  1. As things stand now I think our two first choice line ups are 4-2-3-1 with Jack-Buendia-Traore behind Watkins, or 4-3-3 with Jack and Buendia either side of him. If we sign ESR I suspect that becomes 4-2-3-1 with Jack-ESR-Buendia behind Watkins. Be great to have those options with Traore, Young, El Ghazi, Carney etc all also wanting minutes.
  2. Across the Euros and Copa it’s four - Mings, DL, Emi and Grealish, all having played a fair bit.
  3. 300k I think. Edit: what I read was dollars so closer to your number.
  4. I saw the same and I was thinking he was probably having a chat with him about the decision not to bring him on - I’m not a Southgate fan but he’s shown good awareness this week talking about how to manage forwards who aren’t playing. If you want to keep a happy squad the first people you’re chatting to after today’s win are Jack and Foden as your unused forwards.
  5. Shevchenko like most former footballers spends most of his time playing golf and hanging out at football industry events in London - PFA and so on. Not sure if Jack plays golf but imagine they have met a few times.
  6. Woah woah woah this is a great debate but let’s not claim ridiculous things like Tino Werner being a better player than… well… any other player…
  7. Exactly this mate. I am a little itk on this one - friend of a friend stuff - and he was devastated when we signed Martinez as he knew he was done. He lost first choice at Burnley, was thrilled to get first choice at Villa as he didn’t want to drop out of the PL, and then his bad luck that he got such a bad injury. I imagine his agent looked around for a first-choice PL spot for him all season, couldn’t get one, and he’d rather be backup at United where he’s a fan. Good luck to him. Seems like a good guy and he’s had an unlucky couple of years.
  8. Southgate has said he’s not fully fit and needs careful management. And Grealish himself said yesterday he came back too early to try to make this squad.
  9. That’s one of the ones that’s the other way around I think once you step outside the tabloids - Argentina hate England but apart from a few 50+ blokes who still care about the Falklands and a few 45+ blokes who are sore about the 1986 handball most people I know either love Argentina for the flair players they have had over the years or are indifferent to them. Kind of like the Netherlands.
  10. I don’t want to sign Dele so not arguing with your points above but don’t think this is true… He’s younger than Grealish and Watkins, I’m sure he’ll have a few good days yet to come somewhere or other. PSG were trying to sign him in January, I think it’s almost as likely he’d turn us down than the other way around tbh.
  11. All legit except then you see players like Lingard be sensational for West Ham. Sadly the fact is there is NO rule for who will be a success or not - sometimes it will be a young player, sometimes old, sometimes British, sometimes not, sometimes a player on the way up, sometimes on the way down. The only rule is pick the right players…
  12. I can believe this of ESR but wild they haven’t bumped Saka to double that at least. We should buy him as well!
  13. I mean he was a kid, that’s the thing. People loved him because he came in as a high-profile teenager in a cute story of how he ended up in Birmingham but he was younger when he left than Keinan Davis is now… To put that in perspective if Keinan leaves us, wins 50 caps for his country, captains them, wins the Bundesliga, becomes a great spokesperson on discrimination and always talks highly of his love for Villa for the rest of his career we will look back on him fondly as well even if he was never exactly prolific as a youngster with us
  14. But ‘his part’ was setting up both goals! I know the first was assist to an assist but that would not have been the pass with any other player.
  15. Actually think Cantwell has a ton of potential, but a little strange if we buy Buendia AND him. Winks strikes me as someone who needs a move and he will then either flourish or vanish without trace. I imagine that will end up being to someone like West Ham.
  16. 100% correct about the movement. The world-class nature of Grealish is the extra half second he took before playing the ball so Shaw could drill rather than float the cross. And I did see that mentioned in various reports to be fair - that’s what they mean about him changing the game, his assist was then him killing it off.
  17. Happened with the first goal actually - he absolutely demanded it from Kane. Double arm gesture and screamed for it. Then that lovely little pass. Needs to keep doing it until they realise it’s the best option most times
  18. Nah, the ‘holder’ in midfield needs to be a big strong guy. We don’t need another lightweight CM
  19. This has been my dream… I’d be fine with Doug winning the Copa as well though.
