  1. Hopefully a nice little confidence boost but let's face it, the level of opposition is far lower than he's used to playing even in the championship.
  2. How he managed to keep *checks notes* Thai league superstar Nelson Bonilla from scoring is anyone's guess.
  3. You can't really have it both ways tbh.
  4. Nice assist but that's against some of the easiest opposition he's probably ever played against, in fairness.
  5. Jury's out, for me and I'm glad he's on loan for this reason. He's got until the end of the season to show us why we should invest in him, because we've only seen glimpses so far. It should be noted that there are definitely mitigating factors, namely the betting scandal that disrupted him for a while, not to mention a completely new league, country and club to settle down into.
  6. Yeah, I agree, and at the same time, you can see why he cost what he did rather than 20m+ - there's some development required. That can actually be very good though as we'll be shaping him as a footballer to play in our system.

    Jhon Durán

He played like Brobbey is hyped up to.
  8. It was really good to see Bailey and Diaby both on the pitch and both playing well. They've kinda got in each other's way a little at times before.
  9. Really good performance from him tonight and I'm so happy he got his goal - as said above, should be a great confidence booster for him.
  10. Are you trying to apply logic to football fan rants?
  11. Not exactly surprising. Diaby's had a downturn in form and Zaniolo hasn't pulled up any trees since he arrived. I think people were expecting more from them.
  12. I think any local lad is immediately called a Villa fan tbh - I've not seen any confirmation that either of those two are, just wishful thinking.
  13. The Sky narrative is definitely going to be to put pressure on us because they want Man Utd to finish as high as possible and in the CL places. All they care about is viewing figures and there are tons of fair-weather fans who will tune in if Man Utd are on a roll but not be arsed if they aren't. Of course they'll be having a word with their presenters to try and pile on the pressure by casting doubt on our credentials, but you know what? F**k it. Unai is an incredible manager and he has handled the pressure of being at clubs that don't have the backing of the league/media before. We're not getting a better manager than him and so he's our best chance of achieving something for a change.
  14. Look, what they do in the privacy of their own rooms is entirely up to them.
  15. This. It was a clumsy goalkeeper challenge whereas McGinn was looking to take the man out to stop the counter.
  16. Transfermarkt has him down as a winger. FMInside have him as playing AML (natural), AMR and AMC and he's right footed. They also seem to think he's got a decent bit of potential.
  17. I agree - the time has presented itself and he needs to embrace the opportunity.
  18. 100% - he cocked up and I can't really see any sort of argument against a red here. It won't be rescinded and it's a waste of time appealing.
  19. Hard to say, really. We're never going to find complete consistency when each ref is able to interpret the game differently. I think if the ref has seen it and given a yellow card, then VAR isn't going to overrule the on-pitch decision but then again, they might.
  20. Yes, there was. It was to stop the counter up the pitch by taking the player out. Players do it all the time but McGinn did it with far too much force, hence the red.
  21. Nah. You can't kick someone with that amount of force and just get away with it - if the ref had been feeling lenient, he might have escaped with a booking, but there's no real argument to make against the red. There's no way it would be rescinded and I'm 99% sure we won't bother appealing anyway.
  22. Looked leggy today and played poorly. Was expecting more from him given that he didn't start against Ajax.
  23. It was tiredness and complacency in the 2nd half that cost us - the system was fine.
  24. Nah, it was a terrible pass from Konsa.
  25. Quite. It requires a great deal of patience and composure, which are things that often come with experience.
