    Liverpool

Yeah and all Liverpool needed was a £75m centre back to win the game. In Liverpool's defence, it was more that they won it with several academy graduates in the side, whereas Chelsea's 'kids' cost them about half a billion.
  2. We were shit for most of that though. Our results under him have been fairly commensurate with our level at the time. Once he's fair, we'll be ok. Only concern would be his love of Newcastle.
  3. Yep, definitely this. If anyone has any good ideas, I'd very much appreciate it

    Getting older

Kids playing on the street. But I think there's a few layers to that one. I specifically mean the fact that households are now often 3 cars instead of 1, so housing estate roads are rammed with parked cars. On the odd occasions I drive back to where I grew up, I lament the fact you couldn't play on those roads even if you wanted to. And obviously with 3 car households comes more moving traffic. So times have moved on. The days of 3 and in, rounders, 40-40 etc being played outside your house are probably gone forever.

Good stuff. Now let's go racing, please

Yeah saw that. IIRC they were complaining about it happening every single time, even when not needed. Either that or they didn't understand what an Oxford comma actually is. It was definitely needed above

I thought they discontinued the Iain Dowie pop.
  8. Including the cups, we've actually put a very decent run together at the moment. Only one defeat in ten games since Crawley beat us at the start of November in the Papa John's trophy. That defeat was the entertaining 5-3 loss to top of the table with a perfect record Spurs at the end of January.
  9. Blackburn victory stats updated. Shout out to our own little De Bruyne, Todd Alcock, with a hattrick of assists.

    Ezri Konsa

Torres & Konsa have started 9 games together as a centreback pairing. We've won 8 of those games. The only anomoly was the away defeat to Forest. Of the 7 games where they started together with Konsa at rightback, we've won 4, drawn 2 (wol, bou), lost 1 (liv).

I don't think it should be transparent while it's under investigation. I think it's right to establish any wrongdoing first and then go from there. No-one has the right to have a running commentary of what's going on internally. Obviously the CEO of Ford has a different level of priority, but still I think they're done it right. Now let's see what happens. But you're right. I think there are a few higher-ups who seem to want Horner gone regardless. Meaning they might use this as their excuse, even if the actual crime turns out to be not as serious as is rumoured. I get the impression they would still use 'he's a bit tough to work for' as reason enough for a change, simply because they want it. And for those hard of interpreting, that doesn't mean I think that's what the guilt will be. Just that regardless of what the guilt is, they'll push for change.
  12. You're not totally buggered. This thread is about the injury and it's not as definitive as being out out. They're hopeful still.

Various outlets saying the Horner verdict is today. Can't see it staying private for long.
  14. Yeah I get great joy saying in those situations "well, as it's you that rang me, I guess I'll be hanging up now" and they know damn well they've been hoisted by their own petard
  15. As opposed to being a practice for their patients.
  16. Me too. If he's injured, that's hilarious. 200k transfers in. Meanwhile 172k transfers out for KDB before his 4 assist haul against Luton. It's fairly clear to me (call me naive), that Pep was keeping KDB back for the tougher games. He didn't need him against Brentford or Bournemouth. He gives him a full run-out at Luton to make sure he's ready before a run of games against Man Utd, Liverpool, Brighton, Arsenal & Villa. They're title deciders, and they're exactly the games he'll need KDB for. And they're the games he'll do well in. I'm holding him. I think people have sold at exactly the wrong time. I think that's why he's a troll. People buy him for exactly the games City don't need him for, and then they get nervous heading into the fixtures where he thrives.
  17. Match officials for GW27 Referee: Michael Oliver. Assistants: Stuart Burt, Dan Cook. Fourth official: Matthew Donohue. VAR: Peter Bankes. Assistant VAR: Mark Scholes. Quite surprised that this will be Oliver's first Villa league game of the season.

New clampdown on drivers lapping slowly during qualifying
  19. That 6 goals means Villa Park has witnessed the most amount of goals (50) in the Premier League this season. One clear of Brentford's GTech Community Stadium and 2 clear of Bramall Lane.
  20. Paqueta was the key there. As soon he was back, I said to my mate 'that makes Bowen much more viable'. I didn't expect a bloody hattrick! Well done though. That's the kind of big brained move that gets you places in FPL. Watch the hoard jump on him now after the event.

So it seems the Horner investigation is complete, and they say we'll know the outcome before the race. So, not long now then. If he's innocent and stays, the landscape stays the same. If he's guilty and is let go, then I expect Newey will probably join Ferrari and we'll have the start of our new F1 era.

    General Chat

Ismo does a funny bit about that.
  23. On a similar but even weirder note. I was listening to Tarantino talk about cinema the other day and he made the point that there is a generation now who only know of cinema as being the Marvel universe and super hero movies in general. The almost total saturation of cinema as super hero films IS cinema to them. They never knew anything else. And that's very weird, and sad.
  24. Tonight is the last 16 tie home to Blackburn in the PL Cup. Kick off 7pm.
