  1. It is a shame, maybe he spends more time in training working on other aspects at the moment. But most world class players (which Jack will become) score freekicks and it would be great to see it bump up his goal tally.
  2. Not Hoddle, imo. I think Barry was more like Hoddle. I was just thinking the other day that Waddle, Beardsley and Barnes are players more like Jack. The big difference between these great players and Jack, is that Jack can't score freekicks. Someone needs to have a word in his ear about that and get him practicing.
  3. I hope he doesn't turn out to be another Charles Insomnia
  4. Championship relegation level from the 2nd string players
  5. Just to add to that, Mings and McGinn were in the team when we couldnt get a win whilst Jack was out. With those 3 gone, yes there could be 100m+ to spend, but that doesn't guaruntee anything
  6. I'm not his biggest fan, but I think he's done a great job filling in for Wesley
  7. And why are there always 2 villa players on a freekick when its going to be delivered into the box? The one who doesn't take the freekick could be in a far better position instead of being useless.
  8. Funny the way he was trying to play Deeny offside when he could clearly see Targett was playing him onside. Really poor needless challange to concede the penalty. Not very bright
  9. Back down again. The club could make a fortune in the long run winning the playoff final every 2 years
  10. He's the best corner taker and best freekick taker which is also very important imo. Set pieces have been terrible on the whole without him. With Jack working the middle more, there'll be more opportunites for Conner to get scoring opportunities around the D area. Jack should look to draw fouls in those areas more when Conner is playing.
  11. Him and El Ghazi reminds me of the days when we had Kachloul and Hadji, and i'm not sure which pair is worse
  12. Lots of "hard work" and "effort" that amounts to sweet f.a.
  13. He's the only midfielder other than McGinn who has a natural understanding with Jack. He worked very well with Jack in the build up to the goal. His tendancy to go missing lets him down. But he has the ability to score from freekicks and open play. I'd be surprised if he doesn't start with Jack in CM against Watford.
  14. Really poor again. He nearly cost us another goal today, gaving the ball away on the 6 yard line to a Norwich player who shot and it was either Konsa or Hause who made a goal line block/clearance
  15. Some poor performances yet again from the usual players. Nakamba being the worst, Wes a close second. Konsa, Grealish, Heaton very good. Great goal from Conner. Poor Koj, sitting on the bench knowing he can play better than Wes.
  16. Not doing ok, doing better without Smith
  17. I was thinking wages would have been an influence. But some clearly had no interest, and I would expect the same again. You're essentially implying that the strategy is more important than keeping our best players. To have the quality of someone like Jack is a once in a generation odds Here's my list of who I would expect to leave: Douglas Luiz Tom Heaton Björn Engels Tyrone Mings John McGinn Jack Grealish Marvelous Nakamba Anwar El Ghazi As you say, there would be considerable funds to rebuild. But is risking relegation and having to rebuild again worth it for essentially the same stategy as before? Not for me. Staying up means the chance of keeping our best players.
  18. It's the same model as 2015-16. Those recruits back then wanted out when Villa were relegated. What makes you so sure that the current recruits will want to stay if Villa are relagated this season? There'll be a lot of clubs after them. Then there are senior players like Jack, McGinn, Heaton, who'll want to be playing at the highest level they can, they won't have any interest in playing in the Championship.
  19. With the Watford result the battle is well and truly on. Does Dean have what it takes to shake things up and start getting some good results in the next few games? If he starts against Norwich with the same tactics and formation then I doubt it. The board better prepare for relegation and resulting exodus of players
  20. I agree he wasn't one of the underperformers on the pitch, but this IS the perfect opportunity for someone like him to come in to show some bottle and gumption, particularly when others aren't. A player should come in and fight for his place and show himself to be a winner. This is the basics of having competition in a squad for places. It should be absolutely natural for a central defender to be verbal and complusive about organisation.
  21. I was watching Hause, and his body language suggested he wanted nothing to do with taking responsibility. Absolutely 0 leadership there at the moment
  22. Dean Smith doesn't need sacking, he just needs to change his failing formation and tactics. If the board has anything about them, they'll have words with him about it.
  23. The spending strategy is starting to resonate the 2015-16 strategy. Too many inexperienced young "potentials" not able to get it together on the pitch. If Villa go down they wont be interested in staying, which would mean more spending and another rebuilding exercise.
