  1. Well, if you look at Lambert's record, it is a fact. What is a fact? That he had a poor record? Yes, that's a fact. In a context free world where everything else was equal, that would also make him one of our worst ever managers. A context free world doesn't exist, however. I'm not getting into another tedious debate about Lambert here, but stating he was one of the worst managers we've had is an opinion only, certainly not a fact. No need to debate. It is a fact that his record makes him one of our worst managers ever. You already admit that. It's a fact that you either haven't read what I've written or you are incapable of understanding it. Either way, I won't be going over it again. I understand that.
  2. I think he has been here longer than the other high goal scorers and made more appearances, and that makes a big difference to the numbers. Having said that, he was very good for us for a number of seasons, though always hit and miss. But last couple of seasons he looks to me like his best years are behind him. Whether Sherwood can re- galvanise him remains to be seen.

  4. Was it not you who brought his name into this thread?
  5. It looks to me like the club are blurring the lines on job description in order to build the type of management team that fits their forward plan. Nothing wrong with that.

  7. I think Sanchez is very positive, tries to make things happen. Sherwood might well like his attitude.
  8. When did we rip teams apart?Did i miss that period of Lambert's time here? Haha you taking the piss or what at this stage? You honestly think we never ripped teams apart under Lambert or are you just looking for an argument again? Think you might need to be specific as I also can only recall the Sunderland game as having 'ripped' someone apart. Norwich a couple of times, Hull last year, wba last year, Sunderland. We have had plenty of great play on other occasions which we didn't capitalise on. Obviously it's hard to remember any of the good times after a season such as this one. Apart from Sunderland, a couple of 3-1's and a couple of 4-1's. At a stretch you might call that ripping teams apart. And that does not prove that Westwood was a major factor, anyway. I certainly can never remember him controlling or being a major factor in a game, and that is his problem.

You honestly think we never ripped teams apart under Lambert or are you just looking for an argument again? The only team I remember us ripping apart was Sunderland, and the player I remember from that game was Lowton.
  10. I have never seen anything remotely like that.
  11. Excellent post, OBE, he came in with the best of intentions, but his ineptitude has put us in a perilous state. I do have some sympathy for him, and hope that Fox & co. can turn it round for his sake and ours.
  12. Is this a recent quote? He said something similar when he signed his contract. Just found the full article, it is from today: http://www.london24.com/sport/football/clubs/tottenham/tottenham_and_liverpool_summer_target_admits_risk_in_contract_situation_1_3956889 Very surprised that at the time that he signed the new contract, he had no thought that relegation was going to happen. That makes no sense to me. Could it be that no one else came in for him, or that if anyone did, they would not offer him what we did.
  13. As the official site seems to be unaware that there was an FA Cup draw tonight, can someone tell me the date for it?
  14. Would love to see him break Gardner's legs. That's a bit OTT, DK, a trademark heavy but legal tackle will suffice for me !
  15. I think he is a real media darling. He will definitely up our profile, already has, but in a positive way for a change.
  16. so would i doug. Absolutely not ! No way ! No how !
  17. Don't know how many times this needs to be pointed out, but football can never be compared with what happens in the workplace. The use of analogies means nothing. I like Weimann's application, he makes good runs, gets into good positions, gets goals, is a much better player in the middle. See, you do not need analogies. And this hard working lad, who is unfortunately not good enough in your eyes, whom you will `cull', is a person. Some day someone may `cull' you, you might not be so flippant and unfeeling about it.
  18. I would not be surprised to see him go out on loan until the end of the season. Then probably see more of him and possibly Robinson next season. Sherwood might well concentrate on the more experienced players for the rest of the season to be sure of keeping us up, and I could not blame him for that.
  19. Or we could just keep him as a very good centre back, the best one we have.
  20. I think it was much more to do with our scouting set up and people like Paddy Riley than Lambert. So i'm not concerned one bit that our transfers will move away from trying to bring in the likes of benteke, sanchez and gill. I really hope you're right - certainly when transfers didn't work out Lambert was blamed so I'm guessing it's not as black and white as you suppose What if he's wrong, what if it was ALL down to Lambert (even though I think we both know the truth is somewhere in between). Does this automatically mean that Sherwood will be poor in this area? For somebody who remained positive in the darkest of times, I'm confused by your negativity now. I could never quite believe that any manager is responsible for scouting players, but would certainly have the final say. In that regard they of course have responsibility for good or bad outcomes, but initial recommendations it would make sense to come from the scouting network, which I understand is headed up by Reilly, and that presumably will not change, no matter who the manager is.
