  1. Right on cue, shame Jimmy couldn't finish it off...
  2. Well in Carlos - OMG- and well doen the others ...F^ck me that was hectic
  3. Gabby using his bulk well, should have been a corner from replays...
  4. I really, really hope not, but my head says yes. They will need a major squad overhaul for sure, but once this is done I think the attraction to play for them and the financial rewards (which I expect will still be better than anyone else in that division) will tempt many of the better championship players into moving there (assuming they are not totally screwed financially- which may be possible!). If Shearer does stay, even more of a pull for a player to join. I basically expect they will be able to cherry pick the talent in that division over the summer and build a promotion winning team. But like I said, I really, really hope not
  5. Shame you had to put in the disclaimer- I think you would have had more than a few bites on this ! You had me going until the Blackpool line...
  6. Why does that noise stop when they aren't flying then? LMAO. Thirded, quite literally LMAO.
  7. Correct Ferris, but I guess an easy mistake to make with "hees franche axe-ante" Anyway, happy days for me as UFC is back on Thai cable after a considerable absence, so I spent this morning watching the event. Not a massively exciting card, but I was impressed with Machida who looks a clever operator. Tremendous finishing, even if Joe Rogan did call him Thiago in the post bout interview...
  8. I can't vote unfortunately- no option quite covers my scenario of "Not living in Brum- Not born in Brum- Grew up in Brum- Moved away from Brum" Born in London (East End as well- I know- don't start), moved to Brum when I was 5 and left when I was 30, so I consider myself a Brummie.
  9. Very fair report there, can't disagree with much of that. My thoughts; - Having watched the full game again, we created a slew of presentable chances, 2-1 flattered them a bit really although they held their own in the 2nd half. - Some people say we are lucky at the moment, I think Steve Sidwell would disagree. I am sure he will hit a patch some point this season when he will be scoring regularly. This will help us immensely in the run in. - Luke Young continues to impress and it was nice to see him getting up the flanks as well. - Credit to Gabby for his efforts as he was sick all last week. Well done son ! - Solid outing from Milner who was involved a lot. I think he needs to work on his left footed crossing when he cuts back inside. From memory he seemed to hit the first man quite a lot when doing this. - Laursen looked a little off the pace as may have been expected, didn't look overly comfortable up against Bednar who was a strong physical challenge. As for Luke Moore..oh dear. Overall, job well done, on to the next one.
  10. I was going to say Rythmic Gymnastics, but then I recaled it has its good points. BMX for me, keep it in the X games or whatever.
  11. Lot's of good ideas, never knew we were such a creative bunch. :winkold: I like the Mickey Mouse one Jonesey put up earlier- ever since I saw this sung in Full Metal Jacket, always thought it was a catchy but simple tune.(I suspect the General would like it as well- actually we should probably ask him to help out- I am sure the Marines have a bucket load of marching chants that would easily transform into memorable footy songs.) Here is my version below; Who's the leader of the club that's called A.V.F.C A .S. H. - L. E. Y Y. O. U. N. G Ashley Young ! (ashley young !) Ashley Young ! (ashley young!) (I'm thinking left side-right side for this bit !) Forever you will lead the Villa high-high-high-high! Come along, sing our song and praise A.V.F.C. A. S. H.- L. E.Y Y.O.U.N G Ashley Young ! (ashley young !) Ashley Young ! (ashley young!) Forever you will lead the Villa high-high-high-high! take a breath, and repeat
  12. Hey LV- I found this on the internet, might explain the confusion from some of us English on your turn of phrase :winkold: I spent a few months in Connecticut, so I knew what you were on about. Fannies and packies Let's not even start talking about smoking fags....
  13. Had some nice red wine with Xmas dinner, washed down with a few Beer Laos afterwards. Probably the wrong way round actually but nevermind- merryness was achieved :winkold: Connell interesting to see you were on the Buckfast, some Scottish mates gave me a bottle once- quite a kick to it from memory ! Villadude, top call on the port- I should have bought some of that for my cheeseboard- d'oh ! Just to clarify on Leviramseys terminology- from memory of my time in New England packies means off license !
  14. Truly poetic You've got to love it, couldn't happen to a nicer bunch. My vote is for Mr Magoo. Edit- Sorry, I now see it said Mr Meagee (from Karate Kid?)- I'll stick with Mr Magoo thanks.
  15. Evening Villa brothers- just off to the boozer to meet some other Bangkok Villans to watch the game. Come on you Villa boys, let's do them good and proper !
  16. Over here Honda produce a 4x4 called the CRV. I have certainly come to pigeonhole all drivers of these cars as totally crap. Normally to be found jogging along at 60 mph in the fast lane refusing to move over. Thankfully, undertaking is allowed in Thailand...which is nice. I guess the UK equivalent is the suburban mum who takes their kids to school in a 4x4. I would also agree with Nick, women are generally poor drivers in my experience. I mean , if they can't throw a ball properly how can you expect them to drive ? :winkold:
  17. All this talk of attendances and tickets, I hope I will be able to get a ticket to see the Villa when I visit the UK !! The numbers above are certainly impressive, amazing what a little hope and optimism can do.
  18. I remember Ugo doing this a few years ago in a 1-1 draw at home against Man City when we were in relegation trouble. Don't remember too many complaints from the Villa faithful at the time. :winkold: However, really is about time that "ungentlemanly conduct" if clearly caught on camera became a citable offence, and people should be punished after the event.
  19. Getting a light for my ciggie.. Fishing
  20. In response to the thread title, I'd imagine somewhere between the two. He has enjoyed periods of success and also tougher times, especially over the past couple of years. Undoubtedly a gentleman though, and a good representative for the club.
  21. Does it mention the bit about where they broke the gentlemen's agreement between Villa/WBA and SHA not to take the name of Birmingham in any way ? I fancy the Blosers might have forgotten that bit in their oh-so-fascinating Wilkepedia entry. Just in case you are tempted to follow the link, I summarise below; 1888- Formed SHA 1905- Stole the name of Birmingham 1905-2002 Did feck all 2002-2005 Beat da Villa a couple of times- launched celebratory commemorative T-Shirt and "bollox-on-a-chain" jewellry ranges. 2006- Stole honours from Aston Villa thereby becoming former European Champs and multiple league and FA Cup Winners. 2006- Admitted that stealing honours from Aston Villa was a printing mistake."We would like to point out that Birmingham City have never won the European Cup" 2007- Paid some gypsies to relay their pitch. Even typing about them gets me wound up- dirty fecking noses. Ridge to Blues, I would be surprised.
  22. In no particular order I dislike, Birmingham City Small Heath Alliance The Blose. As I write this 96% of VTers share this sentiment, so I think this question is well and truly answered :winkold:
  23. I used to work 3-11pm, the lie in was nice, but I found it hard to enjoy my free time before work, as I knew I was going to work later on. Saved quite a bit of money though, as obviously it's quite hard to do much socially working these hours. Personally, I think it's better to get work over with, and then you can enjoy the rest of the day in whatever way takes your fancy. 7-3 gets my vote
  24. TT- cheers, I stand corrected ! :winkold: I had a quick look on the ICAS/ICAEW websites to be sure though Looks like a good option, under ICAS (which some of the big four now use) you can qualify after 5 yrs, saving a year on the graduate root of 3yrs uni and 3yrs CA studying/work, and avoiding all that student debt ! As per my original post, my mate did something similar to this but qualified under ACCA, hence my assumption on ACA. Mind you, (no offence meant), if you have you heart set on a career in accountancy at 18yrs of age you want your head looking at ! :winkold:
