Anyway were talking about Villa/BCFC who is talking about BCFC except you Thing is it's like Barca and Real Madrid us as fans always argue who is the biggest and i guess its the same with Villa and BCFC who is the biggest ? Because right now i,d say BCFC and Villa are about equal.
  8. Well yes and no. The problem with O'Neill's "squad" players were that they were rarely used and were over-priced, over-paid and under-performing shites. That's what got us into the shit. Every team needs a squad. Bingo.
  9. Maybe the manager isn't as stupid as some think and another reason he is being singled out for praise is to increase his potential value. I too would be happy to sell Ireland for anything over $6m, his purported $80k a week wages could go on 3 to 4 squad players.
  10. Well if it's a choice of playing out wide to Albrighton or playing it through the middle to Ireland, I know which one I'd prefer.
  11. Get rid and replace with Odemwinge please.
  12. I voted no, looking quite overwhelming at the moment. I do not trust McLeish to spend what little money will be available in the summer.
  13. Hutton---Cuellar---Baker---Lichaj
  14. Before I get slated, I know one decent performance out of countless terrible performances does not a good player make - BUT thought Hutton stood up really well against Wolves and performed admirably, his crosses were A LOT better and seemed reasonably solid at the back against a very good player in Jarvis. Warnock also played really well when he was brought on in the 2nd half and The 2 CB's were ok. Think McLeish may have given the defence a bit of a bollocking after last week (do I recall McLeish saying something like "maybe I should shout at them every week?) and it's a good sign to see them responding.
  15. Agreed, and summed up quite well. I've actually been waiting for this signing to happen for a while and glad it's almost done. Hargreaves next please.
  16. Spot on. There's only 1 man who's going to get us Champs League in the next 4 years and that's Moyes. He needs a club that he can take to the next level, I think he knows he's never going to be able to do that at Everton.
  17. Owen Coyle please. He doesn't seem to mind jumping ship from 1 club to another so we may be able to turn his head with the right offer and he may see Villa as a far better club to boost his profile and reputation with than Bolton.
  18. Does anybody know with any certainty the list of candidates that were interviewed to replace MON?
  19. Didn't bother to read beyond this unnecessary and pointlessly aggressive opening, I'm afraid. You can easily spot a prejudiced rant coming. You should have, it was a well written post which I agree with. Seconded
  20. He really is making a right **** pigs ear of this season. Has to go sorry.
  21. Was very lively, just never got the service from Petrov and was closed off easily. My pet cat is also very lively. She's **** shit at football though.
