Failed miserably is extremely harsh. He introduced nearly a new starting 11 and got 12 games before being sacked. That isnt enough time for that many new players to gel as the Brice supporters will tell you (apparently 36 games isnt enough for Bruce to gel a team.) Under RDM although results were poor we had the highest shots per game and highest shots on target per game in the division. That out front line had not yet hit form is unfortunate but we were creating a huge number of chances but were not taking them. Bruce undid all that to make us better defensively (though his record of goals conceded per game is almost identical to RDMs - so that he improved our defense is a myth). What Bruce has done is make us mentally tougher, but i'd argue that this may have happened under RDM had he been given as much of the benefit of the doubt Bruce has gotten and would have meant a better ( and by that i mean more attacking) brand of football. Not saying we'd have finished any higher, but i honestly dont believe wed have been worse off.

But with gealish out long term and adomah out medium term that leaves only elmo and grren as recognised wide midfielders. Green also has a horrible record with injuries so id expect at least 1 if not 2 to be brought in assuming dead wood is shifted

Hourihane and Lansbury have shown little to nothing in half a season that they are a creative force in our style of play. I remain unconvinced. Grealish, Adomah and Kodjia are injured and may not return for some time still. Green has a terrible injury record and still hasnt shown he is capable of being a creative force. And sorry but Bjarneson is a clogger. Comparing him to gobby cabbage was pretty apt - all huff and no end product. Adequate squad player but not a creator. Delighted to have elmo, real wodth and can cross. Could do with 2/3 more of him. Obviously we need bodies out forst, but i dont see where the confidence in these players has come from that makes people think they are sudden going to start doing it when they havent in 15-20 games so far.

Dont agree with mjvilla above about our squad being in a good position. We are woefully short of creative/attacking players. If we dont bring in 1 or 2 creative players, even on loan, we are never going to score enough goals.

Nobody said anythink about keeping it afloat. But i can guarentee you we have made significant losses since leaving the prem and as FFP monitors losses it is not inconceivable that sales would be being made to ensure we dont get sanctioned.

Think about lost income. We dont have the same competition money, tv money, etc coming in. We are getting less of a relegation bonus. Shirt sales and merchandising is down. We are selling less tickets and have less sponsorship money coming in. It all adds up to significant loss and we have to compensate for this.

I recently rewatched bruces first game in charge and our last game of the season. If anything we have gotten worse as a team not better. I fear for the future of this club...

Which performances have concerned you? The games at lb, dm, cm, am or lw? My point being that its hard to put in a good performance when week to week you dont know what position youll be playing in. I seem to remember him playing in 3 position in one game last season.

Both Adomah and Green have injury problems and between them wont play all the league games. What would plan b be?

I think this comparison is very unfair to Golini. Very difficult to control a defence when you dont speak the language. I'd put money on Golini getting more international caps than johnson in his career. I believe Golini is the better keeper.

It would be a stretch to say it was 'just' for the kit but i did want to go to the club shop to try some kit on to see what sizes were like. Its very hard to get villa merch in ireland other than online especially since relegation. In the temp shop they only had large and xl both of which are too small. Just very disappointing for my first visit to the stadium in nearly a decade...

I came from dublin to the ground today hoping for a look and to preorder. Much to my dismay, and the dismay of quite a number of fellow villains, the club shop is closed until 29/07/2017. However, hope remained as a temporary shop had been errected in the car park. When we spoke to the vendor he said they had no new kit and offered to show it to me on his phone. Oh well i thought i will just order one. Oh no said the vendor, you can only order it on the website. Worst kit launch ever!!!

There is a difference between on pitch captain and club captain so he could be the on the pitch captain without being team/club captain.
