  1. Not a single shot of the away section during the match broadcast. Not. One. How does that even happen? There was a brief shot of Sawiris, Elmo, Heck and a few others in their group I didn't recognize, but not a single shot of traveling supporters.
  2. Yep, this is why I voted "Poor" and not "Very Poor". Even if the guy was very poor! You know a ref is unstable when he puffs his chest out and prances as he holds the card up. Total power trip.
  3. Up until yesterday I thought the Euro refs were miles better than Prem refs.
  4. I'm not sure "winning a war" is the framework here, at least for now. Looks like tit-for-tat unless other countries get sucked deeper into the drama.
  5. Mighty impressed with Chevalier. Looks a top young keeper.
  6. Israel bombing Iran, apparently.
  7. I guess this thread is a good place to post this fantastic video-
  8. Telegraphed his penalty, but was a catalyst for our comeback.
  9. The spectacle of it all. European madness, I love it. Tough luck for Lille, who were the better team across the 2 legs, but Villa didn't quit and when it went to penalties the match was won, because we have the world's supreme goalkeeper and its a joy to behold. Bonkers game. Many talking points to keep us occupied until Sunday. No rest for the weary-- Up the Villa
  10. Sorry, but everyone is entitled to react to tonight's results as they see fit, especially in the heat of the moment, and without worrying if their fandom will be questioned! As for my reaction, the English CL flameouts heap pressure on Villa, no question about it. There would be much less anxiety about our fate had at least one of the English sides won tonight.
  11. It should be noted that Atairos is backed (massively) by Comcast, which owns NBC, which has the broadcast rights to the Premier League in the U.S., on a deal through 2027. This is a potentially huge aspect to all of this. Not only do they want the league to succeed as a "product", but they'll want to back their own horse (Villa) to challenge at the very top.

    Unai Emery

Not as influential as Remi Garde, but I see steady improvement.
  13. Arsenal-Spurs will be off the hook. I love it that we've forced Arsenal to throw everything at Spurs.
  14. I keep replaying the Bailey goal because you get a good (if brief) view of the explosion of rapturous Villa fans in that corner. Has any group of away supporters shown that much passion in a goal celebration? I don't think so!
  15. Not only did we win, we outworked them, outran them, outfought them. Our collective fitness level is the best I've ever seen in a Villa team. To do that, just a few days after the Lille match with a virtually unchanged starting 11, at this stage of the season, is superb, so credit the coaching staff and fitness team for preparing the team like they have.
  16. Not many players could have scored that goal. Ollie is in a state of bliss.
  17. The Emi & Emery Revenge Double! The warrior blood of Diego Carlos pumped through the veins of the entire team today and we drove a spear straight into the heart of Arteta and his title pretenders! This will be the humiliating result that will mark the end of their league title quest. The two Robbies are all about how Arsenal didn't show up for the second half, but everyone who saw the game knows that Villa were brilliant, the better team on the day and deserved the three points. Hopefully enough left in the tank to see off Lille. This is fun, isn't it? @est1874 I told you I knew we were on it from the first 20 seconds! UTV
