  1. 3 games against top 6 sides in the space of 1 week - including 2 away trips - and we were unlucky not to get more than 3 points. The positive? We will get a lot better over the course of the season!
  2. I've noticed that from most of our play so far this season. We seem to want to get it forward very quickly. It's beautiful when it comes together (Gabby's strike that just swept past the right corner against Chelsea springs to mind) but we don't always make our passes stick. That style does remind me very much of how a certain Bundesliga side that Lambert has a history with tends to play their football.......
  3. Didn't you know? The top 4 teams don't get outplayed and they don't deploy roughhouse tactics. Only everybody else does. Just ask Ivanovic.
  4. You could see him tiring towards the end. Other than that - a real terrier. Like Delph, he has the ability to win possession and work in tight spaces. Unlike Delph, he usually retains possession
  5. Aye. This part in particular is worrying: That smacks of "I have nothing to prove and should be chosen by default". If that is true, then that may be why you were on the bomb squad, Darren.
  6. We have an extremely good record against Mourinho managed Chelsea sides. If I remember correctly, they never beat us on their own turf and we came out about equal on theirs. I expect that trend to continue - especially if we press like we did against Arsenal. It will be fairly close, even if I expect Chelsea to get the 3 points by the odd goal.
  7. It is, he's the one who went in late. Don't want to be harsh, like AOC, but Luna did something wrong Indeed - Luna pulled out. Had he followed through and smashed the ball - which he would have if he didn't see AOC coming - then he would not have picked up a yellow. He was clearly there first.
  8. More positionally solid than Vlaar. Didn't dwell on the ball waiting to make a decision either - as has been the case in the past. Some very simple and effective stuff, deserves his place against Chelsea on that performance.
  9. A few loose balls from Westwood. A few turnovers from Delph. But KEA? Does he ever miss a pass? His ability to regain and then retain possession is a big asset. Only shaded by Guzan and Agonlahor against Arsenal - long may his form continue!
  10. The most encouraging thing about that display? We won 3-1 and there is a lot of improvement in us still. When more of our passes start sticking and we don't get in each others way - look out!
  11. Most of the clubs in the top half are going through some form of upheaval - major or otherwise - at the moment: - ManUre with Moyes and Rooney - Man City with Pelligrini - Chelsea with Mourinho and aging "stars" - Spurs with Bale - Liverpool/Arsenal with Suarez - Everton with Martinez I'd argue that we had the majority of our upheaval last season and can expect a much improved performance this season. I think we will finish in the top half, maybe snatch a place in Europe if some of the above mentioned clubs fall in a heap.
  12. Like Khawaja in the first innings - KP did NOT touch that.
  13. would you take a pay-cut in your job? If I was loaded and didn't have to worry about money for the rest of my life and had the opportunity to prove to myself and others that I am an actual professional footballer worthy of playing week in week out on as big a stage as possible for my abilty then yes, absolutely I'd take a pay cut. This same sentiment is aimed at the rest of the so called bomb squad too And that is the key for the bomb squad, really. This isn't about them losing money.... ... it's about them believing they have nothing to prove.
  14. Was soooo hoping he'd catch Vettel in the last 10 laps. I reckon he would have done him over and put them both into the wall.
  15. You're making an assumption that they don't read it or that the things said won't have any effect on them if they did. I'm not convinced those assumptions are true.
  16. You'll need to stop speaking sense - it's lost on the majority. After all, we had a "Transfer Rumours" thread in which the discussion for around 10 pages a while back was purely about a former poster, not any possible transfer targets. Back to Bannan - the mooted move away (if true) would be good for him. With the additions of Tonev, Helenius, Bacuna, Sylla and Gardner to our midfield it appears Bannan has slipped down the pecking order and he would find it difficult to get a run of regular football.
  17. ... a person who likes fish and can afford a £100k fish tank, perhaps?
  18. We had a similar idea not that long ago down here in Australia. It ended up dying a slow death as the idea of a government provided "clean feed" of the internet is technically impossible and fraught with consequences over privacy and freedom that were greater than the problem they were trying to solve. As mentioned by someone earlier in this thread: This is a parenting issue, not a government one.
  19. Gratz. Shame about all the controversy - though after the whinging heard by you lot on day 2 I suspect you will be all silent now. I didn't think there was anything conclusive in the vision shown for Haddin's dismissal .... ... but, then, I did think he was out in real time when he first played the shot. Does that make DRS largely useless?
  20. Nah. My nan could bowl Ed Cowan out. The real massive wicket will be Ashton Agar!
  21. Welcome Eastie. You'll find all types here but, generally, I've found it's a site worth staying on.
  22. Nah - Hotlips is on a long contract with Frank Burns and won't come here.
  23. No, all Pikes Peak cars are heavily heavily modified. Ari Vatanen's 'Peugeot 405' had 600bhp. Nobuhiro Tajima's Suzuki Escudo (of Gran Turismo fame) had 870bhp. That Vatanen video is legendary and well worth a watch for anyone who has never seen it. Ta. I wasn't aware of that. Also, I think that record was 1988 (not 1990).
  24. As did the car he drove: A highly modified Pugeot with something like 650+ BHP, as a nod to the previous record set by Ari Vartenen in 1990 (in a pugeot 405). This is the original:
