  1. Presumably someone will have calculated exactly that and decided they are better off getting a good night’s sleep in Croatia then doing that first thing. Players travel on the day of games all the time.

    “Don’t you mean wunderkind?”
  3. I see this happening as well. This season and next as first choice, hopefully a young prospect in to challenge next summer and over the next 2-3 years gradually take his slot as he gets into his 30s (which he’s only a couple of years off). If Mings then stays with us for years like Morgan at Leicester or Jagielka at Everton to keep the team culture and step in when needed, that’s ideal, including him staying as club captain. Then agree, if he wants to coach he has all the ingredients.
  4. Beat Everton and Wolves, a point from one of the others is 7. Might slip up against Everton or Wolves, equally might beat Arsenal (look crap but we have beaten them too many times in a row to count on it again) or Spurs (just got battered by Palace). Assume nothing from United. So 7-9 I think.

Not any more he isn’t, poor lad. I’m still wincing and I just saw it on tv
  6. I have Richarlison in my fantasy team so it balances out.
  7. Oddschecker has us at 8/5 favourites and Everton at 2/1 so if you think they’re that good then you can triple your money on them.
  8. Think we will do Everton next week very comfortably.
  9. There were people on here saying the same about Grealish the season before last and he just went for £100m!
  10. I see this entirely the opposite way. After three years at a club is when I expect the manager to have had enough time on the training field with players to be able to switch between different tactical systems as he thinks best for any given game.
  11. Leeds have conceded 11 in 4 now. They have what is starting to look like a must-win against Newcastle next week - insane to say this early in the season but if they lose that they will lose a few more now and then a Bielsa implosion would see him walk. Shame as I like their football. On Smith - I’m delighted to see him adding some tactical flexibility into his game and we would have beaten most teams in the league this weekend. Would be great if teams couldn’t name our starting line-up in advance - if we could go 3-5-2, 4-3-3 or 4-2-3-1 it will keep people guessing a lot.
  12. If we had Messi instead of Ings likewise. The best player in the world in their respective position would improve anyone. I don’t think there is a defender in the world whose name you couldn’t swap for Mings in that sentence.
  13. Thought he was our best player by miles today. So much potential
  14. In general I agree with this but I don’t know of any successful team that has ever operated that way with goalkeepers. It’s the one position you don’t play around.
  15. Not his fault at all and I think even fine for an ok PL keeper. But I wouldn’t leave out a world class keeper for him as soon as we can make the change.
  16. Steer conceded three goals today from three shots. Let’s get Emi back in ASAP.
  17. Three shots on target, three goals. Would you believe there were people saying Steer should keep the shirt?
  18. Even Graeme Le Saux as a Chelsea man saying on commentary that he thinks Atwell has favoured them ridiculously. We have looked good. Has made me a lot more confident about the season ahead.
  19. Standard - people have decided they are annoyed with him so will throw anything at him. All I even saw him say about Arsenal this week was actually ‘about’ Independiente - he just said he didn’t want to leave but felt pressured to (he may have said more that I missed).
  20. I am always happy to blame FIFA but… 1) This wouldn’t necessarily have affected incident on the pitch in Brazil. The health department didn’t listen to the Brazilian FA and wouldn’t listen to FIFA. (Unless perhaps they would have been fine with it if the Brazilian players were there, that’s possible for sure). 2) FIFA could argue I suppose that “we don’t need to release a statement saying ‘the rules are the rules and continue to be the rules’.” No-one released a statement saying “despite the pandemic, the speed limit remains the same”… But yes they could probably have been a bit clearer you would think!
  21. Well as I read the articles, they HAVE as things stand. ie by default. The ECA President is asking them to overturn it…
  22. Not sure about this - FIFA LOVE pissing off clubs! They just said they plan for the WC to be every two years without even asking them
