  1. What if a player hits a shot hopelessly wide but a freak gust of wind blows it back towards the goal, on target or off?
  2. Queen were simply The Shit, anyone who thinks otherwise is full of shit. Love em.
  3. Welcome back general, it's usually around this time of year that I do my rather extensive report on my annual trip to VP, last years report is here for anyone interested due to a mad dash to and from the Arsenal game from the airport (I don't recommend flying an hour either side of kick-off/final whistle) I really only got to see the game and not much else but there were a couple of things I noticed: 1. The place really does look fantastic, clean and just generally very well maintained. 2. A thank you to the ticket office folks, there were a number of us visiting from New York and unfortunetly the match tickets did not arrive before we left but replacement tickets were printed and left in seperate envelopes for collection at the main ticket office where we were very well accomidated despite the large crowd in there. 3. Much to my surprise there was no transit to the ground from the airport, being Boxing Day all the trains were off so we had to rely on lifts and taxi's to the ground. There was at least 40 Villa fans travelling to the match on two seperate flights from Dublin that would have made a coach worthwhile not to mention probably a load more arriving from other areas. Perhaps the suggestion of an airport service could be raised should you talk to any coach operators that serve Villa Park. 4. We were seated in L9 and there was a couple of drunk young lads right in the middle acting up, thought the stewards handled them in a firm but fair manner without being confrontational and the boys settled down, good security job. 5. Can't wait for my next visit.
  4. If only I had the cash and vacation days I'd do the Spurs trip aswell. Levi I'll stick that info in this weeks email blast see if anyone is interested.
  5. Petrov for the second half of last season and all of this one.
  6. Sorry for your loss General. Your father lived through a period that shook human history and played his part in molding the wonderful free world that we were born into. History will remember him as a hero when the world needed such men and undoubtedly living to such an age after many battles is an accomplishment in itself. A life to be celebrated sir.
  7. Season 3 of Dexter is one of the best seasons of any show I've ever followed. Last episode airs here on Sunday.
  8. If you get a real tree you simply must put the base of it in some water, that really helps prevent the tree from shedding.
  9. General have you spoken to our new National Security Advisor since he landed the job? What will Commandant 32 be bringing to the new Administration? Will US security share in the Marine in charge effect we Villa fans have been enjoying? and how about getting Obama to a game on one of what I imagine will be many visits to the UK in the next 4 years?
  10. Reading Brickhill's Great Escape at the moment, while I think a shot for shot remake would be pointless I think there is room for a more gritty and realistic depiction of the escape based more on the real events and characters.
  11. Not yet Ryu we need to get our act together a little bit more, am tempted to assign this whole planning to the girls since they are excellent at doing such (or at least claim to be). We also need to have a word with the club to see how much they could help us cram into the trip.
  12. 5 years ago I was working as a Graphic Designer for a film company here in NY, doing posters, flyers and websites. It was a step down from the job I left behind in Ireland and I was getting paid peanuts. Since then I have done a bit of time as a consultant been on a rollercoaster with a start-up company that became huge before collapsing to where I am now, comfortable management job. For me and the missus our income has trippled in the last 5 years and we now live in an apartment twice the size of our old one standard of living is way up from the days where it was a struggle to afford lunch and we'd have to think twice about running the air conditioner. Still I do truly regret having achieved sweet **** all in the last 5 years.
  13. You lads not finished this yet
  14. I would be far more useful behind the lines rather than in the line of fire.
  15. It is estimated that Malaria has killed one out of every two humans who have ever lived, by your total that would be an astonishing 53 billion people.
  16. I agree, problem is Microsoft sucessfuly pulled off an early gen release one year before Sony. This means that by the time PS3 gets to its full potential the 360 life cycle will have expired and Microsoft will be releasing the next generation Xbox hardware. Sony can either hope that the PS3 has enough juice to last through 2 gens or release the PS4 early which would seriously piss off anyone who bought a PS3 in the last year or coming year.
  17. Has to be 360. Cheapest of the 3 starting at $199 over here, has by far the largest library, best online system, easiest to develop for, best exclusives, best controller. The Playstation wins on Power and the Wii on novelty but the addition of the Netflix library to 360 here next week is going to be killer. I don't know if it'll surface in the uk but with a Netflix account we will be able to stream over 12,000 flims, tv shows, etc on demand through the xbox many of them in HD. that for me kills any interest in Blu Ray.
  18. I think we could probably do it for $650 - $800 per person which would include return flights from the East Coast, two nights hotel in Birmingham and obviously match ticket. Granted food and drink would drive that up.
  19. Veterans day regards General! Dusting off the old uniform and medals today?
  20. We've been talking about it for a long time at least amongst the NY Villans but this season we really hope to arrange a group trip to Villa Park from the US. In doing so we have identified a number of fixtures to choose from the games with Lions Club allocations. Now to explain what is going on here the club have picked these games based upon the best experience they can offer visiting fans. For each game they have set aside 1,000 seats around the ground allowing us to choose exactly where we want to sit. Aside from the ticketing, they plan to use these pre-arranged dates to give you more opportunities to offer supporters clubs a full "weekend experience"to include pre-match stadium tours, Holte Pub evenings, Old Star events. There will also be a Supporters' Club Awards Evening after the last home match of the season. The club will also be arranging special rates at certain hotels. The May 24th fixture stands out since it is Memorial Day weekend and many of us will be off that Monday the 25th. Let me know if you would be interested in going and which game you would prefer to see. Donal. NYVillans.
  21. Hoping the best for your father General his service record is astonishing, a real American hero from a time when they were most desperately needed.
