  1. I liked it, but... However it goes on to say: Sorry, I know it's a bit pedantic, but at least get your facts right, or certainly double check what you have written! In relation to the main point, I don't mind other teams underestimating us and thinking we are "doing a Fulham". Means they will be less prepared for us
  2. Does this mean he can take up his asylum claim with USA quicker and leave us alone? Shame it wasn't for longer, but the Contempt of Court is used very rarely anyway; because most people respect the laws... Sadly, he is an absolute idiot who does not understand why these restrictions were in place in the first instance. Also read his "supporters" have thrown bottles/cans at police. Lovely people they are...
  3. Ditto with the quiet efficiency. When it is leaking to the press its done and dusted pretty much by the looks of it. Not sure I agree entirely with necessary list though. DM - definitely needed. Hourihane isn't probably going to be good enough in this role, though I definitely think he has a big part to play throughout the season. GK - probably needed. Steer did great in the end, but for me, hasn't yet shown enough to be 1st choice premier league keeper. Kalinic possibly as well but we have not seen nearly enough of him but if Kalinic is wanting to move on anyway, then we will need someone else regardless. Going into the season with just Steer/Nyland will not be enough. Steer/Kalinic/Nyland, possibly, but doesn't fill me with great confidence. Such a crucial position as well. Right Sided Winger/Forward - probably needed. Jota I think will play a much bigger role than some think and I think he will be good at it as well. With El Ghazi as first choice, Jota and Green as the squad players, with only Kodjia being able to play there it does look like there is a gap. These 3 positions I agree with you, we need to strengthen. Centre Back - depends on roles of Chester. Room for a 5th CB is there, but think it will be Mings/Konsa as first choice, Hause/Chester as back up. I would be OK with that. If a good option came about then possibly, but then that would really limit the role of Chester. Striker - depends on how much reliance we are going to have on Wesley. If he is going to be first choice, I cannot see us signing anyone more. If he is going to be more squad/rotation I can see us signing someone, with Kodjia &/or Davis moving on (permanent or on loan respectively). I am not sure what Smith makes of RHM but it doesn't seem promising. Is he training with 1st team? It may be that actually the Right Winger/Forward could play both positions and that would probably sort out both issues, certainly for this season though. These 2 roles though, IMO, are desperately need of a signing, and certainly not in lieu of the other needed positions, especially the defensive midfielder. What is clear though, is that we look a lot less desperate to sign players and have pretty much a full preseason for the new ones to get on board the Villa train

This is a Dean Smith signing all over. Exactly what we are looking for. Pleased with this and another position sorted

Can’t be true, thought all players from Brentford cost £20million at least...
  6. Not having it - the pre work permit announcement was Thursday 13 June 2019; formally done on Tuesday 2 July 2019. I will give @Delphinho123 Jota though, that was Wednesday 5 June 2019...
  7. So: Monday 10 June 2019 - El Ghazi signs Monday 17 June 2019 - Hause signs Monday 1 July 2019 - Targett signs Monday 8 July 2019 - Mings signs So @Delphinho123, when you said Wednesday, did you actually mean Monday
  8. To be fair Gareth Barry/James Milner/Ashley Young/Stewart Downing all got called up whilst at Villa. Ill give you Scott Carson though, and possibly Southgate for that penalty. With Mings & Grealish we have 2 players knocking at the door for the England team, the rest of the country just doesn’t know it yet.
  9. So happy! Key key part of the transfer dealings. Worth every penny. Can’t wait for the England call up later in the season. Mods - can we drop the loan tag please!
  10. As has been said by many before - the absolute embodiment of the 2nd half of the season and one of the keys to promotion. £20million/26million - it doesn’t matter. What matters is that he will be here next season. I will be over the moon when this is officially done.
  11. To be fair, that thread has a little less doom and gloom that this one...
  12. Off topic, but the fact that the 3 players you have highlighted that would possibly make this team were all from the French league and that side of the transfer dealing. Reinforces the argument as to what was the problem that season... Anyway, back on topic, any noises of signings? Any random ITK knowledge? Anything utterly made up? Seems particularly quiet...
  13. Fair enough for him. I am grateful for the 18 months that he gave us. At the end of the day I just hope he gets the run of games to show his potential. We all know that he has that and would prefer him to have done that in a Villa shirt than a Man Utd shirt, but he has been through their system and I can completely understand why he would want to have a crack at it. So on that note I hope he does well for them in all but the games against us this season. In those games I hope he plays terrible and scores a hattrick of own goals #agenttuanzebe
  14. Yes we have been. Other teams are now signing more players so I think we will see more movement over the next week or 2.
  15. He just comes across as a really nice guy that just wants to play football. My suspicion is that we have got a real gem of a player here that could grow into legendary status.
  16. just had a nose on Bournemouth, looks like they are back in training, but cannot see Tyrone anywhere in pictures... It has gone quiet on this one... too quiet...
  17. Seriously though, as @bickster says, the red lines are purely down to us and what the government assumed were the reasons why people voted for brexit. Complete and utter fabrication of issues that only serve the Conservative Party's agenda, they are not in the interest of the country or the people that live in it. Completely bonkers and one of the main reasons why we have got into the mess that no deal remains on the table, somehow. Think now it is more around stubbornness and nobody wanting to admit they are wrong. Instead everyone seems to be doubling down, which makes any form of compromise even more difficult.
  18. Why are we announcing this today and not Wednesday? Did Villa not get the memo?!
  19. I think he will probably start against Spurs. His performances in that run at the end of the season were fantastic and he fully deserved that spot. I can imagine him and Guilbert competing and for Smith that is healthy, but Elmo has the shirt at the moment.
  20. We will be above Man Utd soon enough and McGinn knows it. They are a club that whilst will always be there or there abouts in top half, have made some terrible decisions since Ferguson has left. They will follow what Liverpool did in the 90s and spend years in relative wilderness.
