  1. And McLeish wasn't? If Houllier damaged club and fan morale McLeish obliterated it. He's the definition of soul-destroying. He's the grim reaper of football. Not only the worst Villa manager in my life-time but one of the worst managers of any club. From a fan's perspective, I can see that McLeish would be seen in such a bad light. I had the "pleasure" of knowing some of the inner workings of the squad during Houllier's regime. That's why I called him a cancer. Everything he touched within the club went to shit. There were absolutely NO redeeming features about his time as manager, in my opinion. For what it's worth, McLeish never lost the dressing room to the same extent as Houllier did and I'm convinced that if McAllister hadn't taken over when he did, we were nailed on for relegation.
  2. I agree with all of the above. As I posted during the Houllier regime, he was seen as a Walter Mitty figure, living on past glories and sticking his head in the sand when people tried to tell him things he didn't want to hear. As bad as the McLeish year was, the Houllier year was abysmal. Houllier was a cancer. And this from a man who was incredibly excited when he was appointed. How wrong I was..
  3. Isn't this cycling thing the equivalent of a footballer feeling contact and going to ground in the box? He felt there was a problem with his start and, rather than try desperately to correct it and subsequently have a bad time, he allowed the mishap to continue and fell of his bike. He didn't deliberately cause the "mishap" but he didn't try very hard to correct it...
  4. Heebie Jeebies? A late "bravo" for the Funky Gibbon BOF.. I was about to hit the "quote" button then saw your post. Ya bollix.
  5. Apparently, Tonia Couch is competing today... I hope she wins
  6. However, anything Romney says that makes Israel look "good" will go down very well in Florida where there is a large elderly Jewish population. Florida will be absolutely key in the electoral college so, while the outside world giggles at Mitt, the Romney campaign will know the damage to his electability is minimal. Unfortunately.
  7. Ba came out very prominently this week to say he's happy at Newcastle and any talk about him wanting to leave is just plain wrong. A lot of NUFC stakeholders don't want Carroll back.
  8. I have no doubt that collins was one to move on, but i think its clear him leaving now is allowing the Vlaar deal to proceed. Its one hell of a coincidence in timing if not. Also the fact we've just got back from a tour across the Atlantic. Also been told there's a striker deal being worked on, and this is very exciting to the guy who told me.
  9. Collins was leaving regardless of Vlaar
  10. I'm pretty sure I coined the 'Welcome xxxx' announcements on VT so let me add to my collection with... Goodbye James Collins. He'll be having talks with a premier league club this weekend. I've been asked not to say who with, but you don't need to be a rocket scientist to work it out.
  11. Hi. Yes, I know I should have said "hello" but this was funnier.
  12. On 39 seconds I was thinking "thats a bit gay" and then he did that handstand.. That's some impressive strength and balance.
  13. This story about the Irish Olympic gymnast who was told he would never walk again...
  14. So it only took one page for irreverentad to drop the pretence of it being a "friend"? Jesus man, at least make it a little bit difficult for us
  15. Tell him to man the f**k up.. As long as he puts some thought into the location, he'll be fine.
  16. Hmmm, they both have their individual redeeming features. I think Miss Franco wins because of her undoubted skill in handling massive poles. Fnar fnar
