We certainly should've hired him after Houllier. Still mind-boggling how he was overlooked that summer. exactly!! people can go Lambert has had no money!! but place £2.8mil Joe Bennett with a vastly better player in Erik Peters at 2mil!! also spending £2.5mil on Tonev when Marko Arnautovic cost £2mil.. I would take both those Stoke players over the two Villa Purchased.. Also getting Barca prospect Mark Muniesa on a free was a masterstroke. Hughes does a lot better with teams with little money to the teams where he has bigger money, he would have worked well here!

Maybe mate, but he was interested in both the Palace & Sunderland jobs before Poyet & Pulis took over those clubs this season, read somewhere that Lambert is on around 40k a week!! I went yesterday and at the end of the game only 4 players bothered to come over and applaud the Villa Fans who was singing all game. Was around 3500 of us!! Before he joined QPR I said I would have liked him here and I was shocked when he joined them. Obviously we can't be sure as to how much he is on, but I can't imagine Sevilla are paying much at all to take him on loan as they simply can't afford it. I can't say anything about figures because, frankly, I don't know, but the model is similar to that at Manchester City, where significant investment is being made to create a brand of status rather than as some sort of 'rich man's toy'. I know the identity of the buyer but do not want to divulge just yet who they are, but I will say that should the deal complete - the rumours that it is complete are not quite right, I would say 80% done - then it is hard to overstate how much the financial situation will change. I say this because I am aware of the buyer, as I said, I don't know precise figures, just the general intentions and names involved. I will post again when I feel the time is right.
