  1. Lambert is still the right man. These results are atrocious I agree but I still believe in him. We aren't the worst team in the league, the table proves that and I really believe we will get a lot better and that has to mean moving away from the relegation zone. The players he has brought are good but they are inexperienced. A few new players in Jan and we can move up the table. I understand the negativity on this thread but 3 games ago it was all different and in 3 games time it could be different again. Villa fans are very fickle but I'm going to keep my confidence in Lambert because I believe in the big picture he is creating. People will disagree with me but I don't care, people will pick holes in my argument with stats or something else but I think Lambert is the right man and I hope he continues and is allowed decent money in the upcoming transfer window....
  2. I still support Lambert, need to spend some funds in January though
  3. We struggled under Houllier, we struggled further under McLeish and now we are suffering.....common denominator....Lerner. I'm not saying Lerner needs to go, he just needs to invest in the squad
  4. He shouldn't be sacked, he needs funds. Lerner is mostly to blame for lack of quality in the squad, Lambert only had a small budget to fill many many holes. Some experienced heads with this team will make a world of difference
  5. Too many looking lost in this game, Holman especially and what is with Benteke always going offside
  6. Surely this thread is full of wind up merchants. While the Chelsea result was really bad, I am far happier this season, far more faith in the future. I expected some really bad results on the way given where we have to come from but I can see where Lambert is taking us and I'm excited. The pessimists on this thread (or as I'm likely to be told in future comments "the realists") I feel sorry for. McLeish put 10 men behind the ball and maybe that's why the stats are better. The difference for me is Lambert is building the future, under McLeish we would've stayed the same and would've been relegated at some point. Under Lambert we are building, we are passing more, trying more and as time goes on we'll get better as I have seen in the first part of the season (aside from Chelsea). As the youngsters settle more, our defence will tighten, our creative play will improve and we'll finally start to score more regularly. I can see the start of that, can see it developing, so a few blips here and there I can take......
  7. Very bad day at the office, but I still believe in the journey
  8. I agree with this. I am disappointed with the game but I know this will happen once in a while but the bigger picture is going well. Hopefully the score won't get much bigger and maybe we can nick a goal to make the second half a bit entertaining but if not it's just a blip in the journey
  9. but that is all we expected given what was expected. i would even say mid table in the first season is better than expected. it is about the journey and building for the future, we can't buy success so build from the bottom and grow......highlights from the likes of westwood is so inspiring for the future
  10. Haven't been on the forum for about a month and I'm a little shocked some don't want Lambert. While the results haven't been what we would've liked, what he's doing and seeing the seeds he is sowing I'm really excited by the future. Yes, now isn't rosy but nobody expected it to be really did they at this stage? We all said it was a big overhaul or change needed at the club and that's what Lambert is doing and this is the bottom but you can see the players growing together and the potential for the future.....
  11. I'm bizarrely still optimistic, I think this season is going how I expected although probably one more win on the board wouldve been more desirable but I did think we would be bottom half of the table. New, young players in, new system and the need for time to adapt. I believe it's going as expected. We'll get better and will pick up the results as games move more into the season and players settle. I'm worried about not having a dominant force in midfield so hopefully Lambert will address that in the next window
  12. I'm surprisingly optimistic, a long journey to travel but I think we are on the right path
  13. what? Bannan has been awful I disagree That's fine and I respect that. Just getting frustrated with his hit and hopes and then disappearing in midfield
  14. I think that's the most exciting part about it, we were sooooooo boring last season and we all knew what was going to happen every game but now we don't. We assume we will struggle for the first part of the season as we are weak and new players need to get used to a new club and new league.....but if they gel and PL works his magic then who knows after that.....of course it could fall in a heap and we get relegated easily but at least I'm excited about the Villa this season and I have to put my faith in that PL knows what he's doing
  15. the longer we stay on 0 points and bottom of the league the harder it will be. I dont think we have any real chance of any points in the next two games as newcastle and swansea are streets ahead of us. The Southampton game then becomes massive, if we lose that and 0 points from 5 games then i can imagine there will be trouble. the young players may well crumble under the unrest. Wow, a little too negative....
  16. Just so disappointed with him today apart from one run towards the Holte which ended in nothing but the attempt was good and I expected more but it wasn't to be
  17. It's sad that we have to create a thread about our programme as the transfer chat is crap, repetitive and nothing new to talk about. Next we'll be talking about how the cleaner has a new hairstyle....
  18. I was just about to write a similar piece. A left back and winger are essential, a striker would be key and I would like a CM as well. At the moment I'm just hoping for the first two
  19. ...all of whom would vastly improve our squad problem is they would only improve our squad and few would be in the first XI on a regular basis.....probably just Cahill and maybe Whittingham
  20. Keane type player is the second striker we need rather than a big centre forward in my opinion
