  1. Very pleased to pick him up at this price. He has got much better and will play his part in a beast of a back line.
  2. He's saying it's an honour to have a kneecap in the Premier? He's a right thick word removed.
  3. The only thing I could read wasn't even proper English. What's with the Americanised spelling of "honour"? I don't want this guy in the shirt.
  4. Just be grateful you weren't in milkshaking range, Adolf.
  5. Oh, Ross, you scallywag. Spending the maintenance payments on pints of heavy and Drambuie. And a source I've seen reckons his pay off is of the order of around £2.5m and we've saved ourselves at least the same again by getting rid on those terms - because of a promotion salary uplift clause, presumably.
  6. We had. Nearly ten days ago before you broke the shitecrust again.
  7. Good news as far as shunting out someone of zero value to the club. He wouldn't have ever played for us again and we would never have got anyone to take him on loan whilst covering his massive wages, so he'd have been a financial drain on the club in some way until contract expiry. I doubt we'll ever know what the details are behind the euphemism. However, contract variance can cover a multitude of elements of the contract. The one we can be sure of is contract length. The parties have agreed a variance to end it before it original life term. What we won't get to know is what variance to the consideration there was, i.e. were we able to get him to accept less than the full paid up contract? I would imagine there have been some lawyerly wrangles about his fitness, non-performance, possible breaches he has or is likely to commit and how it would be everybody's interest if he takes x% of the value and **** off whilst we are still being cordial.
  8. Like a MILF McGinn? I mean, who wouldn't?
  9. I thought he was a good signing for them and was amazed they got him but I think I have the explanation. Look at this then couple that with the "taking the shot from above" ruse to make themselves look less obese and ugly. This is what happened to poor Jota. He ended up, having been subjected to trickery and illusion by the scum where they showed him photos of Bodymoor instead of Wast Hills and took him to Moseley Rugby Stadium instead of the sty, with the football equivalent of a Tinder date with a desperate, malodorous, plooky, greasy-haired land-whale but didn't know it until he found himself boxed in at the dinner table. Despite being thoroughly disgusted at what he found himself being publicly seen with, he was too much of a gentleman to do anything but see the dinner through. However, after a dinner of wearing a rictus grin and a humiliating walk of shame to the car park, he ran to his old mate's car and told him "Get me the **** outta here!"
  10. Except when people not only can't resist taking the bait, they feel the need to show the fly they've risen to by quoting.
  11. It does make you wonder, doesn't it, especially when Purslow said post-game words to the effect of us being a year ahead of schedule in terms of expectations. Maybe he goes out on loan next season. To Derby or another team that isn't Dirty Leeds or Scum Alliance.
  12. No, it doesn't need that much real estate. You could write it on the front on the Queen's nose
  13. Whatever our ambitions are for next season, we may not achieve what Smith perceives and understands as success. Hilariously he totally blindsided Purslow in that interview when asked about where he was looking to finish and he said "1st". Thus rendering The Wee One into initial stunned silence then strangled supporting ejection of, "100%". However, we only need to be better than three teams this year. Can we do that? In the words of Purslow, "100%".
  14. I've read the LUFC forums. They don't mince words, he regularly gets slated.
  15. Yeah, but he's another we can loan out to Derby.
  16. There's some merit to that theory, a short-term, "You've already made your fortune, mate" type deal. However, it would still surprise me if the recruitment committee sanctioned it or he accepted it. I'm inclined to think he's outside the player profile we'll be going for now and that kind of deal is a couple of years too soon for him to go for.
  17. Maybe, but as Mazrim points out, they wouldn't be playing for us in the Prem anyway, they're past that stage of their careers.
  18. They haven't pissed about, it's true, but there haven't been any WTF?-type moves from them yet in terms of departures. Everyone who has gone so far either hasn't played for us in a while/fringe/twilight of career/not Prem level. The only one of the leavers that I've seen any serious suggestion about keeping is Whelan as a "maybe could still do a job, but preferably only in an emergency filler situation" player. I'm getting the strong sense that Deano, Purslow, Suso, et al are very confident in terms of their recruitment strategy and process and have zero doubts they don't need Whelan-type squad players because they will have strengthened sufficiently. It'll be very interesting to see how many of the players who played at Wembley start the first game of next season. Indeed, how many are even at the club.
  19. However, as a number of posters have pointed out already in this thread, if anyone can get a tuna out of him it's Dean.
  20. Agreed. No surprises that none of them didn't get offered another contract and the right decision in all cases. Too leggy for the PL now and at this stage in their careers not of the quality we need, even as squad players. Best of luck to them all, I've absolutely no ill-will towards any of them. They all played with heart and commitment.
  21. Agree with both posts. There has been some embarrassingly classless stuff posted about a long-serving, committed but now-departing player. I don't understand the mentality of some people. We're getting, essentially, "Yeah, you were crap. **** off, Alan" in this thread and in other threads we get people posting about Benteke, a word removed who is now shite and wanted to bale after a season, in such a way I'm inclined to think they'd lick his grolley off a wet dog turd if he allowed us to slap 100k a week on him on a three year deal. Seriously, if you can't bring yourselves to be magnanimous, or merely keeping your baleful counsel, towards a player who always played to his limits - even if they didn't meet your standards - in the week we get promoted and he moves on, you need to have a word with yourselves.
  22. It certainly seems the club aren't messing about when it comes to telling players they are being released. They've not allowed much more than hangover-recovery time to elapse before giving Albert and Alan the news. However, this is obviously just communicating decisions taken a good while ago. Those two come into the, "If we go up, these out of contract guys will be thanked and we'll wish them well" group. Wouldn't be surprised to hear about some more tomorrow. As you say, there's no point pissing about and it gives them that much longer to get their next move sorted if they are looking to play on.
  23. So, at least 50% of the current club owners were involved in putting together the FFP system some people think we are going to get boned by?
