  1. Yeah, so nice not to have the FSC muppets yap away before kickoff. And no Julie Foudy, wooooooot! So it looks like Georgie Bingham and whatever retired footballers ESPN can get to come to Bristol on a Saturday morning (Shaka Hislop who's apparently coaching down the road at Quinnipiac is one of the notable ones) will present the games where ESPN US takes the international feed. She stumbled a few times last Saturday (getting Michael Owen and Wayne Rooney confused: "that was Rooney's first goal since January, when he was of course with Newcastle"), but somehow I can forgive that... there're three good points about her (not least is the East Anglian accent...). For games that are shared with ESPN UK, it'll be more or less straight into the game (ESPN US picked up the ESPN UK feed when Ray Stubbs handed it off to Jon Champion, though the edition of SportsCenter that preceded the game ran over its allotted time by a bit), the UK halftime show, and straight out of the game to commercials and regular ESPN programming. Very good camera work, though it took ESPN2 several minutes to dispense with the BottomLine, which was ruining some of the UK lower-thirds. Hold on, Foudy WAS in studio on Sat.???????

  3. Brilliant by all.....Including ESPN, our new talisman
  4. How can you argue against 4-5-1 after tonight? Especially given our striker situation. We have plenty of options in MF and that will only get better with Downing. What we need now is 3 fullbacks and a striker. Another midefielder is a luxury spend IMO. But 4-5-1 all **** day
  5. Good post, General. One function of this forum is that it allows people to vent their frustrations, and sometimes it can seem that the anger and negativity is the prevailing mindset of the supporters. I know most supporters on this site and everywhere else are behind the manager and chairman 100%, even if we have concerns right now. UTV
  6. He wont be sacked. Chances are he stays the whole way. What's scary is that we currenly look like relegation material. Can you imagine?
  7. Strictly 2009/10, what do you think his fate is?
  8. I can speak a basic form of conversational Spanish whereby the native speaker will be fascinated to learn that "I had a Mexican girlfriend", "I like cold beer" and "When does the train leave?"
  9. Haha, I think you have to give him at the very least the time to sign more players and then a few months to see how the team gels. If this season turns into a trainwreck come October, Lerner will have a new and unusual dilemna: The possibility of having to sack The Messiah. But you never know what's really going on behind the scenes. It could be Lerner who's putting the kibosh on certain transfers. MON isnt gonna come out and say he wasnt getting the backing from the owner. Interesting times ahead...
  10. I miss that lad O'Leary signed....erm whats his name? Obama
  11. Now, if I went over to the regular Villa forum and made a thread called "Should Delph have started?", would it get locked because it should be asked on this particular thread here? If we want to talk about a specific thing regarding the game, we are now not allowed to start it's own thread? Scratching my head a bit here....
  12. I have to say other than the first 15 minutes that Ashley Young was **** useless today. I disagree. He was still causing trouble for their defenders well beyond the first 15 minutes...my only problem with his game in general is that he often tries too hard to dribble through 3 men and it obviously doesn't always come off. He needs to keep his head up more.
  13. By the looks of that mess, we're a solid mid-table team, as comprised. The back four had no authority about them, and little composure on the ball, Delph and Petrov were more or less invisible, and Heskey and Gabby proved that they are both better suited to coming off the bench than being starting strikers. I wasn't too impressed by Friedel either. The only players who I rated highly were Milner and Young. Much to fix, not much time to do it. And is it really any big shock that Carew wasn't fit to play? We should all get used to the fact that he will consistently be out injured, which leaves us with Heskey, Gabby and Defouneso. Poor. And to think we caould have signed Tuncay, but did not? Who would have liked to see Tuncay playing today? For that matter, who would have prefered to see Sidwell start instead of Delph, who looked a little scared and was ineffective throughout the game. MON should give the boy more time. The only good that can come out of this is that lerner will insist on spending the required money to get the required quality in. But I'm not holding my breath. This could get really ugly....
  14. Theres something flawed with the "Eye for an eye, let them rot in jail" option. An eye for an eye means the criminal gets what he gave. If he gorged someone's eyeballs out then his eyeballs should be gorged out too. Truly an eye for an eye. I picked "depends", cuz it's the obvious choice, IMO. If someone is mentally unsound, or has some sort of illness, then compassion is a must. But the longer I live, the less tolerance I have for psychopaths. Lock them up for life at a minimum if they kill, rape or cripple. At a maximum....an eye for an eye, and let the victims families get to them first
  15. Living 1,000 miles away, I'm jealous that you even have the ability to see ANY games. I've been to VP just once, and that was 10 years ago. Keep your tickets
  16. I know he probably past it, but his contract with MLS is up in the air.... Be honest now....as a 4th or 5th choice striker....wouldnt you want him over The Hare?
  17. Im both I love my privacy, but do enjoy being a little rowdy too. But I'll take solitude every time. So maybe introvert

    Running

I run, weather permitting. I didn't stretch the other day and within one minute, pulled up lame. Bad calf cramp that is still sore. ALWAYS STRETCH!
  19. So just because it was "America's war", you were against it? Is that the only criteria you used to evaluate the pros and cons of the war? I was completely against the war, because it was WRONG.

    Baseball

The National League was a singular entity in the 1800's, as was the American. The National was considered the real professinal league, but eventually the two merged to form Major league Baseball. It's hard to determine how teams were assigned to their league. it just kind of happened.
